I went there yesterday and we could not go to the top without the ropes. It was very slippery, and even with the poles it was not possible to do it. I loved your video! And the view is amazing!
I think the ropes are there for those infamous Olympic wet days when the rocks are extremely slippery and there's mud. I wouldn't want to climb that dirt/rock scree when it's soaked as one wrong step could send you sliding.
Did you film with a tripod or did you set your phone on rocks and trees? I’m hiking solo but would like to take video with myself included. I want to bring a tripod but thought I might look silly 😅
I agree that the rope sections weren’t that bad. I think the looseness of the dirt made it hard to get traction, but otherwise, it’s very doable. I guess everyone has a different degrees of comfort. Great video. Props for “setting up” the camera & gng back for it. I’ve tried that & it’s exhausting! 😝
I went there yesterday. It's a dangerous, scary, tough, and challenging hike that I have been to Washington State, but It's worth it. The best view ever😍😍😍
Do you offer paid guide services? I am heading to Olympic national park June 6th-12th and plan on doing all the must do stuff in Olympic national park while out there. Is early June a good time for this or should I reschedule?
Mt Storm King is on my to-do list. I thought Marymere was more popular that justified, though that's just my spoiled opinion ;) I know of a few Native American legends in the area of this mountain and Lake Crescent. Sadly some areas have lost the stories and histories, but at least a couple remain of this location.

Great job making it up there! It's beautiful

I bring a very small tripod. I am usually alone so no one around to see me looking silly XD
Another great vid. This is my backyard. One of my favorite hikes
I’ve never even heard about this mountain, but we don’t get out to the Olympics too often. Thanks for sharing your adventure with the world as always.

Yep, kind of a different experience for everyone who goes
I just get more exercise setting up the camera, so I call that a win haha
Its so nice watching it. I did hike that on a foggy day 8/31/2023. Will do it again on a clear day .not scary at all .I had my hiking pole.
Awesome! It's such a fun climb
Brave 😊
Maybe the ropes are for the winter when there is snow?? Or wind
McClellan butte when it melts would be a good scramble for you
Oh yes, I've had that one the list for a while now!

For sure it is so worth it, cannot beat that view of lake Crescent!
