A quick shout out to Mr Matt. You are a treat for us. How much more comfortable you have become in front of the camera. 😊 ❤
I agree..he’s hilarious!
I do love watching Matt interact with Tipper !! He is so funny. He is hilarious 😅😅. I'm like him ...I love fried green tomatoes....they are so good. Our mountains were COVERED with smoke from Canada. As usual....i love these visits with you. 😊😊
I love the whipowill and the katydids and jar flies. And I've got several owls...screech and hoot....
❤❤❤❤❤
I really enjoyed this video so much! Your chats and laughter great are lots of fun for your viewers. I really hope you get lots of delicious tomatoes from your garden. I have four tomato plants this year! Imagine that! They will give me plenty good tomatoes, I’m hoping! My children don’t like them very much, which is surprising, and our grandsons dong care much for them, either. And I can hardly wait for them to get ripe!
Your Sunday evening videos are always a treat to watch and a great way to end my weekend. Thank you for your hard work on your channel, you are a blessing to many people.
Thank you for sharing your garden with us, Y'all sure work hard but I know it's so worth it, Mama and daddy always had a big garden and mama canned every thing she could,
Your video’s are so interesting and funny. My memory is not so well as it use to be but something always comes up when I plant it. The best part is when you guy’s sit down to eat that popsicle. Thanks for sharing and pray the garden continues success this year. ❤
I hope the smoke from the wildfires in Canada isn’t making it hard for miss Cindy to breathe. Good meeting you in person yesterday and hope y’all liked y’all’s gifts. #cancer_free #team_miss_cindy #healthy_as_a_horse
We loved them 😀 thank you so much!! We loved meeting you 😀
I can’t believe how big these plants have gotten! I remember when you were sorting seeds in your dining room with Corey! Prayers for Miss Cindy and your family!😊🇨🇦🙏
The grow so fast! Thank you Gary 😊
Y’all are such a treat to be able to watch. Really enjoy your channel. Thank Y’all for all y’all teach us and entertainment. Awesome Family. Prayers for Matt’s Mom and Prayers to the Family 🙏🌹
Thank you!
You two are just precious!! I can’t wait for the video where Matt is giving you a sobriety test in the back yard - oh, I was really laughing - he is a riot!!! That sunburn brought out the orneriness in him, and I can tell there’s a lot!! Yeah Tipper, be real nice to poor Matt when you turn off the camera - oh Word! And Katie…I can just picture her saying that. This was my favorite video by far! Sending love and blessings to you all, especially to Miss Cindy. ❤
P.S. I think you can find those zip-off pants at Brass Pro Shop - I think that’s where I ordered my husband’s. They are nice - quick dry.
Thank you 😊
@@MemoryLord-uv9cf - I know, having someone that makes you laugh is a treasure…and Matt and Tipper definitely have that. They are good people! ❤
In Ohio, we've had a heavy haze for nearly a week from the fires and have not had rain since May 13th. Today, the skies cleared in the morning as the haze was dispelled by soft breezes and late in the afternoon, it finally rained. My yard, maters and flowers have quite pleased!
I'm so glad you got some rain!!
Same here in Lansing Michigan, air quality bad from Canada wild fire and no rain for 22 days, BUT today although cool,we got our fresh air back and some rain.
I have 25 heirloom tomatoes in the kitchen garden. Main garden has. 25 Bush tomatoes for canning. My two Cherokee Purple (named Tipper & Matt) are doing great! Never grew them before. My Sungold, Juliet, and Amish paste are healthy. I have always grown Brandywine (pink, red, dark, & yellow) will challenge Matt growing beside them to see if he can make a believer outta me this season!
Blessings 🌼
Thank you Allison! I hope they all do great 😊
Thank you once again for your videos, when I'm feeling at my saddest y'all always seem to brighten up my day! Sending Love and prayers to you and your family
So glad you enjoy them and I hope you have a brighter day tomorrow 😊
God bless Julia with peace and comfort with love care and protection with healing and health when needed in Jesus name, may the good Lord bring joy and happiness to you in Jesus name
Because of you, Tipper my tomatoes are doing the best they have ever done. I followed your advice and put Epsom salts in the hole and then I mulched everything. Thank you for providing such practical advice.
