Why these young ladies are not playing in front of thousands baffles me. They are one of the best bands out there. I don't quite understand why they are basically ignored by the music media. They truly deserve recognition.
It's mystery for everybody. Maybe God just has mercy on us hardcore fans, and lets us enjoy such an intimate closeness with the band for a while? It would be the best course of things: they play tiny venues until they are, say, 40, produce 15 great albums with 300 songs, then they get media attention, and become billionaires. And then they retire :-)
Sometimes it's up to the fans to help them become popular. Recommend them to people that you know and keep promoting the band in forums or social media. When there are lots of people clicking on Band-Maid videos in the sidebar, the RUclips algorithm will prioritize them in the recommendation list. It happened to me back in 2015 when I was watching Babymetal videos and then I saw Real Existence in the sidebar.

They invent something incredibly great, but then they get bored with it rather quickly, and move to something else. I was actually hoping for more guitar/bass battles during their OKYUJIs. But it seems the crowdless performances don't bring them much joy, so, they go pretty low-key there. In 2020, they were still adding some extra solos and intros, but in 2021 they were playing more like in a studio, defaulting to the standard versions.
Where ever the word bass or bass player is defined or described there should ALWAYS be an image of MISA! She is a brilliant musician. I love this band!
The vantage point of the camera/recorder was on the bass side. As a result, we can hear Misa's great bass play even more than usual. She's great, and pure charm, quiet charisma. Kanami on guitar is truly world class, one of the best performing today. So the great drummer. Band Maid is pure excitement, energy. I hope they become globally successful.

@@VladimirChupin Yeah, Mikio Fujioka was a kind of mentor to Akane and Kanami, and when he died they both wrote nice tributes to him, as did a number of other Japanese musicians, including Midori of Lovebites. The members of the Japanese groups recently receiving attention in the West--Babymetal, Bandmaid, Lovebites, Maximum the Hormone, etc--all know each other. The Japanese music market is extremely competitive but also fraternal and cooperative, as musicians should be.
Woah--nice to get a head full of Misa's extraordinary and powerful "beast bass"on this! She just drives it so hard with Akane, that supple, potent groove is undeniable. I could hear some of Kanami's blistering leads, can you imagine how much fun she has playing over the top of this rhythm section? Astounding...
Not only is Misa extremely talented, she's also versatile and knows what to play when. I've heard some bassists who just play slap on every song, no matter the style the song is. Misa knows when to slap, when play aggressively, when to play melodically (sometimes all in the same song).
MISA's hero, Paz Lenchantin has been doing it for years with Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle, Zwan and solo. She doesn't do it all the time like MISA though.
I know this sounds like a goofy observation, but I have to say that Akane has really great posture when she plays....sits up nice and straight but still very relaxed....She's a show on her own...Every member of this band really is fun to watch!!!....
You know that she damaged her back at the beginning of her career in BAND-MAID? Since then, she was definitely working on correcting her pose, and now she does not hang her head while drumming, which she did before.

as much as I want Band-Maid to explode world wide I'm selfish in saying that I'm glad they are not yet popular. Watch them play in LA last Nov was such an awesome time. I was standing in front of Misa stage left and at most maybe 200 fans. The intimate relationship that Band-Maid has with their fans at the small venues is priceless. But they deserve to be bigger. I can't wait to see them again in LA later this month

The recorded sound was the best in Hamburg videos. Now I understand that the best location for a recording mic is in front of a loudspeaker. In Paris, I stood behind it. Kanami was not heard at all...

thank you for this amazing footage. I love baby metal, but this band has it all A COMPLETE PACKAGE. Their songs can be on repeat at any given time either on stage or in home or in a car. They are so raw and refreshing to the rock music world. This band needs a major promoter not just Live Nation but a person that says "fuck it, I'm going to put them in a BIG ASS STAGE and blow everyones mind". They don't need no huge ass stage production like baby metal, all they need is to show their talent on stage and the rest is history. The music speaks for itself.
Thanks Vlad!! Once again you get the best Misa/Akane angles!! I pretty much have run out of superlatives for Akane. I mean she is so slick, tremendous feel. Look at how loose her shoulders, arms, wrists and body are. Someone taught her right. She is in total charge of the songs and her kit. She just is totally Badass. I really enjoyed seeing exactly what she is doing during Clang. She just builds the different rhythms effortlessly and she crushes on "You" as well. Really always appreciate your "Up" Vlad!

