The Cali Texas alliance seems non sensical but if both states seceded for different reasons, and were both attacked by Washington as a result, they would likely put their differences aside; at least for a time.

@@motorcycleboy9000 Not necessarily. Texas and California will only comprise a force of about 70,000,000 people. And thats assuming that EVERYONE wants to fight. EVERYONE. But you and I both know that most people would want nothing to do with this, and so that would wittle the citizen combat forces down to about 2 million or less. And that's just being generous.
There are over 300,000,000 in America, and ONLY about 1,180,000 U.S. citizens are enlisted in the armed forces. So if 300,000,000 citizens only generates 1,000,000 soldiers (0.3%) for an entire nation, then 70,000,000 citizens for just 2 states will generate about 210,000 fighters.
Therefore only about 210,000 people will fight for California and Texas...
      ...that's not enough.

Your two faces throughout sums up perfectly the polarity inside of so many of us. On the left hand side of the screen: eyes wide, crazy grin, the face of someone thinking 'yup, here it comes, we all saw it knew it and kept on making it happen, it's really wild, it's really scary, it's really world ending....but at least it's fucking REAL'. On the right hand side of the screen: eyes widen, body shrinks back in horror. The 'real' we've all been seeking, the only 'real' we've allowed ourselves to get to, is this REALity. And it's terrifying. One can only hope A24 has, in the film, and through the filmmaking, made clear to audiences that this is a cautionary tale, and not the roadmap or tutorial some may take away upon viewing. This is legitimately dangerous art. And I'm here for it.

ALSO: The Texas Cali thing makes sense....if youre not seeing the world through only online political news and views...
California, Texas, and the states in between, do have a fair amount of people...but more than people, they have LAND.
In a ground war, the land its self is key....the populations on top of it come and go.
That land is privately owned, as well as a fair amount of federal holdings. Privately owned land is usually held by conservatives.
So....while LA and San Fran, and Austin - and to a lesser extent the labor class of Silicon Valley - are 'loud proud lefties', the MASSES of ACREAGE surrounding those cities is still full 'red state' realness. Do not get it twisted.
LA and San Fran would likely have to wall themselves off, while the enormity of Californias rural areas would be held down by wealthy private militaries and whatever cartel forces remain from marijuana grow operations in northern Cali and the North West.
If you look at electoral maps of the nation by county, you'll see exactly why California - as a state, not a philosophy - connects seamlessly with Texas Nevada Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and the Dakotas:
The "Blue Team" are densely populated urban Islands... on a vast, thinly populated "Red Sea". If the war goes offline and on the ground, It makes sense for most of the west to coalesce around the access and resources provided by the Sacremento and San Joaquin Valleys, the Colorado River, and the millions of acres of existing ranchland.
The existing owners/operators of land and industries in those areas, to say nothing of the existing folks living between those areas - far flung desert dwellers and mountaineers - are not San-Fran Soy Latte Folks to begin with. The first thing in war is to protect ones own - land resources family - and as much of the west is already owned by corporations or the mega wealthy, it makes sense - perfect sense - that those barons of cattle, timber, oil, and tech would circle their wagons, load up their existing ARMORIES, double their "security forces' and start putting up fences.
The next war is the war between town and country.
And 'country' has the land advantage.

Everybody says a civil war would be worse than WWIII. I've been told that by many former military and current. But as a Texan, who'd definitely vote in favor of separation, see a civil war as the only means as to separate from this Union, without complete US military focus on us individually. If the opportunity presents itself, don't be surprised if Texas decides to dip. I don't know if the rest of the country is aware, but we as Texans could easily do without the rest of you. Hell we'll probably take Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma while we're at it. That's the actual Texas alliance in a civil war.

Alex Garland can do no wrong in my mind.
And A24 is a movie studio that puts out nothing but some of the best movies of the last decade. Seriously. Check out some of these titles:
Room (not The Room), Green Room, Enemy, Under the Skin, Locke, Ex Machina, The Lobster, Swiss Army Man, Good Time, It Comes at Night, Hereditary, Midsommar, The Lighthouse and Uncut Gems. And I haven’t even mentioned the two Best Picture Oscar-winning films yet (Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All at Once)

Ok granted some of you may see it as far fetched but look it at like this “If you were an analyst from a foreign country looking at events within the U.S the same way as you look at events in Ukraine, Israel, Venezuela or Haiti you would honestly go down a checklist assessing each of the conditions that make a ‘Civil War’ likely and what you would find is that the United States (A democracy founded more then two centuries ago) has entered such very dangerous territory” 🤓

Don't confuse the state governments with the people of those states.
Think whatever you want. Just do it critically and with genuine intellectual honesty.
The 5 Steps to Critical Thinking:
    What is critical thinking?
In general, critical thinking refers to actively questioning statements rather than blindly accepting them.
Critical thinking results in radical free will.
    1. The critical thinker is flexible yet maintains an attitude of healthy skepticism.
Critical thinkers are open to new information, ideas, and claims. They genuinely consider alternative explanations and possibilities. However, this open-mindedness is tempered by a healthy sense of skepticism (Hyman, 2007).
The critical thinker consistently asks, “What evidence supports this claim?”
    2. The critical thinker scrutinizes the evidence before drawing conclusions.
Critical thinkers strive to weigh all the available evidence before arriving at conclusions. In evaluating evidence, critical thinkers distinguish between empirical evidence versus opinions based on feelings or personal experience.
    3. The critical thinker can assume other perspectives.
Critical thinkers are not imprisoned by their own points of view. Nor are they limited in their capacity to imagine life experiences and perspectives that are fundamentally different from their own. Rather, the critical thinker strives to understand and evaluate issues from many different angles.
    4. The critical thinker is aware of biases and assumptions.
In evaluating evidence and ideas, critical thinkers strive to identify the biases and assumptions that are inherent in any argument (Riggio & Halpern, 2006). Critical thinkers also try to identify and minimize the influence of their own biases.
    5. The critical thinker engages in reflective thinking.
Critical thinkers avoid knee-jerk responses. Instead, critical thinkers are reflective. Most complex issues are unlikely to have a simple solution. Therefore, critical thinkers resist the temptation to sidestep complexity by boiling an issue down to an either/or, yes/no kind of proposition. Instead, the critical thinker expects and accepts complexity (Halpern, 2007).
Critical thinking is not a single skill, but rather a set of attitudes and thinking skills. As is true with any set of skills, you can get better at these skills with practice.
In a nut shell, critical thinking is the active process of minimizing preconceptions and biases while evaluating evidence, determining the conclusions that can reasonably be drawn from evidence, and considering alternative explanations for research findings or other phenomena.
    CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS
    >Why might other people want to discourage you from critical thinking?
    >In what situations is it probably most difficult or challenging for you to exercise critical thinking skills? Why?
    > What can you do or say to encourage others to use critical thinking in evaluating questionable claims or assertions?
