Imagine coal miners going to work and then the mine shaft collapses and they can't return to the surface. The coal company says that "They are not stranded, and besides, they are trained professionals that are used to being underground." After eight months of dropping food and water to the miners, the company still insists that they are not stranded. This is NASA.

Here's the logical flaw in your comment:
Are those coal miners trained to stay 8 months underground continuously?
Is 8 months a standard time of miners to be underground continuously?
The Astronauts are trained for 8 months of space and 8 months is also a standard time.

Those who don't know, the average time an astronaut spends in space is 6 months. And this is average. In some missions it is more than this. Sunita has previously spent 8 months at ISS. The longest time an astronaut spent in space was 14.5 months. It was done by Valeri Polyakov. So this delay of Sunita and Butch is nothing to panic about.