Wonderful!
i love to see yawll cut up, laughing, smiling and joking around will help you live longer. love yawll, GOD bless.
Beautiful! I just love to walk by a garden and smell tomatoes that are growing. Any fancy French perfume can't ever compare. 😊❤❤🙏
I love it too 😊
I LOVED MY PARACHUTE PANTS! I had a black pair. I wore them with my white high-tops, unlaced, of course. I wore my collars flipped up and a bandana tied around it. Such fashion in the 80s! Great memories!
I just want you to know that I got my cookbook Saturday and I love the recipes and all the other articles that are in there I'm really going to enjoy using some of the recipes especially the cornbread salad thank you again for a wonderful cookbook
Wonderful! Thank you Shirley 😊
Sobriety Test on Seed-Plantin' Day. Ha! That made my dogs wonder if I was okay, I was laughing out loud. Delightful! Thanks, kids.
😀
Funny thing about a whippoorwill, a couple years back we had a really loud close one or so we thought that's what it was. I kept listening and finally asked my husband where do they get it's saying whippoorwill when clearly it is not. I finally had to look it up because it just didn't make sense to me. That's when I discovered it was a Chuck-Will's-Widow. I'm 50 years old and never knew there were 2 different ones. Do y'all have both as well? We're from SC. Love Murphy, been to Fields of the Wood many times and love the flea market. Enjoy your videos and pray for your family.
Thank you! I've never heard one here but they may be some 😊
My husband was talking about the Chuck Wills Widow the other day. He said they were a little bit bigger bird and made the distinct sound "chuck wills widow", and everyone called them Whippoorwills, and he couldnt understand why they did since they made that unique sound just like the Whippoorwills call out their own name. We havent heard either bird here in our part of Kentucky for quite a few years now.
We enjoy them here in Texas. We have both on our place.
My Tomatoes have done so well, that I’m having give away a lot to the neighbors 💁🏻♀️
Do you remember in steel magnolias, when shirley McClain had her overalls on and a straw hat and brought bags of tomatoes to everyone at the beauty salon? Lol she plunked em down next to them… she said thst why old women grow tomatoes, to give them away… or something like that. Lol
I love sharing vegetables.
That is wonderful 😊
@@CelebratingAppalachia send me some, air mail!
congradulations on a big harvest, Im down in TX and it has been better then expected with tomatos and pepers- Always give some away but this year I have given many more then normal away., its nice to share.
I always love the whipper wills and the bob whites my mom loved the jar flies
Matt is hilarious!!
😊
When Matt said the chickens were flying up it reminded me of my Daddy. He always went to bed early because he had to go to work so early in the mornings. We would all be sitting around talking not thinking about going to bed & Daddy would say “well, you fellers can sit up all night if you want to, but I’m “fixing to fly up.” My grandkids wouldn’t have a clue what that meant this day & time. I love listening to you all talk. It’s like I’ve had a visit back home.
Again y’all made me laugh out loud several times. Matt fighting off the 🐝 wasp bees 🐝 was so funny cause it’s so strange how they only attack him. So cute what little Katie said as a child. Love y’all. ❤
I LOVE fried green tomatoes! I totally understand why Matt loves them. Good luck with your garden, it looks so wonderful, and all those tomatoes. You and Matt are so cute together, and the look he gave you about the "not Cherokee Purples". Priceless! It's so much fun watching you two just sitting and talking, and laughing together.
I love whip-poor-wills! We slept with open windows at my grandmother’s when I was a kid. We fell asleep to their song. Forever they will be dear to me. ❤ this is why I’m addicted to your channel. It brings my sweet childhood memories to me. Thank you. ❤
I enjoyed this so much! The squirrel story made me laugh, thank you for sharing your popsicle time with us. Thinking of Miss Cindy and your entire family.🙏
Lol Matt cracks me up 😂
I'm from Canada (Quebec)and we have forest fires going in just about every province! Never seen anything like it! People are saying (jokingly) Canada is on fire. Kinda scary. Praying for a lot of rain.
