in asian culture, second-chance romance could be "in-another-life". for example one of them was dead miserably, so in the next life they'd reincarnation and finished the story they haven't finish
I love your videos, they’re so aesthetically pleasing and I really like listening to you. About 2 years ago I found the whole booktube community and your channel was the first one I found.I was watching your videos for a while and unfortunately because of a personal problem I got into a HUGE reading slump.A few weeks ago I found some of your videos and started binge watching them, it really made me want to read again.Thank you so so much!!❤️
Many second chance romances are friends to lovers, but friends to lovers really often aren't second chance romance. In order for a book to be second chance romance, they have to have been separated for some amount of time. And they have to have had a romance in the past. Or they ALMOST had a romance in the past. So romance/almost romance > separation > reunited. Many many friends to lovers romances do not include the separation or a romance in the past. A second chance romance NEEDS to have this separation. Even if the separation is just they agree to see other people but don't ever have a physical separation. Does that make sense??
OMG Josh & Hazel was my first Christina Lauren and I adored it and I just finished People we meet on vacation this week after hearing you rave about it and I adored it !
Love this Challenge ❤️ It's so hard to choose just 3 favourites! I also would love to see the historical fiction recommendations because I love them, but I haven't read them for a while. 😊
I didn't know that I know your choices this much. 😂 I guessed all the three books from historical fiction, from adult romance ( though I thought you'd pick "Beach read" instead of "People we meet on vacation" 😆) and I guessed right one or two books in the other genres too. In Sci Fi, my first guess was "Warcross", and when you added that later, I was so happy! 😁
I'm completely obsessed with historical fiction and hope you do a video on it soon! If you haven't read The Rose Code by Kate Quinn, you definitely should. That book gave me chills.
The Nightingale is definitely one of my favorite books of all time as well! And I don't know if you have read it already but if not, I would recommend reading Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah, which is as heartbreaking and beautiful as the Nightingale is.
I'm not sure if this posted the first time,so here it is again. If you do the trope video, could you include the trope where the one person asks the other why they never responded to their letters, and the other person responds that they never received any. Thanks! Also, loved the video and concept
Dial A for Aunties would be the perfect “second chance romance” because the love was there and then it wasn’t… until it came back! Friends to lovers seems more like a slow burn from the friend-zone to finally being more.
second chance lovers means that you’ve dated before (or were really close to it) and for some reason didn’t, time has passed and now you’re getting a second chance at being together. most friends don’t almost date, not date, take time away from each other then come back together. friends to lovers means that you’re very good friends that slowly turn into lovers
To me Second Chance Romance involves two characters that knew each other prior to their second chance. For example they were friends and had a fall out or they dated and broke up, haven’t seen each other for a couple of years and then found each other again. Friends to lovers is more like they’ve known each other for a while. They both have feelings for each other but neither one is willing to admit it. But they don’t have a fall out or anything. And they don’t date and break up and then get back together a few years later.
I don't know if you've done this type of video, but you could do videos about you're favourite books from each genre. That way you don't have to choose, you just tell us all you're favourites from each genre.
Second chance is they had a romantic relationship previously and friends to lovers they were just friends before. As if they’ve broken up they’re then being given a ‘second chance’
This is probably a stupid question, but I always wonder about The Astonishing Color of After…is her mom actually a bird or does she just think she is? Is that where the magical realism part comes in?
As for historical fiction I think you'd like the book "The Poison Keeper" by Deborah Swift. It's really good! Actually it is about an actual person but I think some of the story line is made up.
Second chance romance I think it's a second chance at romance/live- meaning they had tried to be together, and it failed, now years later, they try again. As the title says. while friends to lovers I'd friends (never were together, always friends) end up together. Mysteries- Truly devious....
I think second chance romance could really be any story where the main love interests were in each others lives before, even if they weren't friends. I'd consider beach read a second chance romance/enemies to lovers rather than friends to lovers. Or any other situation where the love interests had small roles in the other main character's life before!!
I'm curious, have you read Legend by Marie Lu? It's a scifi dystopian romance trilogy (technically quartet but I like to pretend the last book doesn't exist, it wasn't very necessary either way). If you've read it, what did you think?
I am just dabbling into romance but I think that a second chance romance is defined by a large gap in time. Big fight, moving away, marrying someone else. Generally losing touch. Friends to lovers wouldn’t have that huge time gap. Someone tell me if that’s anything
I'm a little depressed that Harry Potter wasn't in the list..... But of course, it YOUR list and you have all the freedom to pick the books you like....
You've read "Maybe someday" by Colleen Hoover, that's the perfect example of the friends to lovers romance, which doesn't entangle with second chance romance.
The Book Thief is so special to me because not only was it wonderful but it was a book I picked up on my own, no prompting, no hype, no reviews nor booktube rave(I hadn't discovered booktube yet). I just saw it at a thrift store and picked it up. Its easily one of my all time favorites!
Category: Historical Fiction book number 1 (me and Hailey in unison): The Book Thief. Surprised, I hope not, I mean if you've been around on this channel long enough you'd know.. P.S. who are you if you haven't read The Book Thief? Go read it now lol.
@@HaileyinBookland I finally finished An Ember In The Ashes series! This August 7. It is only 4 books long and the 4th released last year. I had to catch up by reading books 3 and 4. There are recaps available online for this series if needed. The series is worth finishing. It now one of my favorite ya series.
Hey Hailey, I recently discovered a history podcast and have been binging episodes like crazy! The Alice in Wonderland episode made me think of you, if you’re interested its called “The History Chicks” I think you’d appreciate that episode :)
I think we should just call second-chance romance "exes to lovers" so it's not confusing lol
In many cases they would be long out friend or colleagues who fell out etc. Simply there's bad history in general.
in asian culture, second-chance romance could be "in-another-life". for example one of them was dead miserably, so in the next life they'd reincarnation and finished the story they haven't finish
@@hi-nl1fd that's so beautiful, they would still get their happy ending
The way I knew book thief would be first one you'd pick
I would have guessed Alice in wonderland. I haven’t watched the whole video though.
THANK YOUUU for giving The Fault in Our Star the credit it deserves! Love that book and love John Green!
Exactly! 😍
Hailey: "I do planning of doing a historical fiction recommendations very soon."
Me: *screamed on top of my lungs* YESSS PLEASEEEEE
I love The Fault in Our Stars too! A good book is a good book, and John Green is a great writer.
Video idea: reading series you need to finish for a month! A great way to finish those series you need to finish!
I love your videos, they’re so aesthetically pleasing and I really like listening to you.

