Wonderful to see you are over Rona. I can see the added value your missing friend gives to these videos. Looking forward to the rest of the series and her photos.
Loved this video Andrew , wonderful views , your info so interesting , great music , so relaxing , you lead an amazing life , I'm so jealous , but hey just back from my caravan in Bonnie shores of Loch Ryan , no TV for 3 weeks , heaven , played lots of Robert Plant , Chris Rea, and Bob Dyan , love my music, hugs
What an amazing place. I think I would need travel sick pills to do that road. 2 years ago today though, I met you and Dougal in Edinburgh with your classic caravan Glynis, just before she went up for sale. It was really nice to meet you, and Dougal does smile.
Breath taking scenery and the van looked very capable and easy to handle. I used to drive around all over GB and I plotted my routes via places to get a cuppa - you do need to break up a long drive with a rest stop but its only completed by a brew. Great to see Dougal enjoying himself too.
Hi Andrew, beautiful scenery & great aerial shots! With panoramic views from the driver's seat too! Oooh! that welcome cup of tea after all the driving, have you ever enjoyed one that was so good you had to have another!😂. Going to enjoy your upcoming travels. Enjoy Andrew! Lots of Love to Dougal back home &to You. 💖💖💜💜XXXX
I see Dougal's not been missing you and is enjoying someone else's company!! (Naughty boy LOL ).Terrific aerial shots of the converging roads.I bet you see some great views from the driver's seat as there is a lot of windscreen on that Dethletts Trend.Looking forward to more amazing views.
Absolutely Barbara! At least I can relax knowing he is happy - and with the heat and the travelling he would have been way too stressed had he come with me. Yes, the windscreen means you can make the most of the mountain views!
Hari OM Oh yes that cuppa... mind you, lunch looked pretty good too! What achingly beautiful scenery, a picture postcard in every direction. Looking forward to this series. YAM xx
That's lovely scenery. The road loads good (unlike many of those in UK) p& it's a good alternative to the Woodhead pass over the Penines & almost as good as the thrill seeking Oblivion ride at Alton Towers! I'm sure you have some wonderful sights left for us to see. Plenty of life left in those old Dougal legs which is nice to see x Not a tea drinker but know what you mean
I stayed in Sportcamp Woferlgut in 1991 for a week, and enjoyed the lovely scenery, including the Grossglockner pass. I still have a little marmot (cuddly toy version) bought from the pass. Marmots can be seen living in the Grossglockner area. The following week we transferred to Lauterbrunen in Switzerland. I can't begin to describe the beauty of the alpine passes in those areas, including the Tre Croci pass in Italy. I long to visit again asap. Thank you for reminding me.
Andrew ...Definitely on my bucket list and I'm watching with great interest as your vehicle is very similar to ours including the 9 speed😁. Looking forward to your next episode Enjoy 🚐😎
Beautiful Austria!! I've only ever been in the summer never wintertime! Everywhere is so clean and fresh, the rivers are a lovely pale green which is usually snow that's melted on the mountains! Such a lovely treat you posting this mid week! Thank you for that!! Hintertux is a fantastic glacier to go and see, I think it's at the end of the Mayrhofen valley! I actually watched myself change colour as we were above the clouds and the sun was reflecting off the snow and ice!! I wonder if you visited that mountain?! Loved this vid, reminded me of past adventures a few years ago now! Been to Zell am See! Wish I was there! The hills are alive!! Waiting impatiently for the next vlog! Still a little croaky?! I have the fatigue now, my cough has gone thankfully. Take care, hugs xxx 🥰🐕😘🇦🇹
Glad to bring back some happy memories Anne :) I didn't get to Hintertux but we did see the glacier at the GrossGlockner (next video). Fortunately my cough is abating too xx
Drove the Grossglockner in my MX-5 back in 2006, sadly it was really foggy when we did it, so couldn’t see much, but a great road nonetheless. Amazing scenery there.
Andrew, we saw your presentation at th NEC in Oct but sadly missed the route you took down to Sportscamp Woferglut from the UK. I believe you may have taken a ferry from Harwich. Please could you share your whole route down to the Sports-camp? Many thanks Chris
Hi Chris, as I collected the moho from Dethleffs in Germany, I took the train there. This vlog picks up from Southern Germany. When I went to Düsseldorf with the caravan I did indeed travel from Harwich, and stayed at a lovely site about an hour from Hook of Holland called Groene Camping aan de Polder, between Dordrecht and Breda. Highly recommended if you like a quiet site. From there I just followed the motorway. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching, Andrew.
Griaß di im Allgäu! Wenn you drive back, try Hahntennjoch instead of the Fernpaß. I hope it is possible with a campervan. Or else come back with your motorbike. Fun guaranteed! Großklockner is also a national park with much to do with museums and so on. (Also big fun with a motorcycle). :P
Danke! I've already headed back but I will make a note of the Hahntennjoch for next time. And yes, I've already done some research as to where I can rent a bike in Salzburg for the next time I do the GrossGlockner :) Best wishes.
lovely drive and music is spot on as usual. my question is "do you have any confusion when now driving on the other side of the road?" driving in the u.k. scares me badly.
It's not as intimidating as you might think! The only time to be super-careful is when setting off on a quiet road, or when turning left or right at a T-junction. My mantra is 'look, then look again.' That second 'look' is reminder enough to drive on the right.
3 days ago, that would have been me getting off a Pendolino from the Sleeper platforms (not the usual platform 1/2) having spent 10 hours and 5 trains trying to get back from London... I was there in body, sadly not in spirit! ;)
Gotta tell you, me old mate, you keep saying that Dougal never smiles, but in that footage of him back in Uist playing with his pal, he looked like he was grinning from ear to ear. Ahem - #justsaying 😀
Definitely on my list of places to explore although probably will have to ride up it on a pushbike as well ( I know certifiable). Just be careful with dashcam footage in Austria, they are illegal there as far as I am aware
Hi Andrew. We drove some of these roads a few years ago and stayed in the same camp. We also missed the Glock due to snow. Could you please tell us the engine BHP on the trend you have as the standard has a 120bhp.. I messaged you about a 130bhp 2019 bressacar which I have driven and found it underpowered. Cannot believe you ave the 120.
I second Clive: I think these passes would be fantastic on a motorcycle! Do you still have yours, Andrew? I know that the traffic wouldn’t be so great, but I think taking those passes on a motorcycle would still be an unforgettable experience!
Sadly I sold it when I moved to Scotland Erin. However, after driving the GrossGlockner (next video) I looked at where I can rent a motorcycle so I can do it again on two wheels :)
THAT cup of tea! That cup of tea when you arrive on site after a day's drive. It's just SO life-affirming! :)
Thank u from NC USA for posting this video..
It's my pleasure Gene.
Wonderful scenery and a cup of tea at the end x
Hi Andrew your trip looks great and also as always lots of information and views looking forward to your next one
Glad you enjoyed it Bob!
You certainly get around don't you lol??? Looks absolutely stunning ... best wishes Paolo and Roger aka 'The Camp Caravaners'

