I never saw this before. Mel Brooks' films always make me laugh; somehow they are always on point, sharp, smart, but decent at the same time. And what a mess.
The televised version was crap because of the heavy censorship. Show the kid the theatrical version. He'll love it, especially the farting cowboys scene. My kids did.
I think Mel Brooks' earlier films back in the 70s were his best work and funnier too. High Anxiety was the last good one in my opinion. His later works might be enjoyed more by those who hated Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein et al.
Has anyone else ever seen the deleted scenes of young Frankenstein on the DVD there's 6 scenes edited out that make the movie even better I don't know why they were left laying on the cutting room floor when they should be inserted where they belong in the movie
No?!? I remember watching the bloopers, which were very good fun (Marty attacking Madeline Kahn's mink coat with his mouth being a particular highlight) but not deleted scenes? Perhaps an investigation is in order... Ah, such a shame DVD extras have become something of a lost art, they were great... Blu Ray's seem to have fuck all special features these days... dissappointing!
I get the impression Brooks agreed to participate in what he (might have) viewed as the stuffy and somewhat elitist BBC, on the grounds that he would be able to improv bits, and insert skits within it. But then again, Arena shows always had a lot of free reign and artistic licence... for good example - check out the Roger Mellie episode on surrealism if you haven't seen it before... fantastic stuff!
This is perfect in every way! I love Mel Brooks. Thank you for uploading this!

April 9...2021... We will probably never see him interviewed again!!!
This was surreal. Too crazy to be even interesting. At best, took him 60 secs to write it. Really interesting.
omg this is amazing he's so fucking funny! Mel Brooks is a legend. Audio cuts out at some points but still an awesome upload.
My dear, the audio cuts are on purpose! :)
Mel Brooks is a God.
One of the funniest things I have seen.
copyrights are going to kill all the fun in the world!!!!!!...even the drum part, there is no sound!!!FUCK !
It would be interesting to have a lengthy talk with Mel, the only problem with that is, you would probably die laughing before the talk was finished.
Bummed the sound cut out during the drumming part -cute they used Brian Eno as the ending theme
It's like a Jimmy Savile interview. Always evading the question

Yes. Not one good film after High Anxiety
Who else would love to see Mel Brooks and Robert DiNero and Joe Pecshi make a gangster movie
Does anyone else know why burt Reynolds were in blazing saddles

04:46 this sounds like a Monty Python sketch... but this amazing... watching Mel Brooks, one is reminded of the same manic energy as Spike Milligan...
But it's the other way around. Brooks did it first!!!
05:13 I loved the second take in the hall entrance. The first one was ugly and the second one brilliant.
Great, is this meant to be a spoof documentary? You can definitely see shades of The Office and Curb in this
Are you kidding??? TV!!!!!!!!

A Jew walks into a grocery store...and has to listen to me tell him how I memorized his movies. “Great, now I’ll never earn a buck from the replays.”
when was this recorded?
In the UK it was first broadcast on the BBC in 1981.
Has anyone else noticed that Mel always has a cup of some kind of liquid near him?
You think he is a drinker???
I suspect you are.
I didn't realise how poor an interviewee he is
Hilarious guy Mel Brooks! :D
