11 years ago, my sister was hit at 50 miles per hour by a golf. After the impact she flew quite some distance and landed on her face shattering her teeth. She was in a coma for three weeks and when she woke up she couldn't go to the bathroom on her own. The driver was high on weed and running late for her kids at school. My sister survived and recovered very well after that, thank god.

3:25 yes, and I'd be happy to share the experience. It happened about two years ago, when I was just crossing the street. I was absorbed in my thoughts, thinking of ways to improve hands-free cars, when suddenly, a madlad in a sports car comes down the hill at breakneck speed. I was frozen in shock, for almost too long. I tried to get out of the way, but I got partially hit. I went flying, my left side destroyed by the impact, into a wall. The doctors had to chop my leg off, and I was in the hospital for almost a year. On the plus side tho, I volunteered for a cybernetic limbs testing program, and now I have a really dope leg. Thanks Elon 👍

Yeah that one time when i was 13 years old with my friend 11 years . We was crossing a wide highway for the first time and we was panicking . Until my friend panicked and couldn't relax he ran to the other side with out noticing a white grey car that was super speed that even me didnt notice . The car hit him, from the power of the impact he flew almost 2 metres in the air even his shoe dismantled from his foot . I remembered like it was in slow motion and and i was in shock i couldn't even move . But the most surprising thing in that accident . When he hit the ground he immediately stand up and ran toward me. And telling me what happened . I couldn't even reply to him . After 10 minutes the cops came and took my friend to the hospital to find if he has any inside injuries . Becus in his body there are no blood or or marks or anything . Even in the hospital the result was no injuries . He was ok surprisingly . He was so much lucky that the car hit his leg and he flew rather than drag him in the ground or hit his head in the car . Even he was lucky when he dropped in the ground in his side body rather then his head . If he died in that accident it would be terrifying for my mentally health especially i was just a kid . And it could ended very bad. Thanks to god for that.