So happy to see that you will keep The Book Thief and The Nightingale. They are also my all-time favourite historical fictions ❤️❤️❤️
OMG Josh & Hazel was my first Christina Lauren and I adored it and I just finished People we meet on vacation this week after hearing you rave about it and I adored it !
friends to lovers is monica and chandler from friends. second chance romance is ross and rachel
This is actually such a great metaphor for it!
Love this Challenge ❤️ It's so hard to choose just 3 favourites!

josh and hazel was the first romance book i read and it's still my favorite, there's just something about them that hits different than anyone else.

I get so excited when I see a new video from you pop up in my subscription feed.
I love your videos! My mom and I got back into reading for fun because of you!
I'm so happy to hear that!!
Aww, that’s cute
I totally agree about Raybearer and still I'm baffled with why people aren't talking about it. The audiobook btw was amazing!
I agree with your historical fiction picks. You inspired me to read lovely war.

I loved House of Salt and Sorrows Such A Fantastic Adventure Great Video Hailey Have a Wonderful Weekend
do this with 5 maybe 10 books per genre! I think that’s realistic for a not booktuber collection!
Dial A for Aunties would be the perfect “second chance romance” because the love was there and then it wasn’t… until it came back! Friends to lovers seems more like a slow burn from the friend-zone to finally being more.
You're hilarious! I've been watching your videos for a while so I was able to guess some of your favourites, fun! 😊
I read Heartless and really loved it

Your hair is stunning in this video!!!
This is a lovely idea! 😍 I think i might do this as well. Don't worry I will give you credit! ❤❤
I feel like making this video would give me maaaad anxiety (so totally gonna make it)💀 great video hailey!💖
Great idea!! Love that new tag video! 🤗
I LOVE the book thief!! I agree, it’s so heartbreakingly beautiful. I cannot explain my love for this book. It is a ✨MASTERPIECE✨

I read Heartless by Marissa Meyer because of you and i really enjoyed it!

You know you're a true Hailey fan when you guess all three historical fiction books 🤣
i loveeeeee your videos!!💗💗
Im glad lovely war was on here because I own it but haven't read it yet. I really want to read it though!
I love your hair in this video!
can i just say i LOVE your top 😍
This was such a fun and creative video idea!! What three classics would you have chosen (besides Alice)?
I saw the movie The Hate you give and I loved it

You are not my age, but I really liked the book "felix Ever After"! And so if I am in a search of a book, I will watch your channel!
You could also do the opposite of this and talk about books you loved that you don't think you'd have read without booktube
This video was so fun!
This is probably a stupid question, but I always wonder about The Astonishing Color of After…is her mom actually a bird or does she just think she is? Is that where the magical realism part comes in?
In magical realism you often don't have hard answers and it is sort of left open for interpretation.
As for historical fiction I think you'd like the book "The Poison Keeper" by Deborah Swift. It's really good! Actually it is about an actual person but I think some of the story line is made up.

Guessing 2 out of her 3 historical fictions and thw one that i guessed that she didnt choose was a Rita Sepetys. Lol. That was fun 😀☺

Isn't second chance romance specifically where they either had a falling put or like life circumstances got in the way?
What did the author of illumine do? I'm sorry I'm out of the loop
Can anyone explain what is the controversy about jay Kristoff
What is your opinion on the falconer trilogy?
My 3 for Historical Fiction: The War that Saved My Life, Jefferson’s Sons, and The Librarian of Auschwitz.
