    IMO, incompetent fire fighting.

    • @mkay1957
      @mkay1957 Месяц назад

      The firefighters are doing structure protection there. Others in the forest are cutting fire breaks and lighting back fires.
      It looks like the people who owned the stucco house had cleared away grass and brush in back to give them defensible space. If there was a bunch of brass and brush near their house, they most likely would have lost it.

    • @i-likemy-space7729
      @i-likemy-space7729 Месяц назад +1

      @@mkay1957 @10:55 about 30 fire fighters are idle. Five guys with string trimmers could replace all 30 of them. String trimmers can cut the grass down to the soil and throw it to the side making any fire in horizontal fuel burn slower and easier to control.

    • @mkay1957
      @mkay1957 Месяц назад

      @@i-likemy-space7729 I was talking about the guys doing structure protection. But as far as cutting line along roads, they should use string trimmers in the spring when the grass has just dried. Out in the forest they use bulldozers where they can. Ground crews out in the forest use Pulaski tools, shovels, and chains saws to cut fire breaks. But those tools are not very useful in areas that are mostly rock, like you see along the highway at lower elevations.

    I missed about 8 deer crossing 32 right at 4:01 when I was coming home from fishing on Deer Creek in college. I almost hit the embankment on the side where the truck is parked. Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve is gone. All of the building have been destroyed. Lots of us are on edge with what happened. My neighbor who moved to chico after losing his home of 30 years in the Camp fire now has to worry about his son's place. My nephew was able to get out the night of the fire down 32 from Forest Ranch. He said the fire was moving so fast up the canyon and did not expect many of his neighbors places to be standing. People I know in Cohasset were trapped and had to go on logging roads cutting locked gates to get out. Now, why were those gates locked and not open if they knew people were going to be trapped. Also it seems like they were more worried about the mansions overlooking Bidwell park than they were the people located on Cohasset. Cal Fire and sheriffs abandoned over 100 people who were trapped at the helipad waiting for evacuations which never arrived. Instead they took the matters in their own hands and got out safely. The last thing, this is big money maker for some people. SPI will get insurance money from the trees they lost. Private fire companies are raking in the cash. Its not about saving people it is keep the money flowing and stay out of the woods.
    Back in the 70s/80s it was very uncommon to see these large fires because there were people who worked and lived off of the forest. People knew better than to start a fire. We did hear stories (hayfork fire/fountain fire). It was not a common thing back then because people who worked in there kept the forest safe. Locked gates, don't even get me started with federal lands. Those guys are using shovels to put out the fire. Its shameful and disgusting what has happened to our natural resources. Piss poor management.
    Yes, it was a scumbag who should not have been out on the streets. Two felonies and walking the streets. Heck he had to drive by several schools so not sure if he reported or not...

Like you said wish they could have put more resources at the start, I wish the wind wasn’t as strong the fuel wasn’t dry and the temperatures were cooler but the fact of the matter is that it didn’t happen that way and the firefighters are doing their best to try to extinguish this fire.

      The firefighters along the road? They're using the road as a fire break or point they hope to stop the fire and keep it from progressing. Firefighters on the side of the road where the fire is burning will work to put out flames on that side of the road while those on the other side will watch for embers or areas fire may cross the road and try to put those areas out. It's too dangerous to put firefighters into steep and rugged terrain with tall flames everywhere and limited water they can carry in their engines so they pick a point where it is safer for them to work and easier to tackle the fire.

    Plasma Fires do that kind of burn, and vaporization of Materials including Metals. Human remains everywhere in these pop-up plasma fires. The Plaza Fire starter drone fly's over gets co-ordinates and everything burns but the Dry Trees, and blue things. 7 pulses per second of a plasma ray the whole thing goes up in seconds... no one gets out if they were there for those pulses.

    Hmmm, this is a tragedy but what I would like to know for many years what is the attraction to make some people live pretty much in the middle of nowhere dry brush sure the animals can roam a little more what is the middle of a death trap especially when it comes to fires.
    I've often heard the number one reason people say "it's quiet" I've been in those areas and it's not that quiet and there isn't enough quiet in the world where I'd like to live in the middle of nowhere no fire departments you have to go a good 20 or 30 me to the store sometimes living in certain areas is not worth it.
