Can i download it onto and external hardrive if i format it to ntfs format.

Ext. hard drive will entail a cable to connect to the car so as Vauxhall do say put it onto a USB I'd stick with that really.

Tried different usb sticks but each time says hardware not compatible

Sorry for delay, only just seen this. I have no difficulty with my USBs which use the NTFS format, so could be worth re-formatting your USB to NTFS?