I hope you get some rain!
I had to laugh out loud at Matt saying you were drunk when you planted your seeds 😆. Thanks for all Tomato advice..
I love the way tomatoes smell! That's something that you don't think about until you don't have a garden. I remember the way the tomatoes and corn smelled in my Granddaddy's garden when I was a kid. Beautiful memories! Thanks so much for the great video, Love from Memphis!
I buy a big roll of dog wire, welded wire. Cut lengths 6 feet long, twist the cut ends together, and cut two holes out across from one another, one low one higher up. Just really large tomato cages. When plants get about a foot tall, just place over the plant, and I drive a metal stake to the side to keep it from blowing over. They last for years.
Great tip!
I can't believe you already have tomatoes. Good for you!
"Just not fit to eat". Matt ,so true!
You all are such a great couple. I laugh at the things you talk about such as parachute pants. I’m sorry but I can’t envision Matt in them, Tipper I can. I’m growing a bit of several tomatoes. I love Cherokee Purple I also have Beef Steak and others. This year I’m focusing on paste tomatoes for sauces and such. Have a blessed week.❤️
I laughed and laughed hearing you talk about Katie saying, “I taut the Lord told you to be good to me!”. That made my day.😂
😀
I love watching you 2 interact, working side by side, and you show your love and respect for each other. WOW, the bees like Mat. We had the smoke all week long. I'm on oxygen due to idiopathic fibrosis if my lungs and I sure could tell the pollution of it. I used twice as much portable oxygen than normal
Godbus good. He supplies all we need. We are getting life giving rain this afternoon. We are about 3" low just for the month of May. We are definitely being blessed. The farm crops and gardens are soaking it up. We have had a very cool spring also for Indiana. We had 40 degree Temps a week ago and a couple of days this week. It has only gotten up to 70 today. I continue to hold Miss Cindy and your family in prayer. God bless you and yours❤️🙏🙏❤️
Thank you Ruth! So glad you are getting that rain 😊
Prayers the smoke passes and your breathing is easy.
"Back door cold front", now that's a keeper ! ❤️
😊
Fascinating watching you pruning your tomato plants in the garden, and also your knowledge of the plants, suckers, etc., I didn’t know about any of that. We learn something new every day!! It must be so rewarding to actually grow your own food, and no pesticides used, it is organic. My Father loved botany, and I’ve inherited his love of plants, and fascination with them, but you and your husband are experts, I didn’t know about the things you have talked about and shown in this video. Fascinating!! 🍅😊
Your garden is so lush and beautiful 🥰
I'm with Matt, you can't beat a Cherokee Purple tomato sandwich. When God makes a tomato sandwich, that's what he uses too. 😉
The end of this video when you’re imitating Katie when she was little is soooo cute!! I can just see her talking to you like that. So cute!!
😀
I bought a bag of those plastic tomato clips. Today a youth group from a local church came to help me get my yard and gardens in order. They staked all the tomato plants using all the clips and some left over rope from my clothesline plus some tomato cages. They look so nice now.
That is wonderful 😃
I said goodby to my dear mother in law in Feb. We were so thankful for hospice. My heart goes out to you and your family. It is so hard. Praying for strength for you all and praying for Miss Cindy. 💖
Bless you Wanda!
Watching Mom's mannerisms - tell me that Corie and Katie don't move just like her - :) My Mom grew tomatoes, cucumbers, mint, and sometimes peppers. She was a natural at gardens and flower growing. She would support her tomatoes with sticks that were part of the bottom of a window shade. (i.e. the stick slid into an opening at the bottom of the widow shade to give support there. She also used long dowel rods. I wish I had paid more attention to her lessons. My daughter says I could kill and artificial plant.
🤣😆
I know your mom's garden was amazing!
