    Which scanning mode did you use ? Did you find some scanning modes better than others ? I have a 36ZP48 and it has a mode that converts the interlaced image to progressive scan, does the 36ZP18 have that ? There's also no 50hz mode mine. Even the modes without image processing (the interlaced to progressive mode I mentioned above) are always converting the image to 100hz. I think the progressive mode looks better but it doesn't feel retro. For the resolution these games put out the non progressive mode is probably better.
    Anyway, can't believe we're talking about these TVs in 2022, but they were the best. The level of contrast they had has only became available in moder tvs recently with OLED TVs, but those have screen burning and probably won't last much, besides costing more....

    • @DadLadsGaming
      @DadLadsGaming  2 года назад +1

      The model we have doesn't do higher progressive images (a shame really).
      It will accept a 480i image which looks pretty good 👍

    Recently got one of these TVs myself and I absolutely love it!
    A few questions. Does your image display clearer when you set the contrast to 49 or lower? The text on mine looks smoother and less bold at 49 contrast vs 50.
    Also what are the settings you have used in the service menu? I can't seem to get it just how I want it and yours looks much better!

    • @CaptainHwx
      @CaptainHwx Год назад

      @@DadLadsGaming Setting the contrast to 49 or lower was a huge improvement as the strange bold effect went away and a lot of the text smoothed nicely.
      As for geometry I've messed around a little but I can't seem to get it perfect. Some straight lines appear slightly warped (which I know is normal) but I'm unsure if it's slightly more prominent on these flat screens

      @@DadLadsGaming Gotcha, does it handle deinterlacing well? I'm considering one of these or similar for PS2/Wii era consoles. I don't notice any real difference between 480i and 480p on my current HDTV so I'm wondering if its the same for these late era CRT's

      SaminPK the TV didn't have a remote so luckily a newer Toshiba remote from a LCD works with it. May be able to zoom in to remove borders but I haven't tried. As for the weight, it's incredibly heavy ha ha ha, and unfortunately my games room is on third floor of the house!

      @@Xerxes1688 the 480p is good on it and add lag too?

    • @Xerxes1688
      @Xerxes1688 4 года назад

      @@ismiismael The lag comes from the forced 100hz refresh rate, the upscaler and the HDMI input. With component video, the lag was much less noticeable, almost non-existent, you only get the slightly forced frames effect due to the 100hz refresh rate. The HDMI input and the upscaler are notorious for being fragile and break easily, specially the upscaler. If it fails, HDMI and component will not work, or only output sound. The tubes are also not that durable.

    • @DadLadsGaming
      @DadLadsGaming  7 лет назад +2

      Lewis Bennett Cooper I've 3 Sony Trinitron CRTs which are excellent, I personally think the picture quality on this is better. You need to keep in mind that if you are using component, it's only 480i. Also depending on the consoles you use, you may have borders with it being a widescreen model. I'm lucking in that I have older 4:3 CRTs and widescreen.

      They can look alright if you output video by S-Video instead of composite, although not as good as SD TV with s-video (typically 25-27" TV or bigger had them).
