Hi david, thanks for a great set of vids on using the blade sharpener, It's so refreshing to find someone who gets straight to the meat and potatoes instead of waffling on for ages aimlessly. no bs from you, ten out of ten for very useful concise informative videos.
I had also the same problem with the blade retaining knob turning with the blade, cured with an 8mm flat washer between the cup and the knob.

Hi David. To sharpen large blades with rake you need to flip over both the blade and the grinding wheel. The tooth face can then be made inline with the wheel face by angling the mechanism towards you rather than away. Most blades have rake and doing it the way you show the blade fouls on the motor case when I’ve tried to line it up. Having sorted that, I find the machine exellent and will easily pay for itself. Also I needed your video to set it up because the instructions were completely unintelligible. Thanks.
Tks Jim, i was having the same problem and did flip the grinder wheel over. Worked fine, but thought i was doing something wrong, however you just answered that THANK YOU, Blair.

Great videos, I have three questions (bit cheeky), 1 are you still using the machine, 2 we're do you get replacement grind wheels, 3 the bore reduces 10mm & 16mm you made from nuts can you buy reducers or can I use thick washers and tap out threads. I have just ordered the machine and have been watching the videos and I'm very impressed so keep the good work coming.

Having had this for awhile now, would you buy it again? There are different versions of this machine out there, and as best I can tell, the only difference is the coloring and whether or not it comes with a water tank. The two brands appear to be Vevor and Morphon, and both seem to make identical machines. It's near impossible to get any other details on the different models. I'm thinking of buying the least expensive one, which seems to be what you have. So, would you get it again? Thanks!

In a word yes, it's very easy to use and save a lot of money and time if I was to send blades away but In the past I didn't I just bought new blades lol so yes I have very happy with this machine, after an initial tune up this now perfect

Hi David awesome video's, excellent idea on the feeler gauge !!. On the top grinding video you used a "angle finder" do you still suggest this" after some of the comments i am still a bit confused on the top grind. Maybe do another short video for us? Also maybe dumb question ' but how do you know when your at the end of the sharpening for a blade. I have my blades done by a reputable guy and when say's "last time to sharpen, it still "appears" to be good. THANK YOU, Blair.
Smashing, I have finally got my machine today, DHL lost the first one. Your issue with the knob coming loose, seems to maybe have been fixed by the manufacturers with them adding a fat rubber cup shaped washer between the knob and the large pressed washer. I dunno how effective that fix actually is, but might be an option to look at, as I am still stripping it out, honing rough faces, and re-greasing etc.
Hi Brian, thats good news make it perfect before you stop or you will never find the time again to strip it so as its very useful, please learn about the rubber stopper and if it really works i would love to know how so i can copy it. Thanks David
@@dmgladden I should be able to work more on my machine on Thursday. I don't like the design of the casting that sets the rake angle. The lock method, (the knob under the slide) may have worked better on the opposite side of the casting, to stop the heavy slide dropping a little when loosened to rotate to set the rake angle. Not a biggie, but a design flaw in my book.
If you have a link I can send photos to, let me know. The threaded pin for the knob to screw onto, may be a little longer on my machine, as the washer is about 20mm thick (from memory)
@@dmgladden Hi David. I have set my machine up now, and have sharpened a couple of blades. My Dewalt 24t table saw blade first, to practice, and it came out well. I have the same mitre saw as you, and was shocked at how dull the teeth actually were, though it has seen a lot of use. They were visibly (with an eye glass) rounded over, so face and top grinding was required. It cuts like butter now, lovely and clean.
The rubber washer I mentioned works nicely though if moving the blade anti-clockwise, not perfectly. I now rotate the blade clockwise, as the 30mm arbour that gets screwed on to the 8mm stud had a habit of unscrewing if I rotated anticlockwise.
Measurements of mine
Height of 8mm stud from slide = 30mm
Diameter of rubber washer = 23mm
diameter of hole through washer = 7.8mm
Height of rubber washer = 10mm
Washer counterbore diameter = 12.8mm
depth of counterbore = 5.8mm
I fit the cup of the rubber washer facing downwards.
I thought that if there was a kerf on the saw blade... to maintain it, you would only grind every second tooth & then flip the blade over to grind the alternate teeth that were missed out. Is it an issue on some blades & not others? or am I making it unnecessarily complicated? I have vague memories of the old days when I used to sharpen my Diston hand saw which included a tool to press out the teeth to a certain kerf & then sharpen each tooth in alternate direction.
I’ve just got one of these. You tilt the motor one way for every second tooth and then tilt it the same amount the other way for the other teeth.

Hi Mike thanks for watching, this machine or very similar is being sold by a number of sellers on ebay it comes from China and now i see the machine has been upgraded to a water cooled one and i think a little cheaper.
Can you also grind the outer/top surfaces of the teeth, or just the face? Maybe if you swing the blade carrier all the way around to the right?
Never mind, just saw your other video. This machine looks like a pretty good deal.
