    I feel so fortunate that Arcade controllers are still a thing in this day and age. Always felt weird to play Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Soul Calibur with anything but the Arcade setup.
    The fact we get LED buttons is just gravy.

    Hi Drew from 2021. I just built the same fight stick with blue LEDs. Only difference is I use the encoder’s power supply for the LEDs. Your video was indispensable to its successful wiring because the stick/button kit came with no manual. I’m replacing the kit stick with a Sanwa stick next week. Cheers.

    Can I ask... Why did you feel you had to power the LEDs separately? Is the 5v line from the board not enough to do this? Is the USB power supplied by Raspberry Pi not enough to power the LEDs in the switches?

  • @raoulraoul7129

    Why you don t connect led wires to the board 5v socket ?Or your board doesnt have?

    Great video. Bonus points if this guide included integrating a raspberry pi 3 into the arcade stick including on/off switch :)
    On second thought integrating the pi may not be worthwhile. just velcro it on the back side so it's easy to swap cards but just as hidden as if it were inside the enclosure.

  • @warrencolvett6341
    @warrencolvett6341 Год назад

    I know this is an old video... But no. You dont "push to much juice, use too many watts" when it comes to power supplies. LEDs reguire a certain voltage, amps is the maximum current draw the power brick can support. So as long as the brick is big enough (amp wise) to support bulbs and is the right voltage you are fine. You don't "push" watts or amps, it refers to the capability of the power supply.

    Awesome build bro!!! Can you wire it so that the LED’s light up through the USB??? Not an additional USB but one USB that once plugged in will power the arcade stick and the LED lights!!!

      @@brannenthompson9662 no need for a power cable if setup properly. The USB encoder boards can be setup to pull power directly from the device. All of my USB sticks with LEDS I have setup only have 1 cable and it is the usb. Perhaps this is a really old encoder board.

    Ok just to be sure, if you have a PC with MAME, you don't need to have a raspberry pi board, just the black cases, the buttons, LEDs and the wires you hooked and VOILA, case closed right?

      @@drewtalks Alright thanks. It would be nice that the LEDs draw their power from the USB. We would have 1 less wire. Also do you know if they have another version with a trackball or/and a spinner? They would really challenge X-Arcade and their tankstick.

    • @gokumetrix80

      Did you connect the light wires directly to your usb decoder? If not it could be that one of the black cables are touching a red one through the metalic head causing the lights to go off and on again.

    Hey Drew! Really love your videos. So, I have the exact same arcade buttons kit but for two players. Should I power each player buttons to one power supply? Also, do you know if I can set Select as a Hotkey button at the same time? Because I have 6-buttons layout plus 4 buttons for Player 1-2 Start and Coin, plus 2 pinball buttons.

    • @drewtalks
