@@Crepetomaniac It's... debatable, I think? The epilogue REALLY tries to confuse you about how much of it is actually canon. I... *think* she canonically got sucked into the black hole just as the "weapon" fired? I only read one route, but that was *probably* the "more canon" one, given that the other explicitly avoids returning to what in-universe characters consider to be "canon" to load the weapon. I honestly wouldn't recommend reading the epilogue, it's... not great.
The sheer existence of lil Cal, and by extension Lord english was paradoxical. The children were able to create a new universe and enter it, with it permanently being kept safe and barred from English. Meanwhile, the destruction of the Green Sun by Doomed Calliope made Lord English lose his immense power, allowing the army to finally defeat him once and for all. However, due to how everyone was tricked into creating the green sun, all the way back in Cascade, Lord English will simply be reborn due to the nature of paradox space. However, that doesn't matter anymore. Everybody was able to get their happy ending in the new Universe, and English will never be able to plague it. He's trapped in the doomed timeline, constantly cycling between his rebirth in Cascade and his death in Act 7.
No, they're currently in the universe that Caliborn was born in. They haven't solved anything and Calliope just ensured that English couldn't destroy the multiverse by destroying it herself.
"Goodness is goodness in the final hour, in the deepest pit. Without hope, without witness, without reward." God Tier Calliope gave her life, knowing that she would be destroyed forever, knowing that she was already in the only afterlife she would ever get. And yet, still, she did what she knew must be done.
The muse destroys their aspect through creation, and the lord creates their aspect through destruction. Calliope creates a black hole that destroys space around it, and lord english stabilizes the furthest ring by destroying dream bubbles. Idk, I just really love the whole paradoxy fun stuff of that it's so cool
@@kaiserband6412 Mm, perhaps. I know space and time are tied to creation and destruction, I just like the idea that muses and lords are too. But then, we only have one of each, so it's kind of hard to tell.

+Libertades Chronicles We all know it's gonna happen. Hussie's gonna be like "Yeah so the epilogue ended up being too long so I just decided to make a Homestuck 2.0, enjoy 7 more years of suffering."
I really wish that Hussie had managed Homestuck better. It got big, perhaps too big and he thought he could handle it becoming a multimedia franchise, which is why we got the game, the books, the VIZ merger, and while I liked them, the questionable quality in the Epilogues and ^2 (along with the awful homestuck2 team who drove everyone away). Just imagine if Hussie hadn't decided to do any of that. If he had just focused on finishing the comic, maybe release some merchandise, maybe wait until after the comic ended to launch the KS for Hiveswap and then focus on it completely instead of stretching himself thin and having that troubled development cycle.... could things have ended differently? Would the Fandom and the franchise be in a better state, instead of being a shadow of its former self? Perhaps we might never know... but to put it in Homestuck terms, it's sad that because of some choices, our beloved comic ended in a doomed timeline, dying with so much baggage and without any fanfare.
I think I finally understand how this works as the end. I think that after [S]: Game Over, and John's subsequent retconning, the timeline was split into 2 separate Alpha timelines in which neither had the Game Over. The first is Caliborn's home timeline. The genesis frog was created and earth was reestablished, and though it was repopulated, it didn't last long (because of all the shitty statues of liberty left in Caliborn: Enter). The kids went directly to confront Caliborn where the events of Caliborn's Masterpiece took place. The kids that were trapped in the juju then defeated LE but ultimately were terminated as well, so they could not go back to earth. As for the second timeline, the kids leave Paradox Space altogether. There is no influence of The Game on it, as the Royals' Rings were destroyed. The party then reaps the true Ultimate Reward by breaking free of Paradox Space. The major theme of this work must be seen through the lens of postmodernism. Homestuck is a truly postmodern work, rejecting literally EVERY narrative convention, from linear storytelling, traditional character arcs, and of course the 4th Wall breaks. And so the theme of this work speaks to the soul of any artist with a postmodern worldview: the desire to create something entirely New. Hussie frequently uses stock images and the same character models/frame shots. This is a very postmodernist method of creating art: using other works to create something unique but ultimately entirely derivative of other things. It's sort of like a collage. In today's age where everything is derivative of something else, Hussie has managed to create a completely unique story. It has references(this is what the refrance is) to many other works, but unlike almost any other story in Western literature, it cannot be reduced to a Shakespearen story, or a Biblical one. It bears a lot of resemblance to early Christian Gnosticism, but its basic plot is still too complex to be reduced to that. In short, Hussie has actually done what many consider impossible: he obtained the Ultimate Goal of a postmodernist. He created something New, even though nearly every aspect of it was derivative. Bravo, Mr. Hussie, bravo.
Homestuck had one of, if not the best ending of anything I had ever read or played. After finishing Homestuck for the first time, I was crying. It was a long journey, watching 4 kids play a game, and watching them die, then come back, better than before. Then 12 trolls came and they played the game. then 4 more kids. Characters grew and developed, defeated enemies, and, after 8100 pages and 7 years, the 32 characters that we loved all that time, now reduced to 28, finally did it. they finally beat the game that took 3 1/2 years of their lives and countless, repeated deaths, now going on to live in peace. Leaving their old lives behind, John and his friends enter the new universe, to live out their days in peace. 612/413. Time to read it yet again.
The kids and trolls won the game. A new universe has been made. The Mayor has founded his real, true Can Town. Aradia got to see what happens when the whole place breaks apart. Lord English and the Condesce are dead. Jack Noir is being redeemed by love. But it's not over yet...
Actually, Jack Noir never got redeemed, Hussie uploaded new snapchats in wich he attempts to kill Jane, an he is punished by The Felt (Now on Jane's side) by gougin his eyes.
LE was never killed in the flash, though. It ends the flash on a cliffhanger of what happened to him when that one thing was released on him, thus why many are expecting an epilogue.

