    I'm glad to see you mention Kizuna Encounter; Rosa is so cool!
    I haven't played any Neo Geo games in real depth, but the ones that I tried that I really liked were the Aero Fighters games, Blazing Star, Double Dragon (it's a Fighter, rather than a Brawler), Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Last Blade 2, Mutation Nation, Ninja Commando, Ninja Masters, Pulstar, Real Bout Fatal Fury, the Sengoku games (really out-there), and World Heroes Perfect. Time will tell if I like these enough to stick with them, but at a glance, those seem to be the best of the system to me.

    I can honestly see the extra 8 bits compared to the genesis. Neo Geo was advertised as 24 bit, and it did show in the graphics. The graphics chip works on a 24 bit bus. It also helps that Neo Geo games were huge in MEGA POWER!!! Love it!

  • @rashidclark

    Other fun ones that I did not see in my local arcades include: "Captain Tomaday" (Cutesy shooter with drugs), "Money Puzzle Exchanger", "Pulstar", and "Kabuki Klash".
    The reason why "kizuna Encounter" had some of the same characters as "Savage Reign" is because KE is the sequel to SR. There's also a hardware add-on for arcades that turns KE into a 4-player tag-team game.

    I played Magician Lord a bit and Sengoku 1 any time I saw Neo Geo arcade machines available.
    Growing up in the 80's I played quite a few SNK games at the time, then when the 90's hit I played any fighting game in the arcade that I could get my hands on regardless of the company who made it. Thankfully I played several SNK fighters back then including Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters '94 & '95, Savage Reign, and World Heroes.

    Puzzled actually has platforming stages, and to get to the end you have to complete the whole game twice, with each of the characters....
    and it's very similar to the puzzle mode of Tetris Plus for the Game Boy...
    it has some intensely difficult stages, and has some strategy to it with the bomb attack thing that you need to charge up....
    you definitely need to try it if you're into puzzle games...

      I remember when gamepro magazine used to review Neo Geo games and they would also show the price for some of them they would start at about $250 a game way back when it was a new system way too expensive when you consider Super Nintendo games or Sega Genesis games at the time or like about 50 bucks. So even if you had the system good luck being able to afford more than one game for it because one game was almost the cost of another Super Nintendo brand new in the box or more depending on the game some went for $400 I think if I'm not mistaken.

    • @JohnRiggs
      @JohnRiggs  4 года назад +1

      @@allenwaters2975 My friend from high school I mentioned in this video just wanted Arcade Samurai Showdown at home so he bought that, but in the magazine, it was a neo geo + a free game (from, like, 5 games) for $500 or something. He grabbed World Heroes 2 as his bonus.

    • @allenwaters2975
      @allenwaters2975 4 года назад +1

      @@JohnRiggs that must have been when they lowered the price cuz I thought I remembered them costing something like 600 to 700 back in the day.
      Also my impression of Neo Geo was that it was mainly a fighting game system. You know where things like King of Fighters and a ton of other one on one Street Fighter like fighting games came out for it. Which unfortunately for me I kind of lost interest in those type of games after Street Fighter 2 which I loved at the time because I felt like with every new fighting game you had to learn a ton of new moves just to even be decent at them. It's nice to see that there was a little more variety on the system but would you say for the most part that Neo Geo is mainly a one-on-one fighting video game system or would you say it has a little more rounded Library than that?