Hope you’re okay now and yes the pain is definitely bad the day after because the day after I was hit I could barely walk because I didn’t know it at the time but I had sciatica so I was limping for like a month and I will say biofreeze really helped me through the pain because in that month of it being really bad there were some nights where I almost went to bed at 7:00 because the pain was so bad so now it’s been over a year and I walk with a cane part time and the good thing is I’m in college so I’m not embarrassed about using it because people in college are way more nice about things like that than people in grade school or high school would be
"Most pedestrian deaths involve alcohol." literally the next sentence... "One way to reduce deaths is to reduce speed limits." Uhh... what? Yeah, drunks are totally gonna slow down 'cause the speed limit sign tells them to.
Once crossing the street , i got touched by a car accidantly at 5 km/h only my leg was bent and suddenly after 1 hours i experienced agressive knee pain and when i checked my sneakers i found one of em having a hole , car accidents at whatever speed is always dangerous
I was hit by a car 10yrs ago (I was 22yrs old). The car was traveling in excess of 55mph. I suffered a broken femur, hip and pelvis, 6 ribs, ruptured ear drum, and 4 brain hemorrhages. The worst injury is the head injury by far. I've basically healed from everything but the brain injury. It screwed my head up so bad, life hasn't been the same since. I can't hold down steady work, relationships, and even my family has had enough trying to find a way to help and have turned their backs on me.
When I was twelve, I was racing with my bike. At one point, a car seemingly came out of nowhere, so I hit my brakes, causing me to fall, after which I was run over.
When I was a teenager I was hit by a car going 55 in a 35 while riding my bike. I don’t remember anything until I woke up in the middle of the street in 114* heat with paramedics over me, and a fire truck next to me trying to give me some shade from the sun. I still don’t remember what I actually did that day. I knew I went to babysit, and I don’t even remember leaving. I was told that if my handlebars hadn’t taken the front of the impact, I most likely would have been killed. It’s been 6 years and I still have nightmares and haven’t rode a bike since. I have scars all over my body, but mostly my arm and face.
I just came home from being in a car accident today and saw this video pop up in subscriptions. Don't worry, nobody was majorly hurt but my friend's car is a write off. It's funny how life lines seemingly related stuff up together.
I was t-boned going through a light once. What I found to be the most fascinating part is how my head busted out my driver side window from the impact. It happened so fast I didn't even realize. Only minor injuries. I'm not sure if you guys know how tough that glass is but you can throw a brick at it and your chances of breaking it or low. Says a lot about how strong our bodies are. I used to work at a scrap yard so we would mess around busting out windows all the time. I remember taking this baseball-sized rock and whipping it at the side of the window and failing to break it.
I've been hit by a car at the age of 8. There was a baseball game and I was at the park by myself. I couldn't see much and didn't know any better when I was younger, there were cars parked all along the side of the street. I remember looking to see and couldn't see well so I just went. After that, I woke up on the ground unaware of what was going on, there were baseball players surrounding me, people everywhere just staring at me. I was told that an ambulance was on the way and I told them my address, later my parents rushed out to see me, they comforted me until the ambulance arrived. I don't understand why but I was only left with A LOT of scratches and bruises. I had no broken bones, the one thing they didn't check is my brain for injuries (so I've been told). I was told later that the vehicle that hit me was traveling at 70kph (43mph). Not many people believe me on that but you know, just putting that out there. Something of the past that is unerasable from my memory, just happy to be here today.
I was hit by a car while walking my dog a couple of years ago. The driver and I were waiting side by side for the same traffic light to turn green. I assumed they were going to travel forward, but when the light turned green and I stepped into the crosswalk they turned and hit me. I was thrown off my feet and remember sliding several feet on my backside. I was lucky to only have minor injuries (scrapes, bruises). I’m still surprised I was knocked off my feet, as I imagine the car was only going between 5-8 mph after turning from a complete stand still.
Aug 3rd 2021 I was crossing the crosswalk in front of my apartment at around 7:50pm when the light changed to the walk symbol. A lady in the turning lane behind me was watching for her opening and when she saw it she accelerated in her left turn directly into my hips and legs. I had a HUGE bruise from her bumper making contact on my calf time mark 2:15 was my point of impact and 2:43 she turned and I rolled off her hood to the side. I'm still recovering. She hit me from behind and I never saw her coming.
Here's my story. I went to my girlfriends house (now Ex girlfriend) for a house party that she was having. We all got drunk and had a good time, until she saw a different girl put her hand on my shoulder. She flipped out and we had an argument. I decided to not escalate the tension and decided to go home. Being as drunk as I was. I decided to walk home. Which was only a few miles away. While walking down a street with no sidewalk, a car going aroung 50-55mph hit me from behind and doesnt stop. I was found 45 min to an hour later with a shattered pelvis, 10 broken ribs, punctured lung, lacerated liver, broken fibula, all 3 ligaments torn in my left knee, TBI, 2 fractured vertebrae, 7 broken bone in both feet and some gnarly road rash and serious internal bleeding.
