I LOVE the fact that you're describing the lead even to the point of what the fingers are doing. I've been dancing for a long time, and lead this figure sometimes, and it works fine, but compared with your description, I feel like my lead for this is utilitarian at best. I see now that it can be elegant. Thanks for the eye-opener. I'll be shooting for elegant in the future.

I love your videos! Absolute noob question: How do you communicate that you will go to a six count as a lead? Could I have just done a 8-step count and then do this pass in a 6 count?

Well, a pass is often a 6-count figure in its basic form, so executing the shape as an 8-count idea often means communicating an extra 2 counts somewhere (i.e. a turn, slowing the shape down so that a Follow walks for extra counts in the middle of the shape, etc.). You could also contract the pass into 4 counts by leading the Follow from the rock step to the other side more quickly and with a bit more rotation such that a triple step wouldn't feel correct. In truth, your options are many, so keep dancing and you'll find some great options.
Reviewing several sites, the consensus was that cashews aren't legumes (though peanuts are)... cashews, almonds, and pistachios are drupes. (A cashew is the seed of the cashew apple.) "True nuts" include acorns, chestnuts, and hazelnuts. While walnuts are kind of in-between!