That squirrels a might teched. Bless his heart. Thats what my friend Lib would say. Shes gone now and I miss her southern humor. Now I have you two to make me smile.
The smoke is here in Muncie Indiana also you all make a real sweet couple setting around relaxing eating your popsicle love to watch you all the purple tomatoes are really good
I RECEIVED MY COOKBOOK SATURDAY AND OH HOW I LOVE IT! ITS A TREASURE😊 THANK YOU& MR JIM FOR TAKING THE TIME TO PUT IT TOGETHER! I KNOW IT WAS HARD WORK BUT SOO MANY OF US FOLKS ARE ENJOYING IT!
HAVE A SAFE BLESSED WEEK!
Yay! Thank you 😊
I like the Celebrity tomatoes, nice and round tomato. I usually stake my tomatoes with cages but, this year I am using a cattle panel and cages.
Your tomatoes look wonderful! We never cut the suckers off either. We did always tie them up on stakes or baskets. I can see sitting in a chair and getting tired and sleepy after working all day then working in the garden. Its a wonderful feeling to me.
Thanks so much for sharing. Prayers for Miss Cindy!
Love this video! Makes me think of my dad who passed away in February. He loved growing tomatoes and only planted Better Boys. Staking and tying those huge plants was always all hands on deck!😂
My local farmer’s market has the Cherokee Purples. I just used them in tomato pie a couple of weeks ago and it was so good.
Can’t wait to see your harvest!
I’m sorry you lost him!! Thank you for watching 😀
Thought of Granny today....I went to the mulch pile in my yard and have a whole row of potatoes from skins thrown out. My peppers are scawny too but I have some peppers.
Love that 😀
Nothing like eating a tomato off the vine warm from the sun 😋 I agree with Matt a sloppy good sandwich is the BEST!!
I have one tomato plant - since it's just me - that's plenty. All this talk about tomatoes reminded me of a prank we pulled on my grandfather, One summer, he had dozens of tomato plants just loaded with green tomatoes, He loved fried green tomatoes but would not have them until he had at least one red one. He moaned about that for days - too impatient for nature to take its course, My mom and I went to the grocery store, bought a basket of tomatoes and stuck them on the plants one night after Pap went to bed,. The next morning Pap checked his garden and couldn't believe the tomatoes ripened that much overnight! We had such a good laugh about it.
😀
Loved this episode on your tomatoes. If you want more volunteers next year, then take a tomato at the end of the season when your cleaning up the garden and just poke it down into the soil. It will come up as a mass of seedlings in the spring and then you can separate it out into individual plants. Also when one of your of Cherokee Purple gets a sucker, root it and you’ll be able to give Matt more of his favorites. Good to hear you like the Juliette. I have some this year and they are doing great. Unfortunately, I have longer to wait for the results as our growing season here is NH is behind you. I agree with Matt about the messy tomato sandwiches! In the height of the season I have one every day for breakfast. Some nice white bread, mayonnaise and onion salt…HEAVENLY.😇 you guys were so funny today..thanks for making me laugh and realizing that even though we are miles apart, we have so much in common. Sending love and light to you and especially Miss Cindy.
Matt's comments are hilarious today, lol..."crackhead squirrel" "I saw the squirrel wearing an eye patch", gonna put Tipper through a breathalizer, etc...HAHAHAHA....
My tomatoes are doing good because I water them regularly. We have not had rain for Almist 3 weeks here in New Jersey. I always trim off bottom leaves and suckers. I have one that I am rooting. I am using cages as I only have 15 plants. I only have a 1/2 acre lot but still growing peas, onions, potatoes, Swiss chard, yellow squash, zucchini, )6kinds of peppers, cucumbers as I make bread and butter pickles that everyone wants, stringless bush beans., cabbages under netting to keep of the moths. I use the same clips that you use especially on my cukes. Enjoyed your video. You have me eating popsicles too!!!
Sounds like a great garden Robert! Thank you 😊
NJ is called the Garden State for a very good reason! The best produce, especially the tomatoes, anywhere. Praying for rain for y'all.
