  • In this video I'm going to cover my process for picking out my brushes in Procreate BEFORE I begin a painting. "Before!?" You might ask... But how do you know which ones to choose? It's easier than you might think when you consider "Brush Type".
Check out the blog post to see all of the brush type categories that I use to select my brushes.

Good stuff…. Totally different than my scattered search methods. Thx Nathan

The scattered search method was what I used to use as well 😊until I realized it was too much of a distraction in my process. 🖌

I like this! It's like a palette of brushes. I always say to myself that I need to write down which brushes I use with different artworks, but I always seem to forget what I've used. Hopefully this will make it easier for me. Thank you!

I hope it will... It definitely makes it easier for me. I can't remember the last time I got distracted by not having the right brush. 👍

That's a really great idea and I'm going to try it out! As you've already mentioned: I'm always looking for the “right” brush when painting - and after painting, I don't really remember which one I chose for which picture. So this thinking BEFORE painting could really be a good approach. Thank you very much, Nathan!

I remember that show, but I never really watched it. I'll always know her as Brenda from 90210. 😊

Can I do this in Affinity Photo.?

Yes you can. You would tap on the brush in the brushes panel and choose "Duplicate" and then tap again and choose "Move to" and select your folder that you've created for your project brushes. 👍

another tip, u can also use the colored emojis like 🔴🟢 to tag the naming of ur brush folders
it gives it a nice visual separation so ur brain can instantly recognise the different sections