I think the Japanese people, in general, understand life better than we the Westerners. It's such a simple thing, to recognize that money is not all you need in the world, but alas, most of the businesses in the West are money-centred. In Japan, when you start a business, the idea is not to make money, but to do well what you have purposed to do-and the money will come naturally, as a byproduct of hard work. If your business is not profitable, for the Japanese people it simply means that you are not serving the society well. Like the doubts Akane had when she was invited to join the all-girls band. She said that the girls usually don't have enough motivation, and don't work hard enough. That was her only concern: not that she will not make a lot of money, etc.

They have the same goal, every members support each other and sacrifice their private life for the music. And now they're pushing 30. Akane turned 30 recently. Saiki has improved significantly over the past year. She already had that magical power in her voice before, but it was not so perfectly expressed as in Unseen World songs. The band has reached a new level, definitely...
It's kind a funny. I think they do it on purpose so the roadie won't be standing around and get bored. Sometimes you see him smiling and talking to the girls while performing 2hr shows.

Sadly they won't be playing small venues like this for much longer. Beyond amazing. That stage is dangerous AF. They have a white line to warn of a drop right into that steel barrier.
Even if they step too far ahead, it's not that dangerous, because the stage is very low, almost at the ground level. And the fans will definitely catch them if they fall :-)
I think both training and inborn talent. In order to be an entertainer like this, you have to be born with that quality. The same for guitar playing-or any other musical instrument, for that matter. There are many people who spend years learning guitar, and still that guitar in their hands looks like it's an enemy they fight with. And there are people like Kanami, where the guitar seems to be singing all by itself, when she takes it in her hands. The same for MISA, of course. One touch of a finger, and her bass starts roaring like a motorbike when you start its engine. In case of Akane, it looks like her drum kit is the extension of her brain-not even of her hands and feet, but literally of her brain. That rhythm seems to be borne with a speed much faster than the human limbs can move. But OK, she's only half-human, maybe that's why...

Only drum&bass from that corner, sorry... The best sound was in Hamburg. Bochum was OK, but a little bit of reverb was present. It seems I was in the wrong sound zone. If I would be a bit further from the stage, I would probably get the perfect stereo base.

MISA MISA MISA !!! 😜 It has turned into a very interesting mix, that the sound is so much preferring MISA's bass. I came to appreciate her even more. Even though "more" was probably not possible, she was always my major crush in BAND-MAID. Although I must confess that Mincho in Hamburg has stolen my heart...
Sometimes she does have a mic. In Japan, she usually does have one. Although she does not provide any backing vocals. She uses that mic for the "opening ceremony," when she opens a beer can, so that the audience may hear the sound.
Sadly, Kanami-san, you are once again in the back of this video for most of it. Of all of the ladies in this group, I think that Kanami looks like she is having the most fun. Watch her as she is jamming and she just looks serene as she is tapping away or jamming out in front. In both the videos and the live shows, she really looks like she is having fun playing her heart out for us.
Some people on Reddit complained that my phone obscures their view, and therefore I decided to stay at the side as much as possible. I was not able to do in Bochum, because a security guy would not let me. In Hamburg, I was also at side, but at that concert I decided to switch to Kanami's side. And it was a good decision. I appreciated her so much more.

My main complaint is that Kanmai is minimized in the official videos when I really feel that she is the backbone of the group. Of course, your video also made me realize how awesome a guitarist that Rika is. @@felinious Thanks a lot! Somebody else said that it would be good to record the concerts, but it's terrible when all 100 people start doing it. There should be a few appointed filmers with good cameras, and the rest should concentrate on jumping and screaming, and encouraging the band, resting assured that the concert will have a good coverage, and recordings will be made available later. Basically, it's a question of co-ordination. I don't know, though, how it should best be done...

@Vincent Sherwin Somebody commented in the Facebook group (probably based on personal experience) that it's a nightmare to use wireless during international tours, because there is no unified standard for frequencies, etc.
Don't forget about AKANE, she is the master mind in the Band....she control the beat and tempo and others following her 😉

thank you for this amazing footage. I love baby metal, but this band has it all A COMPLETE PACKAGE. Their songs can be on repeat at any given time either on stage or in home or in a car. They are so raw and refreshing to the rock music world. This band needs a major promoter not just Live Nation but a person that says "fuck it, I'm going to put them in a BIG ASS STAGE and blow everyones mind". They don't need no huge ass stage production like baby metal, all they need is to show their talent on stage and the rest is history. The music speaks for itself.

