There's an episode where Leonard and Sheldon are playing GTA and Sheldon stops at a red light. Leonard tells him he doesn't have to in that game and Sheldon says he doesn't *have* to, but he *wants* to stop. That's the fun of video games. 😂

I feel that highly intelligent people are often bad drivers. They think too much about all the bad things that could happen and do not focus on the driving itself.
Well you would be wrong!

It depends entirely on what kind of anxieties and other social issues they might have. The thing with highly intelligent people is that they're statistically more likely to have some sort of social, emotional and/or mental disorder that hinders some other aspect of life other than the intelligence related ones, but at that point it's not the intelligence that hinders them, it's stuff like anxiety and paranoia caused by their various issues.
As someone who recently got a Master's degree in English I can say that my biggest weakness as a driver is impatience. I get very annoyed when I get stuck by a driver going ten miles under the speed limit and on average I drive about 5-7 miles over the speed limit in light traffic. However though it has been a couple years since I started driving I still have issues with anxiety and not knowing when to take a risk and make a left hand or right hand turn when pulling out of a driveway on a busy street. There are times where I will be waiting at the street for a couple minutes before there is enough of a break in the traffic for me to make my turn. What doesn't help is the a-hole driver waiting behind me honking his horn because I am waiting too long.

Crazy thing was in S10 Sheldon tells Amy he’s had his license for 2 years so some point during s8 he got it and told nobody so they could continue to drive him.
I mean, considering his distaste for driving, it makes sense he'd still prefer others drive him (which is honestly for the best with his tendency to overthink,) but it makes sense he would have gotten on as a precautionary thing since he has been forced to drive in dire situations.

You know, he's right about the seat belt thing. Up here if you go to a driver's test and start the car before putting on your seatbelt they fail you on the spot.

Years ago, I visited my brother, and my niece and nephews tried to teach me how to play Mario Go Kart. I drove as badly as Sheldon did in this episode. Though I didn't kill any puppies. After half an hour of trying to teach me, my then 8 year old nephew asked me in all earnestness. How I learned to drive a car in real life. My tratiorious brother laughed and said I didn't for years. Since I kept driving so badly, no one would train me. (OK, that was true, but my brother didn't have to rat me out to his kids!)
So how did u finally learn?
@FalconFlyer75 my grandparents paid for professional lessons from a driving school. Really I was in college then and there was an excellent bus system. They just thought I should get my license before my 8 year younger brother got his.

Ok for me I'll have to go with Sheldon when it comes to interstate issues. If I ever attempted a simulation of trying to get on the interstate there would be lots of crashes so sadly I would quit too and plus lots of car accidents anyways from tv news. Stuff isnt tested, would definitely need Steve McGarrett using car Legos from 5-O

Honestly vehicles in video games do tend to move faster even if you just moving the steering wheel or hitting the petals just a little.

Preface: obviously its a work of comedy fiction
They established in another episode that they DO play Grand Theft Auto and competitive Halo, games which do require driving. It makes me curious IF this were real how well he is able to handle those vehicles or if he always makes someone else drive in those as well because he isn't good at it even using a controller. It would have been a good little character detail to add in that he needs teammates in those games to do the driving for him.
Can you imagine if Sheldon actually took a drivers test? I doubt the instructor would've made it a minute with him behind the wheel before having a heart attack