I was almost in an accident on a couple occasions. Neither of them involved alcohol. The first one was when I was riding my longboard down the sidewalk and i came across a corner of an intersection. I waited until the light turned green and proceeded to longboard across the walkway when a light green Toyota Camery turned the driveway of the 7-11 just 30 ft away and sped down to the intersection before I was even halfway across. I jumped off my longboard just in time before they stopped directly in front of me and blocked my way to the other corner or the sidewalk and was about 4" away from being hit by a car going damn near 30 mph down a neighborhood street. The other time I was riding my bike to the gorcery store. I was about two blocks away from my destination when I was about to cross a Mc Donalds driveway. A grayish blue Dodge 4×4 truck pulled out of the driveway at the last minute and stopped itself literally right in the way of the sidewalk. There were three other people watching from the bus stop behind me and two other people trying to cross to the other side when this happened and I'm just grateful that I had the reflexes to react and think quickly. I grew up around people who rode their bikes everywhere and there was this specual skill we all referred to as "sharp curbing," where you hit both breaks of both front and back tires as hard as you could and leaned as backwards and parallel to the ground as possible without scraping yourself. I sharp curbed so hard and so quickly that the handles of the bike I was riding scraped the sidewalk surface, and I had to use one of the stones in my pocket with my hand to support my weight or I would've just wiped out then and there. And we were so close to colliding that with my bike going 5-10 mph, my bikes tires bounced off the wheel and door step up of the truck!! Everyone watching (and even the driver, bless his soul for doing this), came up to me and all asked if I was alright in a panic and asked if I needed water or an ambulance. The driver even offered his licensing number and insurance numbers and since the driver was a grown up about the situation and faced the music instead of driving away like a pansy, I just didnt wanna bother with it. I mean, I was alright there wasnt anything seriously wrong or anything and I felt lazy amd didnt wanna do any paperwork, so my bike still being in alright condition, I just continued on my way and got back home. It was a mistake and it happens, and the fact that he got out of his truck to see if I was alright and the fact that he had genuine uncontrolable panic and worry in his eyes just made me feel bad
Well this explains alot on how I didn’t die in a car accident, It was probably May and I remember wanting to walk down to get some food cause I had nothing at home, while I was crossing the street on my signal to go, I was hit by a car making a right hand turn, luckily he was going maybe 15-20 MPH so it wasn’t enough force to kill me, but it is scary to experience when it actually DOES happen to you. On the bright side, once my parents arrived, I did get the food I wanted
Someone swerved around us and another person swerved around the person. They hit a light pole that had telephone wires connected to it. A car caught fire. The luckiest thing in that accident was that the pole broke. They had stopped replacing the poles on the one just before it. If it has been replaced, they probably would have died.
I was hit by a car while walking in November, going about 45 mph. It’s incredible I survived. I broke my pelvis in 6 places, both femurs at the femoral neck, 4 ribs, multiple facial fractures and knocked out 3 teeth (2 more are dead). My recovery will be quite long, but with these statistics, I’m feeling awfully lucky.
I was hit recently (October) crossing the street. Had the light, wasn't aware this older lady wasn't paying attention to the light. Surprisingly, nothing broke, doctors said it was because I wasn't aware and didn't brace for impact that most likely saved me from breaking anything. I do have some pain and joint discomfort in my knees though, but I'm hoping to be good again in 6 months
I've been hit by a Taxi whilst crossing a road at around 30mph and was just fine, though I was struck off a motorcycle at a similar/the same speed, and I sustained life threatening injuries. Strange.
I was in car accident when I was 11. The car hit something on the road and it vaulted the car backwards with the car rolling over 3 times. The car was totaled and for a short time I was scared going close to a car. It was the only time I saw my older brother ever cry. And that’s my car accident story. And also the funny part is that nobody in the car was hurt and it landed on the sidewalk as if it had just parked there. It wasn’t upside down it was how it would be in a parking lot.
I have been in a car accident before. On April of 2018 I was a freshman going to school and my mother was the driver. We saw a car that did not do a stop even tho there was a stop sign on their side. By the time my mom stepped on the brake it was too late. The lady hit us and I felt all the impact. My mom’s car had a small bump on her number but her axis was destroyed as it wouldn’t work and the steering wheel wouldn’t match the tires position. The other lady’s car was completely destroyed from the front and we then saw children crying in her car. She got mad at us but we told her it was her fault as she did not stop at where the stop sign was at. My mom and her checked each other’s license, etc. We had to go to therapy for about 2 months and we finally got compensated on 2020 for our injuries.
I haven’t been in any dangerous car accidents, but i do remember this one time when we were exiting an area and going out into the main road. This guy came up behind us and hit our car on the side near the back, he took one look back at the damage and drove off. I don’t remember if they managed to identify who he was or if he was ever caught, but we had to sit in a parking lot for hours waiting for help. Although i will never forget the worst thing he did.. He made me drop my popcorn >:c
i was born at 1989 and i also had a car accident , a drunk driver hit me with ~ 80km/h or 50mph (police says it was 60km/h according the distance they found my body but the creash expert says there is a +25km according the damages of the car. It was a hit and run accident. my accident happend at november 2019. i almost die but luckily i wore my helmet which wasnt tied up and went away after the first hit. Got major traumas at the whole body, got an open fracture of tibula and fibula, got my arm out of position (which protected my spinal and internal organs) and almost die at the hospital also from pulmonary embolism. Now after a year i am better i can walk but havent recoverd at 100% and i still look at videos like that to see how my body moved as i passed out imidiately i only heared the bumb and didnt see anything despite the fact that i was watching the car coming to me (i was too shocked to move ) nor i felt pain when i woke up at the tarmac.I beleve that happened cause my brain released too much andrenaline and my brain was felling like shaking before the car hit me. Unfortunately in EU hit and run drivers dont get penalties at the court because the say it was an "accident" ! Insurance only pays for the victim some pathetic compensation .. lawyer says if i get 180,000 Euros will be a good amount. The reason i am watching videos like this is because i experience metatraumatic stress recalling memories from the accident. my life has been frozen in that time
