Attilio, you are one of the most talented and yet humble photographers on youtube, also a great teacher who explain things clearly and simply. Thank you for taking the time to help us, you can see that is done primarly out of love for photography. I am learning so much from you.

I am seriously blown away with how beautiful your photography is Attilio. It’s a huge credit to you, not just your photography, composition and editing skills but also that you make the physical effort to capture these beautiful scenes. The fact that you do this using the same gear I have sort of makes me feel depressed when I look at my rubbish photos 😂😂😂 However I take consolation that I obviously don’t need to upgrade my gear to the very latest super expensive gear. Keep up the awesome effort Attilio 📷

Thank you so much for this video. You confirmed some things for me. I was once facing the decision to buy the 14-24 *not 12-24 haha, and decided, after much research that all I really needed was the 16-35. Any time someone is thinking of getting into photography and they are on a tight budget I often tell them to grab a Crop sensor body, any will do and buy a 50mm 1.8. You'll learn so much with that lens and it will be with you right on through should you move into Full Frame. Few things beat a nifty fifty but in this video you got me thinking about it in an entirely new way. I'd never thought much of using it for Panos but now I can't wait to try. I did, like most eventually buy the 24-70 and I don't regret it for a moment but I think I'll start keeping my 50 in the bag cause I can certainly see why using that for Panos can reward a much better image. Thank you! I couldn't agree more regarding a telephoto for landscape. The intimacy of a telephoto comp is hard to beat. Lastly, the reason RUclips put me onto this video was that I just purchased the 20mm 1.8 for Astro photography and fireflies. I have a feeling the next time I leave to go on a landscape excursion my bag is going to be much much lighter because of your advice. The 24-70 and even possibly the 16-35 may be staying home and instead being replaced by the 20mm and 50mm. I'll however still be lugging the 70-200 2.8 Can't leave home without that one!
    Looking forward to more content

Having a limited budget I need a lease that does it all. I was advised to buy an inexpensive body and use my available budget on a good lense. I purchased a Nikon D3300 and a Nikon 18-140 lens. For under $1000 I could not be happier with the range of landscape photos I can take.

I take many photos along my local, wild, coastline... and, perhaps surprisingly, I find my preferred lens is an 85mm prime! Sometimes I stick a few frames together for a 'natural' panoramic frame. Yeh, I know that no one asked. ;) Oh yes, I sold my Nikon "trinity" and replaced them with a few primes... I was very tired of inaccurate/unrepeatable auto-focus and a persistent muddy red cast in all Nikkor frames.

    Thanks for your explanation, Attilio.
My favorite lens was the 7-14 f2.8 Olympus Pro, but I only used the 7mm and it's heavy and bulky. Now I've sold it and use the Laowa 7,5mm f2. It's 135 grams, tiny and brilliant image quality!

One of my favorite lenses for long exposure landscape photography is the TS-E 17mm f/4L with the Lee Filters Adaptor Ring. Also the 50mm like you said for the parorama shots! Telephotos are always a must, specially the 70-200mm or the 100-400mm by Canon. Great video as always!

My favorite is the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 ART. I use a Nikon APS-C body, and the sharpness and versatility of the 18-35 are perfect for landscape photography. For most of my landscapes I don't make use of the wide aperture, but it's nice to have it, for the occasional Astro-photography outing.

I love this video. It seems with so many photographers recommend the majorly expensive lenses. Nice to see sensible suggestions. I also loved that you recommend the 50mm 1.8. Since I went full frame a year and a half ago just because my old dx camera died and a now friend offered me a ridiculous deal on D600 and was willing to let me make payments, even though we didn't know each other very well. (we were on a forum together). He even shipped it to me before I paid a single payment. Told me to take as long as I needed to pay for it. Since going full frame, I don't yet have a 50mm 1.8. I hope I can raise the money for one because 30 years ago when I worked in a camera store and made money, I had all kinds of lenses. The 50mm 1.8 was on my camera 75% of the time. Loved it. Now I'm disabled and struggling financially. But I hope to add a nifty 50 one of these days. I was surprised that you mentioned doing panoramic shots vertically. I tried this a few months ago and like it. Mentioned it when I posted the images, and now others are doing it as well. Love your videos. Keep them coming.

Your website is on my favourite list. Love your work . Excellent advice on landscape photography, thank you. I noticed that you have the DJI Mavic Drone. Couple of years I got the DJI Mavic Platinum. Do you do much video work with this Drone ? Unfortunately there are too many restrictions with remotely piloted aircraft systems. I had to register my two DJI Drones with the Government Of Canada/Canadian Aviation Regulations. I can fly only by Visual Line-Of-sight at all times during flight. I can fly Model Airplanes as well but this kind is always visual line of sight. Drones are a lot of fun, but because of some inconsiderate and irresponsible people it's not anymore. Keep up the good work Attilio.

My 2 go-to lenses for LS photography [Nikon] are my 24mm f3.5 PC-e and my Zeiss 20mm. Yes I have the ubiquitous 24-70 f2.8 and my 70-200 f2.8, but if weight is a consideration, it's just the 2 with Lee filters, a cable release and a carbon tripod. Light enough to carry all day, and versatile enough for all pics if you plan the day. PS, excellent video.

