We all know 'animator_unknown' is the greatest animator of all time, the fact he didn't make the list is despicable, and you should feel ashamed for leaving 'animator_unknown' off.
Lol kinda sruprised no Yutaka Nakamura. He's one of the most iconic animators in the industry. Then again, I guess most people who are into animation already know about him, so it's nice to learn about the others.
@@YoungPhenix It's 50-50. Mitsuo Iso, Shinya Ohira and Norio matsumoto are considered equally or more iconic than Nakamura. Others 2 are pretty young but Shingo Yamashita is pretty iconic also.

yeah really glad to know this, I was on this boat when become Naruto fan, but everyone that didn't understand animation always shout animation like this is ugly, it's hurting their eyes, and they more like stiff animation like in the Naruto major episode.
My personal favorite would have to be Hiroyuki Okiura. He also does a good job of blurring the lines between key frames, much like Iso, and his grasp on making characters appear to be fully 3-dimensional is simply astounding! Toshiyuki Inoue, Mitsuo Iso and Shinji Suetomi are a few other animators that work in a similar fashion.

Bahi JD. Yutaka Nakamura, Chengxi Huang. Hiroyuki Yamashita. Tetsuya Nishio. Mitsuo Iso. There are so many! Space Dandy pretty much exists as an animation showcase. Especially the second season. WATCH IT.
My favorite is Naoki Tate and that is not changing anytime soon, i just got my hands on the Dragon Ball Super movie and i am looking insanely forward to he's cut :D
I'm the biggest fan of hyper-realistic movement with a dash of expressionism, so Hiroyuki Okiura, Toshiyuki Inoue, Mitsuo Iso, Tetsuya Nishio, and, of course, Yutaka Nakamura are among my favorites. They seem to be the best at eliminating the pose-to-pose movement in their work, and conveying an unparalleled illusion of 3D space with 2D characters. Of course, I also enjoy the Kanada-school stuff, but the level of craftsmanship in Okiura-school animation is something I always marvel at, even in the subtler cuts they're given.
I really love when shading disappears and when the animation is done without keyframes. I'm also a fan of when the lineart becomes big and rought and I also love detailed facial animation that convey threedimensionality like in the monogatari series. I'm myself getting started and I'm animating on my phone. One of the best things about starting out is that you can see cleary that you get better each frame you draw. It can happen that the quality of the same animation changes for the better during time.
- Well, for many reasons, Takahiro Kagami is my favorite animator/supervisor. From Yu-Gi-Oh! to Death Note, his style always caught my attention. His beautiful style, his movements and the way he animated/drew bodies and hands always took my breath away. Probably my favorite episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters was 79 (Supervised by Kagami), a 100% episode aimed at Ryo Bakura and Yami Bakura/Zorc, in other words, an Terror episode, it's a shame that the OST of the episode wasn't so good. But even so, the episode it's beautiful and horrifying.
I don't know a lot of things about animation, let alone japanese animation. That's why I have a request / idea for a series. How about making videos like these showcasing great animators of different styles? From watching your videos it has become clear to me that this kind of low detail - high movement - flowy animation isn't really my thing, so it would be amazing to look at other styles and maybe find out who my favorite animators are. If you could do something like that it would be pretty amazing but, of course, this is all up to you. Thank you for yet another amazing video.