Look at how loose her shoulders, arms, wrists and body are. Someone taught her right. She is in total charge of the songs and her kit. She just is totally Badass. I really enjoyed seeing exactly what she is doing during Clang. She just builds the different rhythms effortlessly and she crushes on "You" as well. Really always appreciate your "Up" Vlad!

I think the Japanese people, in general, understand life better than we the Westerners. It's such a simple thing, to recognize that money is not all you need in the world, but alas, most of the businesses in the West are money-centred. In Japan, when you start a business, the idea is not to make money, but to do well what you have purposed to do-and the money will come naturally, as a byproduct of hard work. If your business is not profitable, for the Japanese people it simply means that you are not serving the society well. Like the doubts Akane had when she was invited to join the all-girls band. She said that the girls usually don't have enough motivation, and don't work hard enough. That was her only concern: not that she will not make a lot of money, etc.
@@VladimirChupin They do work hard, don't they? Real hard. That's why they're so close knitted. They have the same goal, every members support each other and sacrifice their private life for the music. And now they're pushing 30. Akane turned 30 recently. I really thank band-maid for their enormous effort.

Sadly they won't be playing small venues like this for much longer. Beyond amazing. That stage is dangerous AF. They have a white line to warn of a drop right into that steel barrier.
Even if they step too far ahead, it's not that dangerous, because the stage is very low, almost at the ground level. And the fans will definitely catch them if they fall :-)

Miku is beyond cute. In the MVs she seems very sexy, but in real life she is very adorable. It must be that idol training.
I think both training and inborn talent. In order to be an entertainer like this, you have to be born with that quality.
The same for guitar playing-or any other musical instrument, for that matter. There are many people who spend years learning guitar, and still that guitar in their hands looks like it's an enemy they fight with. And there are people like Kanami, where the guitar seems to be singing all by itself, when she takes it in her hands.
The same for MISA, of course. One touch of a finger, and her bass starts roaring like a motorbike when you start its engine.
In case of Akane, it looks like her drum kit is the extension of her brain-not even of her hands and feet, but literally of her brain. That rhythm seems to be borne with a speed much faster than the human limbs can move. But OK, she's only half-human, maybe that's why...

The best sound was in Hamburg.
Bochum was OK, but a little bit of reverb was present. It seems I was in the wrong sound zone. If I would be a bit further from the stage, I would probably get the perfect stereo base.

She said she wants all bassists to learn that trick. She holds the pick with her index finger when switching to slap.
@@VladimirChupin After studying the video, I understand how she does it. I've tried it .... and I've tried it again .... and again. You have to get used to using the other fingers and not drop the fucking pick all the fucking time :-) ....and you have to be faast man!

It has turned into a very interesting mix, that the sound is so much preferring MISA's bass. I came to appreciate her even more. Even though "more" was probably not possible, she was always my major crush in BAND-MAID.

Sometimes she does have a mic. In Japan, she usually does have one. Although she does not provide any backing vocals. She uses that mic for the "opening ceremony," when she opens a beer can, so that the audience may hear the sound.

Sadly, Kanami-san, you are once again in the back of this video for most of it. Of all of the ladies in this group, I think that Kanami looks like she is having the most fun. Watch her as she is jamming and she just looks serene as she is tapping away or jamming out in front. In both the videos and the live shows, she really looks like she is having fun playing her heart out for us.
Some people on Reddit complained that my phone obscures their view, and therefore I decided to stay at the side as much as possible. I was not able to do in Bochum, because a security guy would not let me. In Hamburg, I was also at side, but at that concert I decided to switch to Kanami's side. And it was a good decision. I appreciated her so much more.
@@VladimirChupin No worries. It is hard to get everyone when you are in the crowd doing the filming. My main complaint is that Kanmai is minimized in the official videos when I really feel that she is the backbone of the group. Of course, your video also made me realize how awesome a guitarist that Rika is. These ladies are truly talented and I am happy that people like yourself do all this work to share their hard work with us!
@@felinious Thanks a lot! Somebody else said that it would be good to record the concerts, but it's terrible when all 100 people start doing it. There should be a few appointed filmers with good cameras, and the rest should concentrate on jumping and screaming, and encouraging the band, resting assured that the concert will have a good coverage, and recordings will be made available later.
Basically, it's a question of co-ordination. I don't know, though, how it should best be done...
