Hi, I just got these blinds and the clips are honestly brilliant! They clip over the entire thickness of the blinds exactly as they come. No need to cut or get any extra parts. You just have to bend the bottom piece to curve around the width of the blinds. I’m trying to find a way to add a photo.
Laura Coulton I have the ones it came with, same as he demonstrates trying with. They are a little tricky at first, but once you get it, they’re so easy and such a clever design! I couldn’t add a pic. Maybe I’ll make a video... hmm Basically, you put the solid end on the top and the open end on the bottom. The long piece on the bottom, that is farthest away from you, will slide past the bottom edge of the blind. And if it doesn’t keep pushing till it does, that’s how it stays in place. Then that part bends to accommodate the extra thickness.
Hi, please make a video, I could not make the clips supplied work, post a link to your video here it would be interesting to see how it,s done. Thanks for watching.
Don't hang from the top of the window. I installed mine in the bottom of the window. I attached a thin piece of wood to it. Then I have hangers for the wood at various heights. I'm going to work something out with a pulley and string for taller windows.
After some clips broke or just won't stay on, I have just ordered several metres of Venetian blind cord and 2 spring toggle clips per blind. I am going to try boring a hole through the entire pleated blind about 1.5 - 2 inches from each end, knotting the cord (cut to the same length as the blind) at the top on the back of the blind, and using the toggle clips to adjust the rise or drop as needed. I might need to add small plastic reinforcements to the top and bottom holes (maybe cut squares from a plastic milk container and make a small hole in the centre). We have no small children or pets, so I shall see if it works!
There's a good video from AJoy - no idea how to link it here - called 'IKEA Schottis blind clips???' and she shows exactly how to fit these properly. It is super simple and they hold a really good chunk of the blinds, if you make sure the back of the clip is properly pushed around the back of the blinds.
Hi, if you look in the INFO section I have previously put a link to this nice lady's video. They do work though you do have to be careful with the clips as they snap very easily.
Hi, we had the same worry but if you fit the 'handles' or clips correctly the blinds stay up - you're putting them on upside-down. Look again at the instructions supplied and you'll see my meaning!
My clips work I have 3 Schottis Blinds in my kitchen windows and the sun is constantly on them, they do come off but not very often, If they do I put a peg on the the side windows, and use an extra clip for my middle window which is bigger. They are very good, I have just purchased the dark ones for tv glare on my small living room windows, as I get a lot of sun.
Thanks for showing this! I've just put these blinds up in my bedroom and I'm very pleased with them👍 I shall be purchasing some little hair grips now! Thanks😊
Hi, I too tried paper clips but the ones I tried were a bit too strong and pinched the material. It's a good thought though, and worth a try! thanks for the input.
Hiya, I see you have covered the roof of the conservatory. I was wondering what sort of blinds you are using for it as it gets hot and too bright in the summer. Would like cheap and cheerful solution.
Curiously I have not covered the roof, I simply make sure it is a dull day before shooting. I do have a plan in mind to put up blinds and it will be cheap and cheerful. rather like me! Thanks for watching.
I am thinking of buying these blinds but for my conservatory however to stick them is abit problematic for me as my conservatory has pvc windows and nothing to attach the blinds to :(
Hi Sabina, you can stick the blind directly to the plastic frame, however this might be difficult to clean off in the future. You could try this, ruclips.net/video/2_ZUIUAEJ9U/видео.html this is the method I use and it works very well! Best of luck!
Thanks for these videos, they are very helpful. I am about to install one of these in a rented apartment; have you tried taking off the adhesive strip or the velcro strips yet? Do they damage paintwork? I will need to attach the line to the painted wall about the window instead of the metal window frame (it doesn't fit) and the painted window sill for the velcro strips. I don't want to do any damage to the paintwork when it comes to taking them off. Thank you!
Hi, Sorry I have not tried to remove from paintwork, mine are stuck to plastic frame so I cannot comment on damage. The adhesive strip does seem pretty powerful, it has stuck to mine throughout the heat of summer Hopefully someone else will have tried this. I do wonder what would be the damage free alternative?
Me too i'm wondering about taking them off. Will they ruin the paint, will it leave a lot of adhesive? There are many videos showing installing, but not removing.
This has got to be the funniest tutorial I've seen in a while. LOL. Sir? The clips work, you're not using them correctly. I have 3 of these blind and all the clips are fine. You have to push the rectangle section of the clips all the way to the back and Voila!
Hi Jana, If you read the info you will see I have already acknowledged this and linked to the video showing how its done. However I think my way is a bit easier to use, especially when gathering up the blind, also the supplied clips do become brittle and snap after a few months, I have only two out of the six I had, unbroken. Glad it gave you some amusement though and thank you for watching!
Ive tried that several times and viola, they popped right off and they dont hold the thickness of the whole blind folded up when I want more light in the room.
Can you buy those clips in white to camouflage them? It would bother me every time I looked at them if I were to use brown. They look so... hair clippy, if you know what I mean!
Thought the white ikea clips were to secure the blind to the window ledge, to save it popping up with the attached Velcro?? I use crocodile clips to hold them up in the daytime x
Hi, I'm not sure how that would work, the white clips come off the fabric very easily. Let us know how you get on with this. My daighter also uses croc clips but they do seem to pinch the fabric of the blind. Thanks for watching!
Perhaps, if you bought 2 blinds per window, then cut the top one short, might it be easier to raise them? Like you would with bead-fit blinds. It's still only £6 a window. Thanks for the great videos on this, really helpful. Got any updates on keeping them up, now you've been using them for while? I was about to order 28 blinds at £45 a piece, now I'm going to Ikea. Just saved me £1700 !!! x
Hi Hari, I have just made a video "living with Ikea blinds" Here ruclips.net/video/EQh5FngNaPA/видео.html I hope this helps! As to using two blinds I'm not sure how that would work? Can i suggest that you buy just one or two of these first to see if they suit your needs? Thank you for watching.
How would that work? I have some magnetic tape but it is quite heavy and will only clip to metal. Thanks for the interest though and thanks for watching.
@@thestonecraftingworkshop7490 sorry I'm trying to find the video I watched a few years ago to show you... but the general idea they had was using some plastic L trim spanning the full length of the window frame, they stuck it on the left&right with double sided tape, then on the inside(?) bit they stuck the metal sticky tape. on the blinds themselves they stuck two pieces of magnetic tape on the bottom left and right of the blinds which then would connect to the L trim at whatever height.... sorry I'm really bad at explaining this, English isn't my native language. I really wish I had the vid to show you. I imagine they used a clip in the middle to stop the blinds sagging or not in addition to the tape, but I imagine it would be needed... still sounds easier than having to use three! I did find this article where they use magnetic tape to attach them to the windows & use the L trim (without the metal tape) on each side of the blinds... could help you understand what I'm trying to explain with the L trim www.ikeahackers.net/2019/08/magnetic-blinds-ikea-schottis.html btw I just had a thought... instead of hairclips you could use white binder clips like these: cdn-images.farfetch-contents.com/13/70/39/92/13703992_16572345_600.jpg they may look better in my opinion
Yes I know, I have addressed this, I have posted the link to a video explaining how to fit the clips in a reply to earlier post, but my way is still much better, Thanks for watching!