Sounds blissful! Remember you don't see the hours slumped over a laptop or the 5am starts for the right light... ;@)

Tea is as essential to keep the driver operating just as oil is to keep the engine from seizing up ;)

Lovely footage Andrew, what a beautiful part of the world.
Nice to see Dougal having fun back home!
Enjoy your stay in that lovely motor home.
Thanks Annie!
What a scenic drive! 👍
It really is!
Thank you Andrew for this amazing journey. This route is on my bucket list for years, so I`m really looking forward to the next vlogs. Dirk
Thanks Dirk - I'm just working on the GrossGlockner vlog now and I think you'll like it ;)
Can’t wait to see Sophia! She’s a brilliant addition to your trips
Yes, she'll be popping up :)

@@andrewjditton Great thanks for coming back to me.
d'you know that Grossglockner road was construed in 1935 ?! I can still remember my dad drinving it many years ago...
You're in for a treat with the next video ;)

Did you just get a train at Glasgow central? Walked past you but wasn’t sure haha
3 days ago, that would have been me getting off a Pendolino from the Sleeper platforms (not the usual platform 1/2) having spent 10 hours and 5 trains trying to get back from London... I was there in body, sadly not in spirit! ;)
Needs more Dougal but I like the video.
I think we need to demand a Dougal and dad reunion video at the end. We have had them in the past and they were wonderful moments.
I'm working on it ;)
Gotta tell you, me old mate, you keep saying that Dougal never smiles, but in that footage of him back in Uist playing with his pal, he looked like he was grinning from ear to ear.
Ahem - #justsaying 😀
Indeed. I think he might need a little pal... ;)
I love roads like that. My poor son gets car sick, so we don't drive them more than we have to. Sigh.
Bad luck! At least you can enjoy them vicariously...
Definitely on my list of places to explore although probably will have to ride up it on a pushbike as well ( I know certifiable). Just be careful with dashcam footage in Austria, they are illegal there as far as I am aware
Just as well I didn't know that then!

Hi Kevin, this was the 160. I'll mention it in the full review, but I would certainly recommend the engine upgrade. Cheers!
Is there an a class van you could drive with a normal car licence?
Yes - this one! It's under 3.5t. Full review coming soon.
Loving the layout etc as I said in the last video. However, judging by the 2022 models I've found online, the price looks a little eye watering. 😳
Sadly with the way things are, the prices are only going to continue going in one direction...
I second Clive: I think these passes would be fantastic on a motorcycle! Do you still have yours, Andrew? I know that the traffic wouldn’t be so great, but I think taking those passes on a motorcycle would still be an unforgettable experience!
Rather go to Switzerland. There are a lot of passes very near to each other. You can easily make 5 to 7 passes in one day 👍🖖
Sadly I sold it when I moved to Scotland Erin. However, after driving the GrossGlockner (next video) I looked at where I can rent a motorcycle so I can do it again on two wheels :)
I love Switzerland too. But the GrossGlockner is the aim for the this trip and it didn't disappoint...
@@andrewjdittona motorcycle rental sounds like the ticket! 🏍