Anyone remember when this comic started off as a few nerdy teenagers wanting to play a video game? Then earth’s fate was dragged in and all hell broke loose from there. To think that Lord English, Caliborn, Lil Cal, the Green Sun, everything. To think that all these factors of life and death, good and bad, creation and destruction, peace and conflict, all came from this one game and its connections to so many multiverses. It’s hard to imagine that this whole comic is simply not just about a game. It stopped being a game by the end of Act 1, but one could argue that SBURB’s game aesthetic lost its touch completely at Cascade, when the Green Sun was introduced. To think that the trolls never had to deal with LE. Only the Betas had to. LE is not a boss fight everyone has to deal with, nor is the condesce or Jack Noir. To think that the game isn’t won even after Act 7. Lord English and Caliborn are still out there. They defeated one version of LE, but that was simply a way to delay his return. He may or will always be back. Because no matter how many times you kill him, H E S A L R E A D Y H E R E.
He's stuck in 'here' he got lodged in infinite an *infinite time* loop in the meat timeline. He isn't even in the candy timeline because theres no candy timeloop so he stopped existing in the candy timeline.
Well Lord English lost anyways even if he didn't die, because his whole objective was killing everyone just for being a dick. LE/Caliborn is stuck in the timeloop that is Homestuck Acts 1 through 6, the kids and trolls escaped it through creating the new universe Caliborn will never enter, so he has essentially lost even if within the narrative he never dies and is always present in the story, because his story has no end, while the main characters have found a new story.
A cycle that never ends. This is not an end, not a beginning, not a middle. These are just flow of events that all connect. They have meaning to eachother but not to outside. It is a depressing, gloomy cycle with sparks of light occasionally shining.