Nice solution. Thank you for this idea!

Thanks for showing this! I've just put these blinds up in my bedroom and I'm very pleased with them👍 I shall be purchasing some little hair grips now! Thanks😊
Hi, If you get a larger grip as well it will help in handling the blind. Thank you for watching!
You don't need any hair clips if you use the clips that come with it correctly.
Thanks for a common sense solution that's uncomplicated
I use very large paper clips. They are similar to this hair clips, without the "pins".
Hi, I too tried paper clips but the ones I tried were a bit too strong and pinched the material. It's a good thought though, and worth a try! thanks for the input.
Thats an ingenious idea, its so obvious i would have never though of it. good stuff steve!
Thank you!
Thanks for this! I've had these blinds a while and the accompanying clips have disintegrated, they do break so easily. I'll be trying this instead!
Hi, it definitely works for me and I hope it does for you too! Best of luck.
Don't the teeth damage the blinds?
Not at all, the clips are not strong enough to mark the material. (unlike metal paper clips and pegs). Cheers.

I ordered bull dog clips, never considered those type of clips!
I would be a bit concerned that bulldog clips would pinch the fabric as they often have very strong springs. Thanks for watching!
I use cloth pins. ! Plastic comes in all collar or wood you can paint . 😀
Great tip! I'm sure that would work, Thanks for the idea.
Your using the clips upside down. The square box part goes at the bottom and the middle solid part goes at the top.
