- I visit one of the newest neighbourhoods in my region and you won't believe how close it is to the local inmate population, it's pretty scary!
Do yard work in an orange jump suit and freak out the neighbours!…lol
😂😂😂
This power lines closer to home is crime against humanity. The builders, and city planers should be treated as criminals and those houses arre very expensive organizations for human rights should held protest ,ther and to you jon thanks so much for your excellent reporting.
Thanks for your amazing honesty and at least we have a great person like you who is telling us the truth. You are awesome.
I appreciate that
In east Europe, 50 years ago, it was illegal to build to close to the power lines. 1000 ft minimum
I wonder if any of the inmates were previously living in any of those new condos in Toronto.
There cells probably have more square footage. They might not ever want to leave.
Great video Jon !
I’m in BC and been following you from the start 😊
Excellent information. Thanks a lot.
Talk about neighbourhood amenities 😅
I forgot to mention the Trans Canada pipeline under the power lines right in front of where I was standing also.
Great video.
At some point in the (not so distant) future, people will look back at this housing bubble and ask "how could so many people get it so wrong?" Your videos will be a proof that no everyone got it so wrong.
Thank you!
Right on the money...!!! well said.
Look how people behaved 2020-2022…
Another great video Jon,keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for speaking the truth!
no problem
You are awesome , Great video Jon. Keep up the great work.
Thanks a ton!
Does anyone notice that these neighbourhoods tend not to have sidewalks? Its like every new subdivision in Niagara Falls lacks sidewalks. Remember to wear a wetsuit when you walk down Highway 20 or Garner Rd.
I'm surprised they haven't built a second jail there I here it's getting quite full
As always very informative thanks jon
thanks for watching
From second largest country by land mass to slump developments, Canada is on a whole different trajectory
Unfortunately
I used to live in North Delta BC and there were houses being built right under power lines on the right-of-way. How'd you like to live literally right under high tension power lines?
I used to live in that same area a long time ago.
I remember seeing a story on the news, an angry group of protesters walking under the lines with fluorescent tubes in there hands that would actually light up in your hand if you were standing close to them.
Prisoners may be locked up but their visitors are not. Birds of a feather…..
Stay safe. You may start poking some big bears.
I'm definitely not trying to make friends.
Indians will buy them. Compared to India this is paradise
really, I've heard they aren't too happy with the state of Canada these days
@@jonflynn Lately yes but they are still coming taking advantage of everything they can. Fraud, cheating, etc
Some top notch homes and location right there! Sign me up.
Power lines and a jail. No hazardous landfill site or homeless encampment ? Well then I'm not interested!
I’m guessing speculators never heard of NIMBY! All that neighborhood needs is a sewage treatment plant next door and it would be awesome😅
Trans Canada pipeline is back there also
Or a big slaughterhouse/meat packing plant 😅
Hey you are in my hood lol.. I’m in calderwood phase 1 lol.. came from hamilton
Shame on the municipality for allowing development here.
John I am new to Canada
Every video you post shows how quality of houses has degraded from past few years in Canada with increase in prices
It makes me really sad to see the current situation
Could you please also show some houses which are good to buy
Just to give people a little bit of hope
There is so much of negativity everywhere about Canada nowadays 😢
Sorry you came at a bad time. It appears that Canada followed the 'China model' of real estate development and now we are headed in the same direction (ghost cities, tofu-dregs, rotten-tails, and subdivided homes). Nowhere in Canada is safe from speculators. People born and raised here can't even find affordable homes to buy, and nothing will get better until our government changes legislation to disincentivize or prohibit speculation in residential property (including still allowing foreigners who have no intention of ever living here to buy "investment" property).
You get what you get and you don't get upset.
I mean sure its not the best location given the powerline and the jails, but to say that its only speculators buying is just not true. In addition, its not "speculation" if an asset is producing a reliable cashflow and can maintain/appreciate in value over time....its an investment...i know you are grumpy that the market is not falling appart but as a realtor you should know that there is a difference between speculating and investing in real estate. Interesting video nonetheless, Cheers!
haha cashflow, not even close. They're all negative cashflow and never had any intention of maintaining a reliable investment, pure speculation. $700-$800K for $2500-2800/month, do the math.
