*Lunin is only on £45k at Real so terms wont be an issue. We will probably start him at £70k on a 7 year + 1 deal. He will be first choice keeper immediately. He is good with his feet and generally all round. He is an immediate upgrade on what we have already*
Good with the feet alright. But is "good" good enough for what Maresca expects? Kepa would be but he has other troubles. Petrovic would not quite be there but he's already at the club. Sanchez isn't but he once was so he might get there again. (also what about Slonina while we're at it?) He arguably saved Chelsea’s season. Cucu has perfected the LB inverted LB role. Chilwell is a shadow of his former self and needs intervention). DM: Caciedo (Can be excellent at breaking up attacks and starting the counterattack, which is his primary role. Needs to work on his fouling and passing) AM: This position is the most difficult for the team (for many reasons). Enzo is good at passing but not as good as we all thought. He is very poor at shooting. That’s his biggest drawback. The recent social media issue doesn’t help his case. Maresca may need to turn to Lavia here. Playmaker No. 10: Palmer LW: Nicholas Jackson (one of Chelsea’s best ball carrier. Excellent dribbling, layoff, holdup and his strength on the ball is unmatched at Chelsea (except for Reese). His finishing needs improvement and heading as well. Playing NJ as a LW brings out his best qualities and minimizes his weaknesses, which can be eliminated through training. RW: Madeuke (The most direct player at Chelsea willing to take players on. This might not be Maresca style though… Necause of this, I think Maresca will play Palmer at RW and move Carney in the 10 position. While we're discussing keepers, can we at least discuss Slonina? How is he doing? Is he good with his feet? How is his development going? Maybe we don't need anybody new if Slonina is developing well. Petrovic should be able to do what Maresca wants much better than Sanchez. I genuinely don't recall a single misplaced pass from Petro and I don't know why it's constantly about Sanchez being the No.1 and Sanchez being the right profile and never about how Petrovic is the better keeper in all areas except claiming crosses. I also don't know who is out there that would actually fit the profile (but that's likely due to us actively looking at lower profile keepers).

I don't buy the "same profile for each position" narrative for positions except for CBs. If you have a rigid system and a squad capable of playing a single way, you will be figured out. Different profiles provide the tactical variation in a rigid system. Imagine you're 1-0 down, completely neutralised tactically and you bring on the exact same player on. And similar for Petrovic. If you have a progressive GK starting and another on the bench, it is always true that the bench GK is much inferior as a goalie. And if we have to bring a GK in, it's always sensible to go for a reliable pair of hands than a GK who half asses both departments. Of course it's great if both are good at both aspects, like at City. But City also had Ederson and Steffen, and Steffen was their backup because of his ability on the ball. Whenever he came on, he shat all over the box with his goalkeeping. And Sanchez is closer to Steffen than to Ortega. Petrovic is significantly better at the basics of shot stopping.
Petrovic was surprisingly good, I mean really good, I’d be happy to keep him as number 1. He is also young so if he isnt as good as we want him to be with his feet, then just teach him! He looks like a guy who would learn!

Lunin could easily be the n.1 goalkeeper in Real if his competition was not Courtois. Yesterday I watched their training and Courtois looked so slow and heavy in comparison to Lunin, but all the same he will be first choice.
