I remember going to the Sesame Street General Store when it used to be at the Livingston Mall. That's where I got giant plush toys of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Ernie, and Bert. It was one of my favorite childhood memories.😊
I remember very well repeatedly going to the Sesame Street General Store at South Coast Plaza back in the day. Was for sure one of the coolest kid stores they had there back in the day. I always wondered what happened to it when I later noticed it was no longer there.
Thanks so much for this video! When I was junior in high school, I opened, then closed less than a year later, the Sesame Street General Store in the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach county. I have nothing but fond memories of working there and I have a few items from the store to this day. As I recall, our number one bestseller wasn’t even a Sesame Street product. It was called Pound A Ball, and was a toddler thing where you hit a ball with a mallet and it rolled through and out the bottom. We couldn’t keep them in stock! I also have fond memories of meeting Roscoe Ormond and helping him get to the stage near the food court. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
We had one of these stores in my mall in Bridgewater, NJ. I still have things I purchased from there! I uncovered some stationery I purchased to write home when I was in college (because it was the 90s and email was still not widespread).
There was a Sesame Street store at Lakeside Mall in the late 90's. Only lasted a couple years, if that. No animatronic Oscar, however, at that location :(.
Oh man, great vid! I never got to see or visit one of these stores, and I would have loved to! Lifelong Sesame Street fan here, and when I was very small, I had a ton of merch, but it was through the more common source of JC Penny, which had a deal with Sesame Street the way Sears for the longest time had a deal with Disney for Winnie the Pooh (and briefly a much wider Disney deal). It would be so cool to see one of these stores or to own one of those Oscar animatronics! Hopefully, the soon to open Sesame Street land at Sea World Orlando will be amazing and have a great Store!
Would love to see some more obscure Sesame characters show up on some merch at Sea World! It'll probably just be a lot of Elmo and Abby Cadabby, but we can dream.
It's been a while since we worked on this one, but I definitely remember reading about some stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts. We mostly relied on old newspapers to identify where stores were located, so I'm sure there a lot that we don't know of.
I loved that store!! I bought every shirt I could! ❤

Maybe they'll come up with a new and improved Sesame Street General Store in the future😃
4:50 I actually still have that same bag.
Hey that's me with the sign!
The clip with Madeline Kahn and Grover was also in the 1987 Sesame Street Home Video, Sing Along.

That's fantastic! Thanks for sharing with us! Did your store have one of the Oscar animatronics out front?
Awesome stuff dudes!

Aw man. They had an adult size Guy Smiley watch once. . .and I didn't buy it. It haunts me to this day.
If I am not mistaking, I believe there was a Sesame Street General Store at Phesant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH. Were there any other ones in New England?
