  • 2015 Cow of the Year ceremony - Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison.
Excellent-95 Gold Medal Dam, Siemers Dundee Hilda, has been selected as the 2015 Cow of the Year by the Wisconsin Holstein Association. Hilda was bred and developed by Siemers Holsteins located in Newton, Wisconsin and is owned by Jordan Siemers.
Each year, the Wisconsin Purebred Cattle Association selects a cow to represent her breed as the Cow of the Year at World Dairy Expo. The honor is rotated annually between the seven major dairy breeds.
Hilda descends from Mark Prudence through her dam, Mayerlane-DK Rudolph Haiwatha-ET, EX-90 DOM. Hiawatha was purchased by the Siemers family in 2005 for the purpose of bringing in the combination of high type and production characterized by the EX-95 5E GMD DOM Mark Prudence cow family.
Hilda’s selection as Cow of the Year can be attributed to her outstanding career as a show animal and producer. Siemers has shown Hilda successfully for several years, earning many honors including the Overall NASCO Type and Production Award Winner at the 2013 and 2014 World Dairy Expo International Holstein Show; Grand Champion of the International Junior Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo in 2011; and 2011 and 2013 Junior All-American production cow. Her highest production record to date at 4-10 on 2x milking in 365 days produced 56,780 pounds of milk with 3.1%, 1,746 pounds of fat and 3.2%, 1,749 pounds of protein. Her lifetime totals to date with 1,998 test days include over 254,000 pounds of milk with over 8,700 pounds of fat and 8,000 pounds of protein.
At 10 years old, Hilda continues to be an excellent show cow and is beloved by the Siemers family. Jordan says, “Hilda has been a dream come true, a dream that was way larger than I could have ever imagined.”
World Dairy Expo takes place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. The annual dairy industry trade show and cattle show draws more than 70,000 visitors to Madison from around the world. Learn more at worlddairyexpo.com.