@@jonflynn Bingo. Great answer Jon. I wish we had more people like you in my neck of the woods. Most of the realtors that I know are who wants their cut, and they say adios to me...LOL..LOL
Appreciate in value over time? Wrong investment then. Because that's not how property is supposed to work. How is a used property at that supposed to increase in value? What is the justification for this? Or are you just going with market tradition? And if so how will it be different this time?
Location, Location,Location
I was looking for this comment, agreed.
I wonder if the developer intends to bury the local low-voltage power lines in the background, or leave them as-is looking very ghetto.
they're leaving them
Okay, I have a very basic question. What is a speculator?
"A speculator is someone who takes a chance on losing a lot of money when there's a prospect of making even more money. A speculator might, for example, invest in a risky stock in the hopes she can sell it eventually at a profit." vocabulary.com
Lol Jon 😂 you are in my neighborhood. I wish i had seen you. I also wondered about the jail too. There is also a convention centre opposite the jail where wedding etc are held. Kinda strange to have your wedding reception across from a jail. Havent had any issues though.
I've been to a few wedding's there (John Michael's), nice place. There's also a trans canada pipeline running through the neighbourhood I forgot to mention.
I'm surprised Speculators don't care at some time you are renting or selling these properties. living near these types of towers my cell phone almost never works at home and while a prisoner is not likely to escape once in jail, the transfer to the jail has resulted in breaks so I'd think that be a concern
I wouldn't buy or rent there.
You could visit your incarcerated friends and family with a low carbon footprint.
Just a short walk
😂
I don't understand what's the problem with the electricity..Experts are saying " Safe and effective"...
At such a high voltage, living too close can lead to cancer because the electromagnetic field caused by these power lines trigger your body cells.
Never believe experts. Everyone is an expert these days. Use your common sense. That is the best way to figure out things. Experts can be bought by the mighty $$$ these days...LOL
Everything is safe and effective except having your own opinion these days
I recently went to see some friends that live in Millcroft, in Burlington. Apparently, it's supposed to be a nice, more "affluent" area. Really? LOL Power lines EVERYWHERE and it's in the north end of Burlington near Hwy 5! If anyone has ever been up there, it's more like Brampton or Milton, than Burlington. Laughable.
yep, the affluent areas are now reserved for very high income earners, the elite and old money
Not one tree looks ugly as all hell.
I wish you would have went through the pricing of the homes over time.....? Started selling at.... $ Now selling for ....?
will be doing that in a future one
"neighborhood"...hah!
Every immigrant I work with has to take the visiting relatives to NF... easier to sell 'investments' to offshore money launders when these piles are near Canada's most famo,ur tourist attraction?
Living close to power lines less than 500ft from your home can cause cancers.
yep
So is eating many of the items you buy in the supermarkets
There’s no conclusive evidence of this… the increased cancer found in the studies could have been related to the defoliant sprayed around the towers and along the lines to keep them accessible for maintenance
@robertduklus6555 it's not the same, big power lines are very bad
@siahwashn9794 I am not going to disagree with you but nobody is forcing anyone to buy or rent near the power lines. When buying my first house I made sure it wasn't in the flight path for the pearson airport.
What a joke people are crazy to live there smh😂
They don't know any better
Hey Jon back in Soviet Canada I see 😯 wow so beautiful
Not everyone knows there is hail right there.
Another great field trip!👍
Glad you enjoyed it
What I hate the most about this development is that they put a Roundabout on Hwy 20 to accommodate it.
yep and many people don't know how to use it
Could build a pretty sweet zipline in your backyard off those powerline towers
Remember the movie Tango & Cash.
They escaped from the prison by zip lining down the power lines.
LMAO
haha yeah
Wow. What an ugly looking area. Speculator/Investor whatever, I would not pay a dime for one of those homes.
you and me both
Who issued those building permits and allowed that construction in the first place. Anyone that is harmed by runaway inmates or radiation should be able to sue for gazillions…if they live long enough…recipe for disaster!
Trans Canada pipeline is there too
Well, at least the builder is building. The lack of housing in the London area has driven prices nutz.
If the developer can’t sell them, somebody will rent them.
We need housing, lots of it.
They're only building because speculators drove up the prices. So you think a bunch of overpriced homes is the answer?
@@jonflynn We need housing for middle class Canadians, not for the speculators/Investors. Thanks, Jon. You are doing great.
