I saw them in concert at the Cumberland Caverns, probably the best concert ever. I was able to talk to them after the concert, they are so very humble and amazing. Best group since the Civil Wars came along.
I saw these amazing women in St. Louis and they were the first opening act to Brandie Carlile and I was blown away! I could of listened to them all night.
I am completely convinced that this is the father’s side of the Iuka story. In Iuka, the story was about two lovers trying to marry (in Iuka, so that is a loophole maybe because in this song, they’re trying to LEAVE Mississippi). Everything else fits though. The two lovers, the abusive, controlling, murderous father, noose in the maple tree...just saying. Go listen to their song Iuka.
I loved this song from the moment I heard it. It was only later when I had fully devoured their discography that I learned it was the second song of a story. The two songs put together make one of the best stories I've heard told in a song in quite awhile.
I think almost everybody who watched the volga restoration video, tried to find this song and the slow farawell song, like i did. i m 37 and now i try to find out how could i live without black country. this song is epic
I'm going to move to Russia and restore old Soviet cars while jamming out to retro-sounding Blues. In all seriousness, that was a cool video. They did a beautiful job restoring that car. Their choice of music is very interesting and I really enjoyed it.
