    That little key opens the old fashioned paper tacho, this used to hold a wax disk hat recorded your speed, drivers hours, rest for24 hours

    those fold down covers for the lights are a remnant from the military, this mog was a geman army truck once. When driving at night in dangerous areas the headlights where covered with a cap that had a tiny slit and you used those things to cover all the dashboard lights. Kind of like silent running in a submarine, as little light emission as possible.

      It’s called „Tarnlicht“ (camouflage light) in German. The turn-switch on the left of the dashboard is for different levels of camouflage. The blue light shade helps to reduce light pollution

    I loved to MOG I just met you good folks in the Fred Meyer parking lot in Portland, Or with my obnoxiously loud radio in my Harley Davidson cant wait to see the build out.

    The two yellow ‚buttons‘ in the middle of the console would turn on and off when the blue lights would be turned on. The military ambulance version has those in the original version.

      It drives us nuts. Clearly the low man on the totem pole was tasked with the UN white respray!

    The key for opening the speedo is mainly used to insert a paper tachograph which is used to record drivers hours and speed in Europe

    The rotary switch below the washing liquid is to turn on the auxiliary infrared lights. As this was only to be done on explicit order the are sealed to avoid accidental engagement.

    365 80 R20 is = to 14.0 R20
    Cabin blower fan is not easy to remove for repairs as the entire ducting across the back of the engine needs to be removed.

      We will. We have been so busy the last few months. We moved from Texas to Washington. We’ve been setting up the new shop and building vans for other people. We’ve done a few things to the unimog but not enough!

    Excellent video. When I find my Mog I’ll be calling for a custom composite build if your game. Do you mind sharing how much your 1990 Mog cost? I’m in the market for a 25 year old Mog.

    • @RoamOverlandVehicles
      @RoamOverlandVehicles  3 года назад +2

      The cost of these vary a lot. You can get them as cheap as $28,000 all the up to $100,000+ for the just the unimog. Mine was about mid range in that cost. Look for turbo motor and high speed axles when you start looking.

    • @WADZUP
      @WADZUP 3 года назад

      @@RoamOverlandVehicles That’s what my expectations and research also reflect. What would a build from you range in cost and time?

    • @RoamOverlandVehicles
      @RoamOverlandVehicles  3 года назад

      The build time I’d estimate 4-6months of full time 5days a week type of thing. Cost. I’d estimate a fully decked out overlanding rig would be well over $200,000.

      We are currently super busy with van conversions but we’re hoping to do a basic build out for the summer to camp in. Hopefully this fall we can remove the existing habitat and start getting to work on this beast!

      You want the turbo charged motor, high speed axles and watch for rust