Sometimes inmates escape lol
Im living not too far from here with my parents. Just insane. I'll never be able to afford a mortgage payment in Niagara. Even if I could - Whats the point when this is the inventory that remains or is actively being developed. I could never imagine starting a family next to this facility.
me either, very disturbing
They had power lines going through a school yard in Quesnel, BC. They found the cancer rate in children and adults in the area was far above average so they shut the school down. Power grids like should be avoided. .
Where do you think all those piles of soil mixed with brick and construction waste will end up? Developer: "That's not waste, that's quality backfill material, in fact it makes the ideal topsoil".
I thought the same thing as you… tar paper, broken bricks, plastic, concrete chunks, cardboard, drywall scraps , and wood scraps all make great fill 😊
Come to paris 😂 ontario
will do
… I have the Eiffel Tower in my backyard … no really I do 😅
@@jonflynn paris power Line road you will see houses just below the high voltage cable: ⚡️
Happy April 8th eclipse totality day. Taking the train to Niagara to be one of those million visitors.
A lot of pick pockets are going too.
😂
Thorold south. Ain’t nobody wanna live there!
nope lol
Kids get free playground equipment! Don't climb too high though, kids.
or dig too low because the trans canada pipeline is also there.
A good reminder of mans ability to harness energy
I mean, the kids probably get more of an education there than they do at school
That area is so utterly dystopian. OMG is this what Canada is? Horrible what people will do to make money.
The trans Canada pipeline is right where I'm standing also
Jail and powerlines right in your neighborhood 😂
trans canada pipeline right beside where I was filming also
You forgot there’s not one but two NG pipe lines going through the middle of that neighbourhood😂
yeah I just checked the location and it was right where I was filming, good call.
Too bad we already put our dp and signed everything. Had this video came up last year, it would’ve been great 😢
sorry about that, the trans Canada pipeline is also right under my feet
I have never watched your videos and definitely will not start, as its full of misinformation. The no stopping/parking signs are out front of a banquet center to deal with over flow parking. You said there was no fence around the detention center but than fly a drone over it showing mulitple levels of fencing and security. In niagara falls you now have housing backing right up to "gentlemans clubs" which have had many shootings/violence in the parking lot. Thete has never been an escape from the detention center. There are alot of faults to this community but the same goes for your video.
I never said there wasn't a fence around it I said there was no fence between the community and the jail beside the one around it. They're not "No parking" signs they're "no stopping" signs so there goes that argument. I also forgot to mention the trans Canada pipeline runs right through the community also. I'm guessing you own or rent it this area?
indians?
Reservation ?
While no universally accepted safe distance exists, some guidelines suggest: Living 700-1000 feet from high-voltage lines is best to limit EMF exposure. Forget the jail those lines are likely very high voltage, between 100 kV and 800 kV, so hard no living that close for me. Heck I would turn around as soon as I saw them if going for a viewing.
There is on builder in Orleans that decided to built a set of townhouses near local power lines. They have been removed from my viable purchase list. I used to laugh when I saw homes in Philippines built next to power lines…I thought we wouldn’t do that in Canada. Boy was I wrong!
I totally agree. We walked away from a property east of the GTA, rural, beautiful farm, but the photos were missing one critical thing and most likely photoshopped - the HV power lines and quite a few of them spread along the 100 acres with the closest to the farmhouse being within 30 M. Felt like suing the listing agent for misleading photos and info, and am not dumb enough to live in sth that close to power lines knowing they cause cancer. The development Jon shows is a mid-boggling joke... how can anyone be uneducated and dumb enough to purchase a home near a source of cancer?
Grasping at straws. Is that how you build your fan base?
Peter Van Haeften - Right At Home Realty Inc., Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Brokerage
haha, just calling out the BS. You want to sell your clients a house here?
looks like yet another realtor without any ethics has decided to out themselves. thanks for that peter
You should do a video on finding a good Real estate guy.... Not like Peter what's his name...
Amazing..
When I moved to Niagara falls they said I was going to live next to powerful men. Now, I just live next to power. :(
Just like down the street from me.....houses all along the powerlines!
You can see Small Scale Farm from your drone footage. I'm there every Monday morning working if anyone like to help out and volunteer!¿
I’ve been meaning to go there and check it out
