- The call came in shortly after 12:30am for this mill on Privilege St. The mill has been vacant for several years. It was the old CNC Chemical building. The fire quickly engulfed the mill as a General Alarm was sounded, bringing in mutual aid from over a dozen departments.
Great Work Brother And What An Awesome Effort By Woonsocket Fire. Stay Safe Dizzy.
@@udizzy1969 yeah it sure was,
So Many Mills In Woonsocket Have Suffered The Same Fate, I'm A Woonsocket Native, V/F For 47 years In Ct. So Much History Gone! Great Job By All Depts. Thanks For The GREAT Footage Excellent Job! Everyone Goes Home!
Hopefully there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident, I haven't seen a fire like that since I was a kid growing up in a old mill town and watching the old factories burn.
Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.
Wow! When you can see the header that far away, you got a long job.
Great footage as always. I live less than 1 mile from this. I was woken by a loud bang. about 1 am didn't know what it was.
Probably too late now but I wouldn't trust that that shit was a ok to breathe in just saying I live off park ave on the side close to north smithfield and didn't know there was a fire til I heard ppl chatting about it but the smoke in the video looked so thick
The first fire they called an inferno was just like this one. Super video.
I worked in an old mill. Oil soaked floors, you worry about fires starting like this. Sad to see it go down.
Hate to see those great old mill buildings get destroyed.
there was another mill that burned down on june 2011
Nice efficiency, letting the total loss demolish itself and saving the property owner demolition costs. ladder nozzle did an awesome job with the water curtain keeping the fire contained. I hope there were no injuries.
Great video Matt. I see they went to adjacent structure protection when they realized they couldn't save the cellar hole
Matt, when you were getting close, it reminded me of the scene from gone with the wind where Rhett and Scarlett get outside of Aunt Pittypat's house and they see the fire from the warehouses near the depot, and Scarlett says"What-what's that" and Rhett says to her"our gallant lads have set Fire to the warehouses near the depot. There's enough ammunition in box cars down there to blow us to Tara! "Basically what he says to her right before the beginning of the burning of Atlanta scene. I'm sure you've seen Gone With The Wind before of course.
Great coverage
That's one way to redevelop a parcel of real estate. One wonders if it was an accidental fire started by homeless people or something more nefarious. Reducing it to ashes is probably a better way to dispose of potentially hazardous residue left from when it was in business.
I read that this mill was an old chemical plant and was considered a brownfield before the fire
I was a firefighter in Harvey IL and most of the structure fire were the business burning for insurance I was at 80 percent of the fire were set for insurance and 15 percent was people trying to stay warm and 5 were gang related
@@OldCBnGuns What is a brownfield?
@@kenthompson5723a site for building on, which has been built on before. That's what it is in UK planning.
The $2 million plus listing had been removed not long ago.
Hope everyone was safe it is not worth losing people for vacant buildings.
The best thing about this fire is it is raining. Less chance to have embers ignite grass and roofs nearby.
It's crazy that all these mills catch on fire when they contain hazardous materials that cost big bucks to properly dispose of. Reports say the chemicals left behind were not hazardous wasteful, isn't that what the ppl of East palestine were told when they set a blaze vinyl chloride into the air strong carcinogen amongst other things
Nice job Matt.
Great footage, Matt. -426
Someone I bet lit that fire. Fires dont just start by themselves of this magnitude...just saying 👀
Great job, Matt!
Great job on the mill inferno hot dam
Gonna take while too get that finished wow.
Ah yes. TOO much fire TOO soon. Smells "suspicious".
Super la vidéo respect aux pompiers une usine qui brûle j espère que les gens ont sortie être blessés
Wonder who started it this time used to live down the road from that mill. Just a little funny for something to be there for that long with no problems then just randomly out of the blue it goes up in flames
Great job did Smithfield send there new Tower Ladder?
yes, it's in one of my shots towards the end
Looks like all they could do is protect exposers . Sad to see all the once great factory’s destroyed .
what a total mess!
i think they did all they could since the building wasn’t possible to save.
Welcome back bro how's the knee
I stayed back and in one spot lol. Still way too early to cover the fires like I normally do. I'm progressing but not as fast as I wish I could lol. Going to be a long road. Thank you for asking!!
@@sparkywfd it takes time I'm still not up to speed after my double by pass almost 18 months ago
Did we have no backup companies with a ladder
There were 10 mutual aid ladders sent to the scene
Torch job
