- Another house with rotten wood. This stuff is all over in my area and tons and tons of homes have it. When water starts to infiltrate into wood that is it. It has no choice but to rot away and need to be replaced. Routine maintenance like caulking and painting can help prevent this and give wood on your home longer life. Would it help using a more weather resistant board like cedar, cypress or some exotics. I know that most facia is made from ceder.
Yeah cedar would be better. It is hard to get sheets of cedar in my area. I suppose you could change the whole design and do something different.
@@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS Not trying to tell a man how to do his work. I hope it doesn't come across as that. What about tounge and groove ceder planks when you put them together the back side is usually smooth. You could make the large panel that way. Sand and finish then add your trim pieces. Just a suggestion.
