What a wonderful gem of a presentation, considering how private and reclusive he was said to be. As a longtime fan of his works, I truly appreciate you posting this.

His rendition of Barney Greenwald's drunken speech in "The Caine Mutiny" is the best (my opinion) part of the book. Jose Farrar did an all right version of it in the movie, but the passage as written by Wouk is one of my favorite passages of literature.

Real masterpeices of true wise masterful works rendered by the author in such feeling as to make one heartily laugh and weep along just listening to him.

Just heard of his death. Am very interested in him, now. I'm older and a little wiser than in my youth.
Hopefully HW can stimulate me to stay awake to finish 104 years..WOW....also.

As someone who has discovered Wouk later in life, I really appreciate this. His appreciation for his upbringing and Yiddishkeit had a great influence on all he did and wrote.

I think Barney Greenwald's speech is from the Play (The Caine Mutiny Court Martial) Not the novel. I just finished reading the novel for the umpteenth time.

I read The Hope and The Glory. He treated the Germans better in his other books than he treated the Palestinians in his Israel books. Very one sided. His unwillingness to portray the people who had been supplanted and their side of the story is BS.

Herman Wouk is a member of the all-gay elitists' retreat, along the Russian River, north of San Francisco known as the Bohemian Grove.

I think there is a lot of disinformation about the Bohemian Grove. I would encourage people to do their own research before rendering an opinion. If its such a Hellhole of Sin and Sodomy why is it still operating?