As a "casual" (non animation, but more like story/plot/characters) fan, this makes me think, yeah Dragon Ball (Super) really doesn't have anything that special, if you are into this hardcore animation. But like I said as a "non-animation fan" (or how should I say) I prefer on-model characters and casual animation, like probably 90% of the DB fans.
These are examples are really extreme animation. There's plenty of more grounded animators out there who are equally as talented. It's all good. You'll allowed to have your preferences! Super's got plenty of talent these days.
You could do 3 videos/lists (maybe even in just one video): -Your top animes in terms of animation, -Your top animes in terms of story/plot (you are most interested in), -Top animes with all this together. I'm a big mecha fan, so most of your list i dislike because i love detailed technical movements from complex geometric objects, and I only like temporary deformation to aid in movement, and in mecha anime things maintaining their shape and proportion is very important since they aren't organic objects. I also really enjoy cool and realistic posing, and I absolutely love Background and vehicle animation. 5.Sakiko Uda: Absolutely solid mecha animator, great effects works too. 4.Yoh Yoshinori: Top Tier Animator 3.Naotoshi Shida: His since of timing style of movement is godly. He signature shapes are very organic and i love the way he draws muscular characters. 2. Sejoon Kim: Godly effects, all around great animator 1.Masami Obari: THIS MAN IS MY GOD. His since for dynamism, posing, and action are nye unmatched. His mechanical design, moster design etc. are top tier. This man's work is the epitome of style in animation.
unAVERAGE- gamer if you like One Punch Man, then you’ll like guys like Yoshimichi Kameda, Gosei Oda, and Arifumi Imai. All are young animators who provided great work on OPM.
I was waiting for him to say Naoki Tate, throughout the whole thing, with how much praise he gives him in Super and with how loose his animation is. Did he just not make the cut by a small margin, or is he severely outclassed by these five?
Hmm. Maybe I should re-watch Birdy with this perspective of yours. It's why re-watching something is great, different experience each time. Tonne of opinions have changed just rewtaching DBS for example. Loose animation is not my jam but I can still appreciate it in most cases not a fan of the first example you gave where the animation literally turns into an oil painting and line art that's a bit too much for me.
Me and Ajay's preference are really different, none of what you showed made me think it was even half decent. Anyways mine is 5.Tu Yong-Ce 4.Yuichi Karasawa 3.Futoshi Higashide 2.Naotoshi Shida 1.Yuya Takahashi

didn't actually liked THIS lit but i would like to see more of THEM
7:10 cool vibrations?
I'm a big mecha fan, so most of your list i dislike because i love detailed technical movements from complex geometric objects, and I only like temporary deformation to aid in movement, and in mecha anime things maintaining their shape and proportion is very important since they aren't organic objects. I also really enjoy cool and realistic posing, and I absolutely love Background and vehicle animation.
5.Sakiko Uda: Absolutely solid mecha animator, great effects works too.
4.Yoh Yoshinori: Top Tier Animator
3.Naotoshi Shida: His since of timing style of movement is godly. He signature shapes are very organic and i love the way he draws muscular characters.
2. Sejoon Kim: Godly effects, all around great animator
1.Masami Obari: THIS MAN IS MY GOD. His since for dynamism, posing, and action are nye unmatched. His mechanical design, moster design etc. are top tier. This man's work is the epitome of style in animation.
If you like mecha, i would truly recommend checking out Ken Otsuka, he`s a mecha LEGEND. :)
Yutaka Nakamura and Naotoshi Shida
Hiroyuki Okiura is my personal favorite.
I’m not really a big anime fan of anime (I only really watch db and one punch man) but I personally like Tate and naotoshi shida
unAVERAGE- gamer if you like One Punch Man, then you’ll like guys like Yoshimichi Kameda, Gosei Oda, and Arifumi Imai. All are young animators who provided great work on OPM.
Ajay, what do you think about Hiroyuki Imaishi? He was the key animator of Kill La Kill and I love his style.
I was waiting for him to say Naoki Tate, throughout the whole thing, with how much praise he gives him in Super and with how loose his animation is. Did he just not make the cut by a small margin, or is he severely outclassed by these five?
Love Ohira. Space Dandy is one of my favorite animated works
Takahashi... Hands down
Can you do your top youtube animators? I know they're not that good, but it can be interesting

Anyways mine is
5.Tu Yong-Ce
4.Yuichi Karasawa
3.Futoshi Higashide
2.Naotoshi Shida
1.Yuya Takahashi
mm umm half of these aren't even as good as 10% of what ajay showed
