- The world's first guitar performance of Ballade No. 1, Op. 23, (orig. in G minor), composed by Frédéric Chopin, arranged for guitar by Viktor Vidović
In 1836, a year after his first scherzo, Chopin published his first ballade. He dedicated it to one of his friends at the time, Baron Nathaniel Stockhausen, ambassador of the Kingdom of Hanover. Both the Baron and his wife took piano lessons from Chopin.
‘I have received from Chopin a Ballade’, Robert Schumann informed his friend Heinrich Dorn in the autumn of 1836. ‘It seems to me to be the work closest to his genius (though not the most brilliant). I told him [Schumann was writing the day after a meeting with Chopin] that of everything he has created thus far it appeals to my heart the most. After a lengthy silence, Chopin replied with emphasis: “I am glad, because I too like it the best, it is my dearest work”.’

For God sake, can everyone he shut up about the fact this piece was written for piano and how it ‘doesn’t sound natural on a guitar’ because this man has gone through the effort and dedicated time to translating it and writing an arrangement for guitar and he has done a lovely, very impressive job. Some people are so rude it’s ridiculous.
Well said Eddie. Some people are experts at judging other people's work, and they generally don't leave much else behind them but empty words and sterile opinions. I value the creative effort put by Viktor into this piece a million times more than the input of those people. Transcriptions like these push the boundaries of the guitar, and we need musicians to explore the possibilities of the instrument, not deter it. I will always encourage efforts that go in that direction. And, for what it's worth, I greatly enjoyed this transcription. Well done Mr. Vidović !
Eddie Hutchence It sounds beautiful in guitar too!! It’s a beautiful piece in general but sounds very nice this way too.
It's amazing on guitar...and it's one of my favorite piano works. Has a serenade quality.
Hugh Jardon I think it still sounds good, but I don’t have much guitar experience to be a good judge
I couldn't agree more!
As a pianist who's actually trying to learn the piece, by god is it hard. This man is seriously talented and God the arrangement fits the guitar so well
I am learning this piece as well. So in love with it. I often want to cry even practicing it. Every note is utterly beautiful. Chopin is my number one idol! Hands down.
@@aizawamegamill I really love Chopin, as well. Overall, I prefer his 4th ballade the most, then 1st and 3rd (tied), then 2nd.
@@Souls_p_ 4th ballad technically the most difficult one. I can’t even handle the 1st one.
Relatable, it's the most difficult piano piece I've tried to learn. The first G minor section is starting to sink in, where I'm getting trouble is at the waltz part onwards where it's fast.
As a novice at acoustic guitar however it's very cool seeing this video!
I am just finishing the 1st ballade and god- the coda is sooo slippy and hard to play
😍😍😍 bravo
Franz, vc por aqui????
Vc aqui Franz ?
Franz por essas bandas
Franz dps da primeira aula de violão no RUclips: como tocar a música mais bonita do mundo no violão?!
Franz . Vc é demais . Parabéns. Ainda vou ser que nem vc .
THIS PIECE ITS SO HARD EVEN FOR A PIANO AND U DID IT ON GUITAR? OMG AMAZING
But in guitar its can be more hard
Piano is harder
eLiAs Not at the same tempo, not even close but at this tempo guitar is harder
eLiAs piano is easy to learn and hard to master. Classical guitar is hard to learn, and fucking hard to master
Ace ••• he took 3.5 minutes longer to play it than it should be played
He translated a song written for a 88 keys instrument with 240 strings into "some" 6 strings guitar, I gotta say, as pianist, this guy is something else! GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!
Every string has around 20 frets which are like Keys, plus additional Natural/Artificial Harmonic sounds can be made on them meaning over 100 "Keys" can be played on guitar minimum and in different styles, muting, vibrato, pizzicato, and tremolo.
@@sebastianzielinski8251 but you can't hit more than one note on a fret at a time meaning that allows you to only harmonize six notes at a time
@@sebastianzielinski8251 muting on piano=letting go of key. pizzicato on piano=playing note and instantly letting go. tremolo on piano=playing one note very fast.
yes but man if ur a pianist you should know it's a piece, not a song :/
In music you *TRANSCRIBE* a song to another instrument.
wow this sounds great someone should make a piano arrangement for this
@ethanrosner5901 :skull:
Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, except possibly two.
Frederic Chopin
The Master LOVED guitar. He would have cried while hearing this.
Eternally without words. I would give my life for the sheet/score music
Agustin Glodon you're not gonna be able to play it then
Awesome Is fantastic , perfect composición
@@marcobalbin2091 i think he meant he would give his life after reading the score

