RIGHT ppl do this in my class (career tech type school) and it drives me crazy bc we're litterally jus doing small engines, just pay the 20-30 bucks, wait a couple days, and amazon will have your engine sealed properly.
The most simplest engine in the world to line up being the Ls and they messed that up maybe they will eventually learn I don’t want to be a hater on the next generation like every one else does.
Great point. There's an alignment dot on both the cam and crank sprocket that I wanted to confirm lined up. You can't see the crank sprocket with the op in place. The comp cams crank sprocket can be set to mechanically advance or retard timing. If I recall it's 4 degrees at a time. The crank sprocket was the culprit in this case. The extra lift from the cam and pushrods + the mechanical advance(or was it retarded it's in the main video) cause the exhaust valve to kiss the piston. Very user friendly.
The red rtv smeared all over tells me everything I need to know…

Do you need a measuring tool for cam install?
Remove the oil pump to line it up? Why not take the gear off the cam? I'm puzzled..

Was that an adjustable timing set? Seems they tried to advance the cam and didnt degree it to verify
How do people get this wrong? It’s baffling…
Destroyed by Incompetence
I put about 13,000 mi on it so far and it runs pretty good. I lucked out
Those lifter trays look upside down. I thought the v went down and didn’t fit the other way
I have driven it 35,000 miles since so either they can be flipped or this is the correct orientation. 🤷♂️
How you do that😬
wat u tay?

That’s not number one cylinder that’s number 2