For E-mount, I use a Tamron 28-200 f/2.8-5.6 and I often carry my Tamron 35mm f/2.8 or Sony 50mm f/1.8. I have the 85mm f/1.8 but usually reserve it for portrait work. I am considering purchasing a lens in the 18-20mm range to compliment the excellent 28-200. On A mount (Minolta/Sony DSLR) I have an ancient Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4, Sony 50mm f/1.4, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro and Minolta 100-400mm f/SLOW. The Sigma is a bit long in the tooth and flares like no other but used carefully it can make beautiful and very sharp photos. The other 3 lenses I carry are as good as they get. I have 11 or 12 A mount lenses but these are the ones I carry and use most for landscape.

As I mentioned before, I just moved up to a D750 FF from the D5300. My only lens at the present is the 24-120 1.4 kit lens. On a recent trip to Gorgeous Sedona, Az. I rented the 14-24 f2.8, and the 70-200 f2.8. Both were very good great sharp lenses. I was leaning words the 14-24, until I watched your video of course..:) all good. I will rent the 20 and try it out for a weekend, I do landscape and portrait, some real estate pics for a friend. The 50 is a must for me as well. But I do like taking pics with the wide angles for sure. I have a 35 1.8 but it’s for the crop camera. So should I buy the 20 or the 50 first? I’m still learning long exposure, experiments only not good. I think it’s the lens..24-120. Thank you Attilio you are my fav to watch and learn with...oh sorry about that lens that took a dunk at the Vinyard...I live not far from there in Plymouth Ma...home of the Rock..lol.

Very cool that I found this video because I'm just now wanting to get into landscape photography. I've always had a cropped sensor (Nikon D500 & Nikkor 200-500mm) and a long lens for nature and birding but recently picked up a Nikon D700 used but in very good condition and was looking at the Tamron 15-30mm and the very lens you first mention, the Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED. The Nikkor 20mm is going to be my next acquisition! You have a new subscriber on your channel. Incidentally, I already have a Tamron SP-70-200 f/2.8 DI VC USD G2 and love it.

my favorite Lens for Landscape Photography is the Sony/Zeiss 16-70 f/4.0. Many details and very sharp on the A7RIII. My second favorite lens is the Sigma 14mm f/1.8

Excellent video! I have a 70 -300 and a 50 lens and have been looking for the best wide angle. I think you have what I need so that will be my next. I want to do more panoramas so I will try using the 50mm. Your landscapes are awesome!

My favorite wide angle lense has been the Tamron 17 mm f3.5 manual focus lense used primarily with my Nikon N90s. I now use mostly the Tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 DX zoom lense with a Nikon D500 and with a Nikon D850. The Tamron 10-24mm covers the entire FX frame of the D850 starting at 15mm and f3.5 to 24 mm. For $500 US this is a sharp rectilinear lense.

Thanks and Welcome to my channel! For astrophotography you might need a little wider lens... at least a 20mm, but start with the 24 and see if you like it...

Actually I'm a sony user. I was wondering whether Samayang 14mm or Irix 15mm would be better for landscapes as I'm in a very tight budget....

Hi Attilio, I have recently subscribed to your channel and its great. I too have a D810 and have only just recently got more into photography and invested in the Lee100 system. I was going to look at a sigma ultra wide as my next purchase but since it means another filter system that put me off then I saw your channel ... you have convinced me to buy the 20mm 1.8 instead. I too have a 50mm 1.4 and a 70-200mm ... so please keep up your videos so I can learn and be more inspired. Thank you.

My favourite for m4/3 system is the Panasonic-Leica 15mm f/1.7 - set at f/8 it is razor sharp centre to corner (and I use a B+W 10 Stop ND Filter)...

I am a little bit late with my comments. I just found your channel a few weeks ago. I am using, Sony's A6000 with two kit lens and Sony A7M2 cameras. Currently using the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 newer lens so, I am using it more often. Second lens I use is the Sony 70-300mm G 4.5-5.6. Not a G Master Lens! Don't have the money to spend on that one. Third lens is a Rokinon 14mm 2.8 not the best lens and no filter threads! Using the 14mm for night star and occasionally for a wide angle daytime photography. I have the Nifty Fifty 1.8 Sony lens. Got it on sale. It was half price. I don't use it that much! Now I am thinking to use it more after watching this video of yours! I have extension tube set for the Sony cameras also Amazon cheap. I would be interested in learning how to use Lightroom to make a panoramic pictures with the 50mm!
I also sent your RUclips links to my daughter. She has a Canon entry level camera. She shoots macro photography. I gave her my Sony A7R more manual camera and my kit lens. I am trying to get my daughter into shooting raw pictures with it.
Got long-winded! But I really enjoy your Videos!

I have the holy trinity but use the 24-70 most of the time and also the 16-35mm. You are correct about the weight problem! I also have ,and sometimes use, have a Sony A6500 which is so nice to carry as it is very light , very sharp with vibration suppression and I have wide angle lenses for it although it is an APSC camera.