Can people stop arguing about the fact that it's harder to play this on guitar or on piano? Both are hard asf to master, they're two completly different instruments that can't be compared.
Let's just enjoy this arrangement instead...
What ? Only 14k views ?!
You're genius.
its because people don't appreciate classical music art these days

WAW
This is absolutely phenomenal.
Everyone is metal until this guy steps in with Chopin on 6 strings.
Elite
very good performance and arrangement. after 10:03 the passage prepares us to the coda. listen 10:03 with 1x25 speed. it becomes the perfect arrangement.
That's right. Absolutely right.
But is very hard play the guitar or this song at this speed.
wow nice finding
What a great discovery. I've known this piece for 70 years and never imagined that such a detailed and accurate transcription was remotely possible. It sounds like it was actually written for the guitar, all of Chopin's is there. Of course, I had to listen to the performance a few more times to immerse myself in the full beauty. This version of the Ballade is a real keeper, it's a genuine jewel. Thank you for playing for us.
As a pianist I approve this transcription is flawless
Especially impressive is that you arranged even the coda part. Appreciate your efforts. Bravo
One of the most beautiful pieces of music, arranging it for and playing this on guitar is no small feat.
As someone with a background in classical guitar, I can only say that this is extremely impressive. The arrangement is gorgeous and Vidovic's tone is absolutely beautiful. There are quite a few technical flubs but that's not from any lack of skill (I mean, WOW) but rather the difficulty of the piece. Piano music is notoriously difficult to arrange for guitar but Vidovic does an outstanding job. I'll be sharing this with my friends. Bravo!
What would be an easy instrument to arrange?

This is so underrated. Such an amazing arrangement
Insane musicianship! Every pianist learning this piece can learn a great deal from your rendition. Almost all the spots where you naturally need to take the time to shift hand position, the spaces you make there perfectly highlight the dramatic moments of the piece, which is how the music should be played. However as pianists it is so easy to play jumps on a keyboard, we often overlook the drama behind those jumps and don't take enough time to highlight them! Moreover, the vibratos you place on certain melody notes really give me chills and help me see the beauty of them in the melody line, which is what we simply cannot do on a piano. Also, I think for audience new to classical music, this slowed-down yet melodically beautiful rendition helps audience to hear every note in the melody and understand the significance of every note!
This arrangement is an expression of love and veneration for Chopin's great work, the G-minor ballad, which we know as the first pinnacle of the mature Chopin's way of thinking music. I love this guitar rendition.
There are now some astonishing rendering of the crown jewels of classical music as arrangements for guitar solo - and for guitar duetto - showing how much this little instrument can do. Try them out, I love them all.
To play this on guitar is pure genius. And played so neatly. Fantastic.
Never imagine this Chopin arrangement on guitar but he imagine it or made it 🥰
I listened to this piece in its entirety after my mid day lunch. As I slumped in my chair and slipped into a food coma I was wafted adrift by the sound of a guitar giving full testimony to the circumstances of a case left unresolved beyond living memory.
I applaud you. I didn't think the ballade could be played on guitar.
I'm amazed, beautiful. I love this piece and i'm so grateful to be able to listen to it in a guitar
All my respect, I am guitarist too. This is very very difficult to play on guitar. This guy is simply fantastic. Big Bravo to him.
I was just listening to piano and violin covers. I might love this version the most.

Jesus how is this even possible?! I know how extremely difficult this piece is as piano player. This is insanely good!!!!
He was even brave enough to play the coda
Simply amazing, not only does it show a wonderful technique to play such a piece on a guitar but there is also true musicality that has been transcripted too
I cant believe how good the coda part was I was honestly expecting something slower but great job in my opinion one of the hardest sections of the piece
OMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH ITS THE FAMOUS hey guys its ya boy ksiolajideBT

