Great video! I hiked Grand Canyon 3 times. It seems always in rush. Never got chance to shoot some good video and pictures. Thanks for sharing yours.

I did this hike two years ago with my 34 year old son and we're going back this year to do it again. I'll be 69 years old when we do the hike in May.

Congrats on a very nice video. Two weeks ago I completed the "Dreaded" South Kaibab to North Kaibab R2R, solo, at the age of 72. Brutal hike. For me it completed my R2R2R, but I agree with you, the easiest (and smartest) way to do an R2R is NK to BA. That ascent up NK to the trailhead is extremely challenging from Cottonwood to the trailhead.

Fantastic job, all of you! Really great cinematography and editing Bill. Enjoyed this a lot!
Like you, I can't stop going back. Started backpacking there in 2007, brought my daughter to hike and camp in the canyon at age 8, the next year. Have returned there almost every year since. My daughter and I started running R2R when she was 15, in 2015 and did it 5yrs in a row. I've done 3 more solo since then, and just ran my 4th Rim2River in 3yrs. She and I are training now for another daddy-daughter R2R, in mid-Aug.
You played the smart card by getting into the creeks, and wearing a full brimmed hat, vs a ball cap. If you want to overheat and get sick in the canyon, and maybe even need to be rescued or flown out, stay out of the creeks, wear a ball cap, and wear a short sleeve shirt, or tank top!
PSA: When you leave Phantom Ranch Cantina area, stay to the right, and continue to keep veering right until you get to the first aluminum walled bridge. Turn right, and cross that bridge (crossing over the BA Creek). The thermometer is on the wooden display, one in the sun, and one to the right, in the shade. Then continue left, down through the actual BA Campground. About 100yds from the bridge you'll find bathrooms with flush toilets, and an exterior sink with running water. Great place to make one final pit stop, wet hair and shirts, before heading out for either the Silver Bridge, or Black Bridge.

Great video and job well done. I did this hike in may of 2022 and can’t wait to do it again. The last three miles was challenging. As you stated it is a spiritual journey.

I guess I did it all wrong last week. We did R2R2R with an overnight rest at the N. Rim Lodge--just over 50 miles. We left at 8:00am for the first crossing, starting at S. Kaibab, and 9:00 am for the return via Bright Angel. It was great. I'm not a runner, just an average 65 yr old hiker. You can do it! Drink all the time, and don't push too hard in the beginning--save up for a finishing sprint! hehehe

Oh my! What a beautiful bike ... If I could go back to AZ, I would love to do that over 2-3 days staying in the valley over a night or two. Thank you for sharing this hike... I loved the grand canyon at both rims, but only hiked a little while there.. Bright angel trail was hard for me though coming back up!

We always did this hike in October just before the north rim closes. We would do south to north and then the next day north to south. October the temps are much more comfortable. Great video.

Great video and congratulations on your hike. We leave tomorrow for the Grand Canyon and start backpacking from South to North, staying at each of the campgrounds for one night (two at Bright Angle....hope it's not too hot). I'm 57 and my boy is 16. We have been training, but know it will be a challenge. Cheers!
