I just fixed mine like this a couple days ago. Stared at it for a minute and it clicked. Seemed it was probably a very obvious solution to anyone more mechanically minded, but then I think about all the bent rims that I see, and clearly none of them had this idea. I realized if I search it online, surely this solution would be found very quickly. It was a great chance to fix something with my kids and teach them a thing or two.
Thank you so much! My husband was ready to get rid of the whole contraption. Then he tried banging it out with a hammer (which wasn't working very well). Then I found your video. Our jack was not long enough, so we put a block of wood between it & the rim. The other side dug into the rim a little, so I would probably use a block of wood on both sides if it happens again. Thanks, again, for your genius idea!
Wow thank you so much for taking the time. I was so upset and after seeing your video with this quick fix I immediately felt peace. I actually felt bad after that I got so angry and lost my peace. So again thank you.
Check with the manufacturer, often times they do have warranty . I have a warranty but still takes 10 days to get the item. I am going to try this method. Great idea!
Here I am outside looking like I'm trying to piece together whatever I can to pry a rim out...... I don't have the old scissor jack, but I wonder if I could use the floor jack???
It does work & i just did this 2 days ago but you have to measure to see if you have it right. I got mine with just the front to back like 2 or 3mm under 18"
@@Kaimonlani I tried it…it was ok after trying but I still didn’t like it. You can do one of two things but a new one for like $50 or call the manufacturer and make up a story and they’ll send a new rim. Just don’t say you dunked or it was due to neglect or environmental damage. I also used like a piece of wood to extend the length of the jack
@@IllusiveMan343 yep I went and bought a s jack that was too small and took it back and traded it for a RV size scissor jack with a higher lift range and it did the job, the basketball hoop I got from somebody it’s old but still in decent shape. I just ain’t wanna buy a new rim for something old
thank you man, my rim has been bent for over 2 years now and i finally decided to fix it and this worked perfectly thank you so much

🤯
I love you !!!
So what is that tool called
A car jack
@@HayBoys thanks
Just did this! Wondering if when I remove the jack will it spring back to oval-ish or keep the round shape
O shit
Any ideas how to bend a rim downward? Mine tipped over and now the rim is slightly bent upwards
Hi Chris, have you tried holding a block of wood and hitting the area with a rubber mallet? Best of luck
Maybe take the hoop off the backboard and use a bench vise to bend it back.
@Jennifer Hay Hey Jen thanks for the reply. Unfortunately a plow smacked it and snapped the pole in half and was a really nice hoop ☹️
@@Bborgrt Appreciate the help, but look at my comment above. Sucks but it's in half now lol
Kinda embarrassing but basically I was just trynna move my hoop so I removed it’s weights. Then it falls over and the rim looked like an oval…
Same thing happened to me
Anyone know how to fix a backboard that’s leaning slightly downward
Did u ever figure this out?
@@zachwillandcarl5157 nah mate sorry
Genius 🤣🤣
I had a bent rim on my basketball hoop and i was going to reshape the rim back with my carjack but i lost it so i replaced my red rim to a black rim.
