- The Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is a sensitive method for detecting and quantifying many types of analytes in a solution. In the Sandwich ELISA, the target analyte is caught between two antibodies: the capture antibody and the detection antibody. The capture antibody is immobilised on a solid surface and the detection antibody is linked to an enzyme whose activity is used to measure the amount of the analyte. This video is a demonstration of the Sandwich ELISA procedure, used here to quantitate the cytokine Interleukin-6 in cell culture medium. Sandwich ELISA is presented by Samuel Brod and directed by Rosemary Clyne.