I got hit by a car once. I couldn't feel my left leg for a couple hours and also couldn't use it to stand back up because of it, I realized it after I tried to use it just to fall on the ground again, it also didn't hurt that bad but I don't know if that's me being lucky or adrenaline. Luckily I just left home and the driver was nice enough to help me get me and my mangled bike back home. Cool guy, owe him a bumper if I ever meet him again.
they shouldn't design cars while thinking how to decrease lethality when being hit they should design them while thinking how to prevent people from being hit in the first place
With the auto-brake sensor systems, they are. But pedestrians (and cyclists) can also be very irresponsible, so no matter how much tech we incorporate into transportation, this is a problem that won't go away.
I was on my bike headed to school when i approached an intersection. The light was green, i noticed that there was a car with turn signals on in the left lane on the other side, but that they had not started turning. So i went ahead and they started turning without looking. I had just enough to: see it coming, start braking, and realize that I was still going to get hit by the car. I broke her windshield with my face, her right wheel well with my bike. I partially dislocated my jaw, fully dislocated my knee, tore a ligament in my other knee, got a concussion and whiplash. But because i was wearing a helmet, and protective gear, it saved my life (that and me braking). I was going 20, they were going 15. Thankfully, wasn’t hurt enough that I had to to take an ambulance, so I refused it (its SUPER expensive in the US for some reason to take an ambulance). And went to my drs office which has all sorts of specialists that helped me. Did two rounds of physical therapy (one for my face & neck and one for both of my legs) and I’m still not 100% okay. Still going to need more physical therapy and mris to see exactly what else is wrong because I’ve had three already, and the pain Im experiencing still is very had to pinpoint exactly why I still have it. But Im alive and not too bad, i guess, so thats good... wear a helmet, dont be distracted while driving, pay attention, and DO NOT drive while intoxicated or under the influence.
When I was 7 I got hit by a car going 45 miles per hour, I got throne 10 feet away and was knocked out for 5 minutes. it fractured my hip and pelvis thankfully I didn't sustain any long-term damage and was walking in a year. I got a game boy advance out it😎 I was too young to realize that I was incredibly lucky, but I do have a fear of crossing the street so there's that.
If you ever get struck by a motor vehicle, no matter how little the damage, go to the hospital. My friend's uncle died from a blood clot he incurred after just getting bumped by a moving car
My dad was in a wreck It was tiny but still Counts He was driving in his truck and then he hit a smaller cars bumper but the man inside the car was going to replays the bumper anyway
My brother once got hit my a car, he was perfectly fine because he was on a bike abd the car was going slow. Me him abd a friend of ours was riding our bikes and my brother was in the lead and had just turned a corner so was going pretty slow but the a car was coming out of the parking lot there at the same time, normal we woukd have saw it but the car was low to the ground and the bushes high. The person who hit him was actually our school nurse so everything when fine, the only thing that was hurt was his bike, i git a few scratches on it but it already had a good few of those so it wasn't noticeable. This was longer that i thought it would be.
Here’s a story : About 2 weeks ago I was with my parents in their car, when we were in the highway my dad ( known for driving fast ) Crashed into a car, It isn’t that kind of car crash you’re thinking. We pulled over somewhere and saw the right headlight just smashed. It was a Fender Bender btw, so then my dad got in contact with the other driver, Went to an Uber, Got a rental, ( Near the airport where THE CORONAVIRUS IS, btw I saw one person wearing a mask. Now 10 ) and I still have the rental. Small but okay car ( MY PARENTS HAD THE PREVIOUS CAR SINCE 2014, GOD DAMMIT DAD )
Hey finally a question i can answer, yes, i have been hit by a car. Basicly, i was riding on my bike and there was a gigantic line of cars so i couldn't see if a car was coming or not. So i just went through and a car hit me. I didn't break any bones but i did put a big mark in his windshield and broke off of the side mirrors. We don't know what was his speed but the guy said that he was going 44km/h, but that seems impossible because i'm still alive. Also it happend when i was 11 and I still have the bike because it's been only 2 years since it happend.
My friend was walking to visit his mom in the hospital, got hit by a car, and went to the hospital, but as a patient instead of a visitor. He lived without permanent injury tho.
I was hit by a piece of a truck once... While driving home at night on the freeway, I saw a shower of sparks approaching and veered away once I realized it was in my lane. 'Turns out it was a wrong way drunk driver with his lights off that struck the car far in front of me (or something) and lost his front wheel. The wheel detached and hit my vehicle. Curtain airbags deployed, which blocked my view. I remember coming to a violent, rumbling halt after my vehicle hit the safety guard rail on the right shoulder. It wrapped around my SUV like a ribbon. My friend in the passenger's seat got a concussion and neck injury. I got the same. After an eye exam, the doctor told me that my retina almost detached. We got lucky on several fronts. No drunk drivers were harmed.

