  • Poland is one of the most affordable countries that you can travel to in Europe. After spending 3 weeks in 3 different cities in Poland (Wroclaw, Poznan and Warsaw), we decided to make a video exploring some of the expenses we incurred.
We breakdown the prices in Poland into 5 categories:
    1. Accommodation (Airbnb vs. hotel vs. hostel)
    2. Restaurants (prices for pierogies, coffee, beer, etc.)
    3. Groceries (join us as we grocery shop at a Biedronka in Warsaw
    4. Regional Differences
    5. Transportation
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

This is fun for me to watch. In 1982 when I was 31 years old I went to Poland to find my remaining relatives who were the descendants of those had not emigrated along with my great-great grandfather in 1870. I found them and that was exciting and interesting. They were in a few villages down in the foothills to the Carpathians.
But when I was in Warsaw what I encountered was a country under Martial Law in the Soviet-imposed government reaction to the success and strength of Solidarity. There were battalions of military police at corners which were heavily trafficked, around bus and tram stops, etc. The irony of it was that these boys were Polish and were following orders of a foreign world power but the idea that they would assault or shoot their fellow Poles in the name of a despised and imposed government was, to me, ludicrous. The mood then was so different from what I see in your nifty video. There was practically nothing in stores, there were food shortages, you had to stand in line for everything (there were even professional line-standers who would hold your place while you did other errands). It's really quite unbelievable for me to see something that I never would have dreamed of seeing in my lifetime: a free and prosperous Poland. And yet there you two are enjoying what is joyfully spilling forth in this beautiful country after having been held back and repressed for long periods in its history, not only as recently as until 1989, but all through its 1050-year recorded past, which I encourage everyone to find out a bit about if you'd like an engaging read.

Yes I'd love to eat and drink my way thru Poland 😂😆. I've only been to Mexico and it was much more affordable than the US. Stayed in fairly luxurious hotel for maybe $40 a night a few years ago in Monterey and then in Mexico City right in downtown not far from the basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe right around Christmas / New Year's. Eating out also much less than eating out in US. Beer was half price but then again it was locally produced Mexican beer Tecate.

I loved Poland as well. It is super affordable indeed. The only comment you guys made that I do not agree with wholeheartedly is the English language. My experience was in Warsaw was that only about half of the people knew some English. Many people I came across knew very little or none at all. As several Poles that did speak some English told me, the Polish knowledge of English will probably be up to par within ten years or so.

I don't understand why you didn't get millions of views on your Polish tour. Polish people love to watch foreigners that are recommending a visit to Poland ;)
Besides, you've visited Wrocław, Warsaw, and Poznań, which are (unfortunately) major polish cities. There are a lot of other cities that aren't as big as those mentioned, but that has more interesting features (if you will), like Toruń, Malbork (both with the castles from the Teutonic order) or Jelenia Góra (the gold deposits) than ... well .. food and cheap Airbnb ;)

@@frankmontez6853 In most of those places bus tickets should be around $1. As for other things it's pretty hard question, because a lot is happening in Poland right now. Not only we have Covid, but there are also a big tax changes (not in favour of regular people) and inflation. So, the prices can (and will) change at any moment. But there's a thing: if you visit a place that's not a tourist's first, second and third choice and you'll do it out of season (which is around June-August in the northern and southern parts and December-February in the southern part) then the prices should be 10-20% lower. And if you don't mind looking for a cheaper places, then you will probably find a lot of restaurants that are even cheaper.
And as for the beverages, the canned beer can cost around 50 cents, and if you go to the pub the same beer will be around $2. The marks that are being advertised as "premium" will cost even more. Especially if you go to some sort of a fair. At those you can count for the double or triple the regular price.
I hope this gave you some sort of image. Sorry, that I can't provide the price ranges, but right now it's just not possible.