No encuentro palabras para describir su talento, es la mejor interpretacion en guitarra que he visto, en hora buena maestro felicidades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this may be the greatest thing I have ever witnessed. A reason for the human race to continue. Being familiar with this piano piece and also the classical guitar, I cannot begin to imagine the amount of skill, artistry, and commitment this endeavor required. Simply bravo.
自分はピアノもギターも弾くが、この曲がギターで弾くとは想像もしてなかった。
素晴らしいことです😊
演奏者の熱情が伝わってきて👏👏🎉😊❤
Hey, I'm pretty sure no good pianists dislike this. We should be happy that musicians that play other instruments like piano music enough to arrange stuff like this.
It was awesome. My fingers started to melt just thinking about playing it. This also melted my heart in a very lovely way
素晴らしいパフォーマンス。技は力の中に有り(大山倍達)。
This doesn’t have enough credit! This deserves more views and likes. Beautiful rendition❤️
Amazing, what an amazing effort.

OMG YOU ARE LITERALLY SO TALENTED! THAT WAS THE MOST IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! YOU ARE SO GOOD AT GUITAR!
First i didn't like it because I compared it with the piano version. Now i love it. Really really great job. Thank you so much
Once in a while some performances will take your breathe away and this has gotta be one of those that triumphs all respective human achievements and collectively leaves you in awe.
Keep pushing the boundaries! This is out of this world. Definitely the first ever arrangement and performance of this masterpiece from Chopin on the guitar.
Never even thougth it was possible play this on an acoustic guitar! Totally amanzing!
すごいエネルギーのある曲ですよね。。。号泣です。。。

Amazing
Wow. You did an excellent job arranging that for guitar. You had to really stretch your fingers out quite a bit on that performance. Nice job.
This is an excellent performance. Of course it sounds more natural on a piano but this is an incredible arrangement and execution. God forbid someone use exceptional talent to produce something novel for you to judge. Bottom line, this is totally novel and brilliant. If you don't like how it sounds then you can always listen the the Zimmerman version. Kudos to the artist, you are truly excellent.
Well said
How the f did you play one of the hardest piano pieces with so sheer perfection on the Guitar? Are you God
Good music always helps after being rejected by a friend you truely like.
WOW 🙊 😲😱🥺🙉 I couldn't believe It would be possible to be played on guitar at this level. Amazing! Wonderful! Without words 🙊

This is the best arrangament of this piece, and I really love if this piece had a sheet

This is one of the most amazing things I've seen on guitar. Wow
I've thought of transcribing this but it's a monumental task. Glad a new generation is breaking new ground.
This video deserves a +100 million seen. I don't like some parts of it on guitar but I think you are the only one who has managed to make an arrangement on guitar because I couldn't find any others. Bravo. Thank you so much for this work
This is fabulous !! I have always known that he would succeed and he did it ! Always the best !
Fantastic.
Wow beautiful!!!! Such a great homage to the technical intricacies of the piano original!! This is one of my favorite pieces to play on piano, and I loved listening to how you interpreted and overcame the challenges of that manuscript!
Nice arranged cover performance on guitar. Amazing. Bravo👍
Sem palavras, nunca imaginei q era possível tocar essa peça no violão 👏👏👏

I like the way how this guy has made an effort to make himself appear as if he is sitting in a real luxury house. Brother you don't need to be rich to play with such an awesomeness. We would even like the video with actual surroundings because we are here for the guitar. Superb performance.

Brilliant!! So interesting to hear one of the most complex Chopin works on guitar. Thank you.
5:16 is the best part
was literally looking for a violin-piano duet version bc why not (ifykyk 😿) anyway, i’m so glad i clicked on this video to hear how beautiful the piece was translated into the guitar. as a pianist, playing a piece that required theoretical 11 fingers at some point in it, a piece that was written for 88 keys and ten individual fingers, onto a fcn guitar is utterly insane. like next level musicianship. that’s honestly impressive in itself, playing a pretty crazy piece on a 6 stringed guitar, which (im guessing bc i don’t play string instruments besides piano) required a lot of finger dexterity and flexibility. i applaud ur amazing performance 👏👏
My God this is phenomenal
This is amazing. I can't imagine how much work goes into this.
OH MY GOD THE SKILL
Beautiful
A true master. Bravo, this is the reason the guitar is the king of all instruments.
❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely amazing. I never thought It could be possible this arrangement and interpretation for guitar. Congratulations bravo 👏😏👏😉👏😁👏🤩