this webcomic actually made me cry, and it's crazy for me to say that as i don't cry much over media (splatoon 3 was the only other one that did) i loved this webcomic so much, those 8000+ pages are fucking worth it. the end hit me so fucking hard!!!!
The pose of Calliope on the cover reminds me of the pose of Christ on the crucifix. Given that her arrival and actions resulted in what Andrew called "The Rapture", I would like to think this was intentional by the artist.
BoyBeyondTheStars You shall soon find that literally everything in Homestuck has deeper, hidden meanings. If you look closely, you can find parallels to just about every piece of influential literature in human history. This shit digs deep.
@@siliconmonday You can be atheistic, even have personal vendettas against religion (I know I do) but many religions are sources for the ideas in art and stories. Of course, the other side of things is that artists rarely intend to impart as much meaning as random people end up assigning to the art, so you could be right that this was never part of the artists intention.
@@blahthebiste7924 I mean most of the best stories tend to use bits of mythology and religion to spice up the story. Just take the Xeno series or the Percy Jackson series for examples between subtle and actively using religion and mythology to spruce up a story.
This was the perfect ending for Homestuck, everything was so intense and magical, but... HS^2 had to ruin it. It's a shame that it couldn't have just been left at this. I guess, in a way, Homestuck is the Dragon Ball of web comics, it'll never truly end but it'll never be as good as it originally was.
when i read the epilogues, i actually went into a depressive episode for days. I never understood why they couldn’t just let our heroes be happy. were the epilogues and homestuck^2 really stories that NEEDED to be told?
Anime Snowman Final battle was on 4/13, (start of comic) final album on 6/12 (start of hivebent), which is why I say that (GAME OVER, Cascade, etc etc). Maybe 11/11. idek
I want to say something. Just some nice and warm words towards a comic that changed my view of things. It just struck me, here at 12:21 am on June 24th, Monday, in 2019. It just hit me during this track when Savior of the Waking World began, and then launched into Explore. This comic’s soundtrack knows how to get you deep, like how A Taste For Adventure makes me feel determined, pumped, and invincible. Music is something that makes up 50% of Homestuck. It adds that true filling to the emptiness when there’s no words. But the thing that got me the most is we hear and fall in love with all these songs, and then they come back in epic remixes towards the end of the comic, just as a reminder to let you know that this is the true end and that the comic wants to cycle back to the most memorable moments earlier in the beginning to show a true lap, a true cycle, a true return to the beginning AS its end. That’s awesome. It’s so cool how these super memorable and iconic and repeating motifs continue to come back and show up once more. Gives off that euphoria feeling, making this comic seem so much bigger than it it. It’s my life now, and even though its over, I shall stay loyal to this thing to the very end. Dammit, Hussie. We love you. And we, or at least, *I* want to thank you for making this happen. If you want my full story and experience with this beautiful fandom, please head over to Eternity Served Cold, and search for my comment. But its late as I stated before, so I shall so that in the morning (from when I’m writing this). ~Signed, Noble Animations, the Heir of Time.
I have fin(n)ally searched enough of these clouded waters to dive up from the depths of the internet what the epilogue will contain. BE WARNED: SPOILERS AHEAD! 'You have also correctly divined that the last boss in Homestuck will be a seal with a grenade.' - Andrew Hussie, 11/02/2009. Since this has not occured yet there is no other possibility than for it to occur in the epilogue.
_"The hole leaves behind an absence in the sky so calm that continuing to call it a sky wouldn’t seem to do it justice. It’s a perfectly neutral expanse into which anything one can imagine might be summoned. And for a while, anything was. But not anymore. Where the hole gaped just moments ago, there now exists an imaginary line. Above this line resides all that matters. Below exists all else. Never again the twain shall meet."_ -Homestuck Epilogues, Meat Postscript. Here God Tier Calliope is describing the boundary between her black hole and the outside world, the line between candy and Meat. Given the direction of Homestuck^2's waning popularity I imagine that the meat timeline is going to faze out of canonicity and that 'imaginary line' will no longer exist. If that's the case you could interpret that imaginary line as the seal to God Tier Calliope's black hole, and by extension, all things Non-Canon. Maybe its gonna blow up and consume everything.
@@dandyspacedandy Nice thinking, although it's also definitely still a possibility that a giant animal seal throwing grenades will appear and end homestuck once and for all

