The sounds and moves of these balers are the most enthralling of the whole agricultural machinery. From my childhood and until now, I have been under the spell...!
@@samueldougoud3289 As have I Samuel! I can still clearly remember watching my uncle bale his hay crop 50 years back as if it were yesterday and you definitely knew summer had arrived when the baler came out. I’ve got a few more haymaking videos captured on the same day to post over the coming weeks, hoping you’ll enjoy them Samuel, let me know if you do. Cheers, David.
@@donnellykieranj Thanks Kieran. Yes they’re really good tractors, used to be a few more round here when we had a local dealer but sadly they’re few and far between now so was nice to see this one. Your neighbour has good taste! Cheers, Dave.
Super video David, don't see many Same tractors although i have seen a couple lately, nice baler and great to see some hay weather finally, cheers Steve .👍
@@B1066agri Thanks Steve. Yes not a brand I see very often so was good to catch up with this one. Baler going well and it was great weather though it’s not so good now! Cheers, David.
Good evening David and that's what I call a nice relaxing video and also the closest I have ever been to a moving Same tractor. In all my years, apart from pictures, I have never came across one in the flesh, but have to say it was a very good looking little tractor, that has obviously been well cared for, as was the MF 224. You certainly mingle with some great farmers that know how to look after their kit which is something that love to see. Was I seeing correctly David that the flat 8 bale sledge had a Hydraulic Release Kit for the rear door mechanism? Never had that in my day, it was a long rope and pure arm power on the one we had lol. Thanks for the Sunday video and hope your weekend was good. Cheers, Fraser.
@@frasermathers2287 And a very good evening to you too Fraser and I’m pleased you enjoyed a gentle Cumbrian farming summertime haymaking video possibly following Countryfile on the telly! Yes not so many Sames about in the fields, very few round here but I’ve known of this one and it’s owner for a good few years and asked him to get in touch with me when he would be out in the fields and I’m so glad he did. It’s an absolute beauty, just like new and looking a picture along with the MF baler underneath those bright blue skies. Talking of the baler you’ve certainly got eagle eyes spotting that release mechanism as I didn’t notice until you mentioned it, first I’ve seen and yes a length of rope and some arm muscle is still very commonplace! Also it wasn’t the only MF 224 baler I seen working that day as unbelievably a stone-throw away in an adjacent field there was another identical (apart from the mechanical release!) 224 baler working that I also managed to film so more on that to come! Yes a nice weekend Fraser, back to work tomorrow but a new video to come on Thursday, I’ll look forward to hearing your comments on that one. Take care my friend, speak soon, cheers David.
David or others - how long would these fields be in grass? Would some be grass for 20+ years? I ask because it feels like the bales ride so smoothly on the mowed stubble.
@@vervaet17t Morning John. I would think this field would be permanent pasture (though don’t quote me on that) as I can’t ever remember it having been reseeded in the past but your right the bales are getting a smooth ride. Hope this helps.. Cheers, David.

Good to finally see some sun after such a terrible start to the year, we needed some hay weather!

Definitely Jacob and I made the most of that day and visited four farms! A tiring day but well worth it! Cheers, David.
It’s an absolute pleasure to watch your weekly video

Another super vid dave. A neighbour of mine is a big same fan. He has used them for years on his farm. He swears by them.
