Nice video. We backpacker the other side of the Island and plan on Rock Harbor side in the future. Nothing compares to the quiet of IR. Beautiful.

THANK YOU for pointing out that rushing down the trail just to snag a shelter is NOT the point! I just suffered through a few other channels’ vids and got so sick of it - gotta get up early and zoom so we get a shelter. Why are they hiking anyway? duh

When yall film while walking, is the GoPRo attached to a pole of harnes? Because it stays nice and level while filming, which is very nice for us viewers.

I'm one of the rush to shelter people, they are awesome we go in mid May and nothing beats them in the cold rain even had to set up the tent inside in cold weather the shelters will spoil you

In the Navy, we had a name for the patches you wear behind the ear for motion sickness and the people who wore them.

I'd like to hike with you guys sometime if you ever want company. Most of my fiends hardly ever get to go. I'm in New Albany and go to Wayne National a lot. Thanks for taking us along, through the screen anyway. Go Bucks!!!

Going to Isle Royal in 2019. Have been to Dolly Sods a # of times. How would you compare IR to DS?

Did you make your own camo hammock? I have the same pattern from Ripstop by the Roll...I made a tarp.

That was definitely some rough terrain, especially in the rain. Too bad about the fishing in part one....looking forward to seeing pike frying in the pan in part 2! Counting down my Pictured Rocks Trip, 9 more days. They say there is some leaf color change happening right now and that its about 1-2 weeks early this year, with peak color the last week of Sept or first week of Oct.

We drove past pictured rocks on the drive up - looked awesome. I have heard last week of sept. for peak leaf change as well. Unfortunately you might have to wait until the third (and final) video to see the pike eating fest - but it does happen!

Thanks for videoing the Isle Royale Trip. My 8 children and I use to backpack the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior and we always wanted to get to Isle Royale. We never did, but your video shows very well how nice it was so at least I got to see it. I have not backpacked for the last 20 years but I am going to start again as I currently am updating to all the new lighter gear. I am currently more interested in backpacking areas of Colorado that we jeeped last summer, however Isyle Royale is on my bucket list so again thanks for all the good info.

May I ask a question about fishing permit? Could you buy the fishing permit on the island?

Great series of videos. I just started hammock camping getting pretty excited about heading out. The crazy thing is I have a cottage in Northern Wisconsin and go up to Houghton, Copper Harbor snowmobiling all the time, didn’t know about Isle Royals. Once I get some butt time in my hammock, that is going to be on my bucket list of places to go! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures! Keep up the great informative videos.

Looks like a beautiful area. Thanks for taking us along. I disagree with Phil and the length is just about right. Hope you guys get some better weather. BTW which blue Arcteryx rain jacket is that you are wearing.

TrailSlug it's the Alpha SL jacket. It is fantastic. Only ~11oz too. Just pricey like all things arcteryx

Do you never miss tarp doors when it is windy and/or rainy? Do you or your down equipment never get wet in those conditions without doors?

    • @SchillBrothersOutdoors
      @SchillBrothersOutdoors  6 лет назад

We were fine without doors. One night Andy's UQ got a little wet from the rain, but other that that we were fine.

Quick tip: get the ground cloth for for the helinox chairs. You won't regret it when there's wet/loose soil or sand

I like these guys but I wish they’d cut out all the filler. For example there was no need for 6 updates on the ferry, we don’t need a review of the day we’ve been watching the video so we get how the day was, etc. It just feels like they’re forcing their video length & honestly I’d prefer a 15-20 min video anyway. & the fluff is a common thing in most their videos