My favorite tomatoes are the big yellow stripeys.
Tommy toes are great. My mom grew them to use in salads. Lettuce pear slices with a little of Mayo.
They are so good 😊
As I rewatch this video, your garden has grown so quickly. I can only imagine what it looks like now. Y'all are going to have so much fun and memorable conversations about this year's garden. Blessed 🙏🤗💕
We like the early girls for first wipe tomatoes. Better boys good tomato sandwich tomatoes. I am going to try the Cherokee tomato never had one. Sweet 100’s are good cherry tomatoes. I love fried green tomatoes. Can’t believe you don’t like them. Great with ranch dressing on them too. Love your videos! Wish we lived in the country like you do. My husband will be 70 in a few weeks and our gardening has slowed down from years past.
It was so smokey we couldn't go outside w/o getting a sore throat and it was 1100 miles north of us. The wind let up and it rained. Hallelujah! It's been so dry here the hay is very thin and short and not enough of it for the livestock. Praying we get more rain for the 2nd cuttin.
I'm with Matt on the fried green tomatoes, I could make myself sick on them. I live with one of my son's who doesn't eat tomatoes at all unless it's in a sause of some kind. When he was about six years old he and his older brother went out to the garden and ate a belly full of ripe tomatoes and of course they had salt on them and Danny got sick from all that salt and tomatoes and threw up. Since that day he has never wanted any fresh tomatoes and I have a garden full of them.
I have to many variables to name and I forgot some of the names already, I'm old lol. I do the Florida weave on my plants, I don't have any cattle panels. I have cukes on the hortinova trellis and the snap beans that will need picking tomorrow.
Your garden is coming along just fine and you will be able to enjoy all of efforts in your wonderful garden.
Fried green tomatoes with bacon jam! Yummy!! Your garden looks so good! Thanks for sharing!
I'm growing beefsteak, bushsteak, cherry, and roma tomatoes. I have never grown them before, but the plants are loaded with tomatoes. I remove the suckers. I'm not trying to root them because I don't have room for them. I think my mother-in-law said she removed one, stuck it back in the ground, and it was doing good.
I think it's awesome how you share your ideas and what works for you . Yet you nvr ever imply that your ideas are best and if you don't follow your wrong. You even make a point let ppl know that what they do isn't right or wrong. It's just what ever fits for ppl.
I love fried green tomato's!! Even when we go out to eat, if they are on the menu I will be getting some. I got a box of the peanut butter Little Debbies that Matt talked about, and oh man are they ever good! Hope ya'll have a great week ahead. Tell Miss Cindy we are thinking of her and remembering all of you in our prayers. God bless.
Y’all are cracking me up at the end of this video. We can so relate! Levi’s, Izod, Balloon Pants, Nikes with either the blue or red swoosh. The 80’s were stylish. LOL Good memories.
Tipper darlin', now I know you are a very sweet and beautiful lady. I know this. But, please try to be kind to poor Matt and plant a whole bed of his favorite cherokee purple and those yellow tomatoes. 🤗 God bless!
I loved being outside mowing grass and weedeating. I enjoy trimming bushes.i had 3 acres in SC and I lived alone so I stayed outside as much as possible I grew old and had to move to Phoenix with my family I miss home.
Y’all’s garden always looks amazing. Thank you for sharing.😊
I’m having a good year with my tomatoes 🍅 I have got some on every plant and so far they look great 😊
Wonderful 😊
Y’all are so sweet!!!
Thanks for sharing! I love to see your garden
Beautiful garden.
Looks amazing
I love fried green tomatoes, BLTs, whippoorwills, katydids, cool breezes, rain showers, temperatures in the '50's, cool springs, peppers, trees, squirrels, oooh, '50's in July would be awesome! I've only got ONE tomato plant this year, and I can't wait to get a tomato off that plant!
...a green onion dipped in salt with a Tomato sandwich
...perfect🌻
❤those tomatoes look so pretty!😊🎉❤❤
Love you guys! ❤️
I sure enjoy visiting with y’all. Love y’all’s videos.
