OMG I literally needed this so much thank you! I got my blood test back last week and it was a really high positive result and my GP said I had it but then told me to go gluten free straight after that so I did. My mum was speaking to someone she knows who is a Coeliac dietitian and asked if I should have gone gluten free at that stage. Turns out the answer was no and I now have to do a 6 week gluten challenge so I can get a second blood test to confirm my diagnosis because my GP who clearly knew nothing told me to cut it out too early and never even mentioned a second blood test. I’m extremely annoyed about it and it’s been making me really anxious as I’m so confused by it all. It’s really good to hear from someone who actually has a qualification in this and is specialised in the disease.
Very informative, I’m also going to use this opportunity to recommend Dr IGUDIA on RUclips who cured my coeliac disease with his natural herbs medication
SUCH a great video! Thank you for taking the time to make this! I am currently going through the diagnosis process. My twin sister has an unexplained gluten allergy, they weren't ever able to prove if she is or isn't coeliac, as she wasn't able to see a doctor during the lockdown and so stopped gluten without doing a test, but a doctor has confirmed that there is a gluten allergy of some kind. I have since started getting the same symptoms, which are quite intense and have put me in hospital on several occasions now. But I live in France where the coeliac awareness, and just dietary awareness in general is really far behind other countries so I am struggling to get a doctor to actually take me seriously, most of them only want to consider that my symptoms are related to stress. So thank you so much for this video it answered so many of my questions and confirmed a lot of what I had read online. Hopefully I can now take this information and go back and push for a coeliac test. Do you know whether the coeliac uk app works for barcodes on products in other countries?
This was SO useful. I recently got my blood test back and got a very high positive result, and like someone else who commented, I was sent away and told to cut gluten out. So frustrating. I decided to do some research first and have not cut it out, but booked another doctors appointment to ask for another test and a referral. This video was really useful in giving an insight in what I should expect in the diagnosing process. Thank you!
This is a great video thanks. I’ve been diagnosed now for 5 years. Since then I have discovered I have IBS and lactose intolerance too, I cannot eat the gf clean oats, struggle with peanuts too had some recently which the packet made no mention of gluten or may contain etc yet still had symptoms and some kind of reaction to them. Bloating is the most common along with brain fog, low mood and tiredness. Great advice in this video
Check the packet. If it says made in an environment where gluten containing products are made, don't eat. I find peanuts are OK, but you MUST read the packet.
This was soooo helpful. I found that I can’t eat cheese and some other dairy products but now hearing that it might be due to coeliac intolerance or allergy, that makes so much sense. I hope one day I can tolerate lactose and my hay fever will go away ☺️.
I have an intolerance to gluten, told to follow gluten free diet. What happened to me with regard to blood test came back ok but I had a breathless, sleepiness, throat closing also. It was very frightening.
Hi, can you please please please suggest a protein powder which is safe for Coeliac patients, i am from Australia. Happy to go for plant based protein powder too. Please reply
In Australia, oats is not gluten free. I can’t have “certified gluten free” oats. They have proven it’s not safe for celiacs. I go with their scientist. Not mine here in the states. I also have fructose malabsorption. Germany helped me to figure out what I can eat. I had to get help from out other countries. And to boot, I am plant based. So, I am 80% starch based (potatoes and rice). :-)
Oats have avenin which is like the cousin to gluten and affects those who have coeliac disease. So even if oats are gluten free and have not been contaminated by gluten when processed on manufacturing equipment that also processes gluten containing grains, it is still unsafe for coeliacs.
So I don't technically have the disease, but I've always been intolerant and gluten agrivates my fibromyalgia pain and causes a lot of flares. Recently though, I've realized that I might be allergic. Not tested, but last few times I've had it, my asthma acts up. That is the same thing that happens with pork and bananas. I currently live in the US, but I wanted to find someone to help me with UK, because I am going for my masters and hopefully a work visa afterwards starting in January. I'm surprised at what I'm hearing from this. So many different things that I was not told of in the US.
I do not agree personality. I am seronegative, diagnosed 7 years with Marsh 3b, 2 years ago I still had a Marsh 3a eith eoe and gastropareisis. Many oeoole with refractory celiac disease are serinegative.

So if I’m coeliac and purchased gluten free oats in Australia, you advise I shouldn’t eat them?