Ur not alone my family doesn't care

My brother was hit by a car on his bike and the cops ruled it as his fault, we then went to court and go to ruled as the driver's fault.

Because your town or city might want to update their speed limits, an as an informed voter you would know where to stand on the issue.
@Hi Im Legend, maybe*
Peter *informed karen
Simple solution: alcohol level detectors should be kept embedded by the drivers seat so tht whn it detects it it limits the speed down
limit the speed down? it better if the car wont start if the alcohol level is above the threshold

The bus driver is really a responsible guy.
Well this explains alot on how I didn’t die in a car accident,
It was probably May and I remember wanting to walk down to get some food cause I had nothing at home, while I was crossing the street on my signal to go, I was hit by a car making a right hand turn, luckily he was going maybe 15-20 MPH so it wasn’t enough force to kill me, but it is scary to experience when it actually DOES happen to you. On the bright side, once my parents arrived, I did get the food I wanted
Video starts with talking about alcohol and drinking.

Wow
I was in a car crash in 2014, me, my brother, and mom were hit at 25 mph in our old Toyota Corolla, neither of us got hurt but it was a little scary

When I saw the notification I thought: WHAT
I have been in a car accident before.

No death is possible getting hit at 40mph
i was born at 1989 and i also had a car accident , a drunk driver hit me with ~ 80km/h or 50mph (police says it was 60km/h according the distance they found my body but the creash expert says there is a +25km according the damages of the car.

Cool guy, owe him a bumper if I ever meet him again.
they shouldn't design cars while thinking how to decrease lethality when being hit
they should design them while thinking how to prevent people from being hit in the first place