🎉
Please make a video of the "crackhead squirrel". 😅
Matt should narrate the squirrels movements.
😊
Its not everyday one sees a crazy squirrel like what yall described. 😊
We will try to 😊
I found it kinda funny that the commercial that was playing during this video was of a talking squirrel 🐿️ AAA. Coincidence?
Love your videos! You are amazing
I surely enjoyed the visit and the way you two get along so well... thanks for sharing 🤗❤️
when I was little whippoorwills where really common, like circadas, it was the sound everyone thought of as outside especially in the evening, other then circadas its pretty quiet now, I think the migration has moved east of us. Roma (freeze well for sauces and such) and beefsteak, sometimes a few brandy wine, dont do much to them other then tie them up when they get big enough.
It’s always so cozy visiting with you. Thank you 🤗🤗🤗
Another great video!! Enjoy your gardening and your talks during your popsicle breaks!!
I camped at the Obed Wild & Scenic River last weekend and and dusk, the whippoorwills fired up, literally in every direction. That was something to hear!
Loved going down memory lane with y’all. The garden looks good.
That visit with you folks was wonderful. I felt like I was there with you.
Someone send Matt a beekeeper's hat and netting! I'd love to see him sit and do a video wearing one! I use concrete wire and make my own heavy duty tomato cages. They are exceptionally strong. We don't remove suckers, although we've always said that 'this will be the year' that we do. I also let some grow on the ground. My paternal grandfather grew 200 tomato plants on the ground one year and they were giving tomatoes away to anyone who wanted them!
I grow Jersey Devil tomatoes, Kanner Hoell (Seed Savers - Decorah), Amish Paste, Delicious (St. Claire Seeds), and various cherry like Principe Borghese, Bumble Bee, Chadwick, and some Pink something-or-another. Plenty of 'yard snacks' that way! I'm in zone 4b.
😊 Thank you! Those tomatoes sound great!
I'm looking forward to next year's "Matt Gives Me a Sobriety Test" video, ha-ha! Y'all are the best! God bless!
😀
Very cute story about Katie. ❤
I have had a long Sunday on zero sleep. Im going to try to watch the whole video, but if i fall asleep to your soothing voices, will let it roll and re-watch tomorrow. Eastern Whippoorwill usually like an immature pine plantations. I used to fall asleep to their song at night in Wilkes County.
Hi, love your videos you both make a good team.
Your tomatoes & all of your garden are looking good..my favorite tomato is Cherokee Purple…I’m growing in 5 gallon buckets but the tomatoes aren’t looking good…sure wish I could call my daddy to get his advice….Daddy planted lots of tomatoes & he never staked them, just let them fall over and the suckers would grow more tomatoes…but it was a mess to try to find the tomatoes…I know he planted more than one kind but his favorite was “mariglobe” …kinda small but they had a ‘twang” to them….I sure do miss him…
So funny and cute story about Katie saying “I thought the Lord wanted you to be good to me, mama”….lol…precious memories of the little ones ❤❤
Prayers for Muss Cindy & all the family
Love the memories of your daddy 😀
Whenever Matt rubs his face with his hand...he's gonna say something funny😂
👏😎 Bravo. Great Work.
I purposely stay out of the sun now, I just had skin cancer removed from my face and I have a huge scar from my side of my nose all the way to my upper lip. With insurance it's costing me over a thousand dollars, ive had to have a couple of weeks off of work and disability only pays a small portion of your wages.
I'll never feel comfortable in my own skin since I look like scar face. So no finding love for me 😢.
Get a hat, log sleeves and long pants...sun isn't kind.
I love watching the two of you...Im envious.
I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that! My friend Jim had a large place removed from his face to. I will be praying for you!!
I planted a thick slice of tomato and I now see sprouts coming up!!😮😄
Love that!
The Okree shirt is great!
Thank you 😊
It’s so nice arching you and Matt just sitting together great family you got there
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed visiting with us 😊
