Thanks man! Between this and another video I was able to do it with no prior car repairing experience. My key wasn't stuck inside, but it wouldn't turn, so I only had to take out the cylinder and not the whole steering wheel. Hardest part for me was getting the key to move just enough so those 2 dots align, so I banged on that metal thing again and again and drilled that hole, sprayed dw40 inside the hole... this process took me about 2 hours but no matter, now it's fixed and everything is put back together. Thanks again!
First, your video saved me a lot of time and money in showing in detail great tips and hints in the process. Thank you and very well done. With that said, my favorite part is the fact you prove a wonderful point. Us guys are so much more effective with a good woman behind us both encouraging and kindly guiding us along. Thank heaven for the good women of the world!!!🙂
Fantastic video. This saved me from paying for a tow and mechanic. Thank you so much. I just want to mention that I noticed the cables/modules attached to my ignition lock cylinder were slightly different. My 2012 Jetta didn't have the module visible at 21:20, for instance. None the less, I just transferred the cables which were present over to the new one. All other procedures were completely identical. It started right up once it was put back together.
Awesome how-to video! Greatly appreciate you sharing and for being so thorough in explaining everything including the electrical connectors and how they latch / unlatch.
This was a fantastic video, thank you for a very detailed step by step. I also appreciate the nuance and care you have taken to explain the minute details of replacing this part. Great Job!!!
Hi. I just replaced my ignition switch and snapped a new one into the same lock cylinder. Do I need to reprogram my key to the new ignition switch. I'm not getting any lights in dash when in ACC. Not any power when I try to start the car either. THanks.
10mm socket to disconnect the battery terminal. Torx driver set (T20, T15, T10 if memory serves) for disassembly. Assorted flathead screwdrivers for prying in confined spaces (airbag removal, separating plastic panels, pushing anti-tamper screws). A mirror (not necessary, but very helpful for the airbag). A pick (to manipulate wiring clips) Long 12mm tri-square bit to remove the steering wheel. Tape (to secure the clock spring assembly) A SHARP chisel, about 1/2" or less in width (not too long either, space is confined by the instrument panel visor), to score the anti-tamper screws, plus a hammer. I had to re-sharpen my chisel a couple times on a bench grinder. A long, skinny, HARD pin, along the lines of a paperclip, but I had a really difficult time with a paperclip. Finally, if you choose to put anti-tamper screws back in, you need the correct torx *socket* for them. I opted to use ordinary M8 hex cap machine screws instead.

Great Job!!!
Appreciate that, and thank so much for the great compliment!
Great job with the details. You do very clean work. So many others hack the plastic to get the bolts out. You are a true professional.
Thank you!
Great video! Very thorough! Thank you. Best video on how to fix the key problem
S/O to the camera lady!! Fantastic job!!
Thank you!
I was able to turn off my car after it was running for 6 hours. Thanks to this video!
Wow!
The next step is to replace the ignition. Idk if I will do it, or ask the service ....
You're amazing bro thank you for the very detailed removal.
Thanks, appreciate that!
Awesome video. Thank you! How do I know if I need a lock cylinder or a switch? Any way to diagnose for sure before ordering a switch?
Thanks! Usually if you can turn the key without any problems, it would be the switch, or something else.
Thanks for the video, my dude I got it all taken apart

Thanks for the great video. Is it possible to do this job without removing the steering wheel. Already ordered the part.
Appreciate that, and I'm not sure if it's possible to do the job without removing the steering wheel but then again, I haven't tried.
Hi!
Have you started offering the repair videos for free again?
What about the older ones?
hello i was wondering what tools you used in this video

Were you able to figure it out?
Part number?
Easier way to turn the car off , remove the one relay in the box then disconnect the battery.
