Friends to lovers is more like they’ve known each other for a while. They both have feelings for each other but neither one is willing to admit it. But they don’t have a fall out or anything. And they don’t date and break up and then get back together a few years later.

I'd consider beach read a second chance romance/enemies to lovers rather than friends to lovers. Or any other situation where the love interests had small roles in the other main character's life before!!

I am just dabbling into romance but I think that a second chance romance is defined by a large gap in time. Big fight, moving away, marrying someone else. Generally losing touch. Friends to lovers wouldn’t have that huge time gap. Someone tell me if that’s anything

You've read "Maybe someday" by Colleen Hoover, that's the perfect example of the friends to lovers romance, which doesn't entangle with second chance romance.

In magical realism you often don't have hard answers and it is sort of left open for interpretation.
