[S] Collide was a culmination of absurdly long stretches of hard work, intricate plans torn asunder, and the simple wish to change fate through sheer force of will. The music is a powerful reflection of that will.
@@literally3991 eh, that's not 100% obvious. It's not unreasonable to imagine that there could be people here, in this comment section, that haven't read Homestuck. I haven't read it and I'm here. I just really like the music.
It's been years since I first learned of homestuck and read through the entire story. Even still, I remember it not for the flaws, or the fandom, or the drama. I was lucky enough to read it during a time where the fandom wasn't so active, but right before Hiveswap went into production. I have fond memories and fond sadness for that time, reflected in my recollection of [S] Collide. Each song is absolutely insane and wonderful on its own, Creata being a beautiful beginning, Oppa Toby Style being bombastic and fun, Eternity Served Cold being the tense and heart wrenching near defeat. And every time I listen to this album completely through, I think each song as it plays is the best until the next one comes on. All is dwarfed and overrun by just the first few notes of Heir of Grief. I am reminded again and again the absolute masterpiece that is Heir of Grief. Perhaps it's just because I forget it intentionally until the moment I hear that beginning again, just to feel the same emotions I did upon first watching the animation. Homestuck may be dying, it may be dead. But this album, these songs, the effect it had on all of us, will always be remembered.
Im currently in the middle of an rp with my best friend, wherein we are using our fantrolls to essentially go through a process much like Sgrub. By the time we get to the end of this grand journey, i wanna be able to hear Heir of Grief coming up from my soul and into my stupid little homestuck ears.
Endgame's climax: Can I copy your homework?
[S]: Collide: Sure but change it a bit so it isn't obvious.
