NOFOMO
Just saw you guys on I 95 south in stony creek VA
Finally it is there! Intresting you are going with these wheelhouses in the back. Most trucks I have seen so far tend to use flatbeds.
Good Observation!
You are correct that many Unimog owners use the sub-frame from the flatbed or even leave the flatbed on to attach the living quarters.
We have the custom sub-frame from Hellgeth, which is about 6-8cm lower than the standard sub-frame. The Hellgeth sub-frame helps lower the center of gravity, but necessitates the wheel-arches in the back.
The Boxmanufaktur put 500kg on the back and lifted the front left and the back right wheel with two forklifts to determine the dimension of the wheel-arch, so there is no contact with full compression of the wheel.
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG You have done everything right! I don't see a large Problem with the wheelarches as long as you dont want to locate shower directly over the axle!
I drove passed you guys in crystal river, Florida. Glad I saw your RUclips name on the back. Your unimog is so awesome! Wish I had the chance to chat with you guys. Good luck on your adventures!
Glad to meet you in”passing” LOL, Casey. We really need to get a bigger sticker and I am glad you caught it. We’re in Hog’s Island now. Sorry that we hadn’t had a chance to connect in Crystal River. I am little bit behind on my RUclips videos, but you can also catch me on Instagram at NOFOMOG.
Have a great day!
Dirk
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG I think the sticker size is perfect! I read it just fine and I was on the right side of you. I will definitely go check out your Instagram! Safe travels to you both!
Just saw you driving down rt 113 that thing is bad ass!
Thanks Evan!!
I just saw you guys on I 95 south in Stoney Creek Virginia
Cool. Yeah, we’re heading to Florida right now to get away from the cold in the Northeast.
Been waiting for this one. keep them coming.
Amazing build guys. Very impressive
Thank you. We are super happy with it!!
Simple and practical layout
have a safe journey
Finally my dream furniture placement!
This looks soooo elegant inside, i envy you :)
Btw have you got any plan of interior including dimensions? If so would be possible to share?
Subscribed obviously and greetings from Poland!
Thank you for the kind comments and subscribing. Unfortunately we don’t have a floor plan and dimensions for the interior, as we had our builder JOKO duplicate a previous customers build we absolutely liked (as you can certainly understand). We are currently traveling in Florida and I don’t have any measurement tape onboard.
Cheers,
Dirk
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG do you mind let us know how much it costs?
I had the answer,thankyou
Nice its finally done :-)
looks amazing , have you a link for the bed design
Thanks Robert. The manufacturer of the bed is Alu Line (Alu-line.de), but they only deal with OEMs. My builder went via ZepBox to get the bed. zepbox.de/index.html
We had originally planned to get the electric bed from project2000 (Italian), but I prefer a mechanical solution.
Less weight high up and less things to break.Hope that helps.
this is great adventure story, love your videos and of cause the MOG! I like to do something like this in the future! May I ask how and difficult it is to get your auto licences while in Europe? I heard, some countries are really difficult and almost impossible!! Thanks, and keep your good video coming! I am from Canada!
Thanks for the positive feedback Richard.
As a tourist you won’t need a German license to drive a car or Unimog while in Germany. Your Canadian license just need to cover the vehicle you are driving, even it is registered in Germany.
Even if you were to set up residence in Germany, you have one year to convert your license before you’d be breaking the law.
The conversion process can be quite challenging and depends on the country and even state your license is from and the county you are attempting the conversion.
Many moons ago,I converted my Virginia license to a German one without issues, but most people (even back then) believed it couldn’t be done.
But then again, most people aren’t NOFOMO!
🤣🤣
I hope this helps and good luck with your project.
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG i believe you are living in Europe, may i ask how and where you got your insurances while in the States? I saw there‘s so many people driving around the world, it must be expensive! and i remember its very expensive if someone wish to drive through China?
@@kcryeung1 Hi Richard,
I have been living in the USA for almost two decades and are a local for aUS insurance. Therefore, I can lend you limited advice on your question. I have hear that Thum insurance offers this type of insurance for foreigners . Also I think Seabridge Tours in Germany also may be able to help. I would recommending contacting both of them for more information.
Awesome build! What are box dimensions? Looking to build a u1550l 37 in 2021 and trying to figure out the box and floor plan now. Thanks in advance and happy adventuring! - Ryan
Thank you Ryan,
The dimensions of the box in cm are:
362 length
229 wide
216 high
Good luck with your project!
Dirk
How long is de Box ?
Looks great!
I am in the process of planning my own Unimog travel vehicle and would love to get a copy of your floor plan with dimensions. Could you send that to me?
Miguel,
I actually don’t have a plan with dimensions. Feel free to contact my builder Mr Kondmann at JOKO. Maybe the two of you can work something out.
He has done a fantastic job with the electrical system as well.
I rude that in an upcoming video.
Cheers,
Dirk
Thanks, Dirk. I’ll contact Mr. Kondmann.
Looking forward to your next video.
Miguel
Hi there where is the bike rack from? Thanks
Hi Adam, the bike rack is from Atlas4x4.de
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG do you have a link for it please? thanks
@@adamelkoussy1 It looks like it is no longer in their catalog:
atlas4x4.de/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Unimog-Produkte-9_2021_Atlas4x4-.pdf
You can try to contact them directly. Email is on the first page of the catalog.
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG thank you!
Looks good. What system did you use for the dropdown bed

Would you mind to share the floor plan or the outer dimensions of the camper box?
I actually don’t have a floorplan per se, but here are the dimensions in cm:
362 length
229 wide
216 high
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG I’m also very curious about the bed lift. Would you mind to share the name of the product?
@@wilhelmalmer6753 The manufacturer is: www.alu-line.de/de/produkte/bettsysteme/?navid=892771373146
However they only deliver to OEMs. My builder acquired it through Zeppbox.de
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG A year later and my Unimog build is still not done. Ordered the bed from Zeppbox and struggled to get it delivered to the UK, where truck and camper box are being build. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge - I really appreciate it! I expect the truck ready to be shipped in October! Super exciting! Please let me know, If there's any chance to learn from how you managed to import the truck to the US. I want to make everything right according to the rules. Maybe we can connect outside of RUclips? Silvia and I are from Austria and we live in the US since 2008.

What year is your unimog?
Hi, the Unimog is from 1992.
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG that is amazing. Thank you so much.
@@Killmonize No problem. As you see, Unimog are timeless!
😁
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG I really want to get into the unimog community. I think it is a timeless design.
@@Killmonize Definitely a classic. I would recommend joining a forum like expedition portal or benzworld. There are a lot of experts there you can learn from. I would also recommend Unimurr, but most of the info is in German.