Homestuck inspired me to write. I always wantedt write fiction butbwas always secon guessing myself, thinking ideas were lame or stupid.
I've had the last motif stuck in my head for a week, and every time it plays over in my head, I die a little more inside
Hear a soundtrack called Even in death, from (Roxy: Sleepwalk).
@@anubiscerberus4348 its also on [S] Void

I love when the motif from "Even in Death" sneaks in around 5:35
"Thanks For Playing"
A cycle that never ends. This is not an end, not a beginning, not a middle. These are just flow of events that all connect. They have meaning to eachother but not to outside. It is a depressing, gloomy cycle with sparks of light occasionally shining.
Homestuck.
Such is the way of Sburb, after all.

Starting with *The Note Desolation Plays* , followed by the *Raise of the Conductor's Baton* , and concluding with *The Rapture* upon the defeat of Lord English.
this webcomic actually made me cry, and it's crazy for me to say that as i don't cry much over media (splatoon 3 was the only other one that did)
i loved this webcomic so much, those 8000+ pages are fucking worth it. the end hit me so fucking hard!!!!
The pose of Calliope on the cover reminds me of the pose of Christ on the crucifix. Given that her arrival and actions resulted in what Andrew called "The Rapture", I would like to think this was intentional by the artist.

You shall soon find that literally everything in Homestuck has deeper, hidden meanings.
@@drakath5727 This is what I just said, no?
This was the perfect ending for Homestuck, everything was so intense and magical, but... HS^2 had to ruin it. It's a shame that it couldn't have just been left at this. I guess, in a way, Homestuck is the Dragon Ball of web comics, it'll never truly end but it'll never be as good as it originally was.
I came up the the term "official fanfiction" for dragon ball gt when I was a kid and have now happily put the epilogues/hs^2 in the same category.
@@theiris1002 i mean, yeah thats what it is considering they officially call it “dubiously canon”
I liked Homestuck^2, although it's sad that it's probably not gonna get ever finished
@@theiris1002 That's pretty much how Hussie described it at the time, right? So yeah
when i read the epilogues, i actually went into a depressive episode for days. I never understood why they couldn’t just let our heroes be happy. were the epilogues and homestuck^2 really stories that NEEDED to be told?

OMFG THE BEGINNING IS ENDLESS CLIMB
BUT IT WASN'T ENDLESS AT ALL
WAS IT
It’s not ending, because ending is running away.
there's a doctor motif on the very last song of homestuck.
how far has buzinkai's magnum opus come
I was here when this happened. This is webcomic history.
I swear I never seen a thing more perfect to the begining at the ending than Homestuck...
I haven't even finished Homestuck, yet hearing just the first few notes made me start crying so hard.
Wait the name of the ending leitmotif is from the song 'Even In Death' HOLY MOTHER OF BALLS
Also when the song faded out I actually teared up involuntarily, like I was doing something else just listening to the song
I saw your reply in a comment that noticed that ending leitmotif-
coincidence?
The entire base leitmotif is Even in Death.
Welp you were incorrect
@@Obliviongamer124 *_homestuck^2_*
@@gnostaoticanarchangautand oh crap I forgot about that being a possibility

My soul leaves my body every single time "Even in Death" kicks in. At 5:35, and then at the end where I straight up choked up.
The parts where Vriska used the treasure to re-capture LE (5:36 And 6:06) sound a fucking lot like a Skylanders motif, but I don’t know which one of the many games currently, and it’s been driving me mad for weeks now

Well this is a story of a bunch of teens playing a video game together in order to become God's while dealing with the biggest mankind in the multiverse and trying to raise a frog to become a literal universe.
If this concept can be turned into a epic tale with a ending making people cry, there's hope for me yet. Just gotta practice and have faith.
