THIS is how Gesualdo should be performed! Simultaneously captures its strangeness and its utter beauty.
Geweldig mooi, ik luister met mijn ogen dicht, geen woorden voor zo'n ervaring.
Ik ben dankbaar dat ik de gave heb ontvangen schoonheid te erkennen. Dit is pure schoonheid. Dank u voor het delen.
Your videos are so beautiful in black and white, sometimes magical. We see the singers singing with the whole body, and soul. Beautiful.
Love the timbre and the communication between the singers.
Bravo!
Wow, you didn't have to make me cry like that. Smh.
If Gesualdo had been taken as seriously in his time as he is now, music history would have taken an entirely different course.
No other interpretation I've heard even comes close to comparing to this one in my ears. The unique timbre that each singer brings to this is just so magical and I know that this isn't how early music is typically performed and it probably wasn't performed like this at the time, but this interpretation is so soulful and beautiful. I much prefer this way of singing early music.
Also they are so in tune you can hear the high E in the overtones at 3:18 so clearly.
Es ist unübertrefflich schön und ergreifend!
I've performed several of his pieces, he was a tormented soul and nearly 300 years ahead of his time.
This is amazingly good. I hope I can see you perform live in the future! (Welcome to Finland)
Extraordinaire, je suis un grand fan de Gesualdo et cette version rend parfaitement le sublime de cette pièce ! Enorme BRAVO !
Fabuleux et envoûtant
Hear these voices, God.
Es hermoso comprobar como el canto se acompaña con el gesto y las miradas, en perfecta armonìa
Once more: this is amazing!
I hope I will see you live again someday.
Wow! Stunning! Fantastic bass Arnout 👌

2:08 ???
Magnífico. Pero las introducciones sobran.
A little bit chaotic...
Yes indeed. This ensemble never really developed beyond glorified busking dominated by an inferior intellect. What a waste of a few interesting and musical voices. But others in the band would not be missed by anybody.
Stopped buying their discs when they departed too far from what was written and the 'boss' thought he knew better.
@@stephenhall3515 jeez, sometimes it is good to know less. I was swept away by this
NOT Gesualdo but yet another terrible 'crossover' reconstruction by Schmelzer. No wonder the singers look unhappy.
Stephen, I am genuinely puzzled by your rather horrible vitriolic comments. This is a magnificent version and interpretation sung incredibly in all the parts! Their concerts are packed and are appreciated worldwide. Are you a professional musician or singer with a vast catalogue of repertoire I can listen to and critique? Or have you some personal history with Bjorn? Either way your comments are most distasteful and unbecoming!
Hi Stephen! Really value your comment, now I understand.
Laughable comment. Good riddance.
Do they? Do the singers look unhappy? Make a cogent argument that, on its own merits, persuades non-imaginary supporters.
You poor jealous soul…
Plange quasi virgo
Plange quasi virgo, plebs mea,
ululate, pastores, in cinere et cilicio
quia veniet dies Domini magna et amara valde.
Accingite vos, sacerdotes, et plangite, ministri altaris,
aspergite vos cinere.
Quia veniet dies Domini magna et amara valde.
