Every single episode of this series has been awesome. especially for me being in southern Ontario all of these places are within my reach for a road trip and every episode I've had to add another spot to my bucket list. cant wait to see the next series.
Stunning series! This episodes resonates with me deeply. We have a planned visit to Isle Royale in May of next year and I'm terrified it won't live up to my expectations. I guess I should step off the seaplane with your positive mindset 😊
I enjoyed watching your video. I’m sorry Isle Royale didn’t live up to your expectations. I have been to Isle Royale more than a dozen times. It’s my favorite place to hike. I hope my comments here will help others to avoid the same rookie mistake I’ve seen almost every trip. You do yourself a disservice trying to conquer Isle Royale in one visit. The island is a wonderful place to spend time observing the nature and solitude it offers. My advice is simple, shorter days on the trail. More time in camp exploring the surrounding area. During the course of the week plan to spend two nights at the same campsite. Isle Royale is rugged, isolated and beautiful. She is worth more than a quick dash across her just to be checked off a bucket list. Safe travels and Godspeed.
I love IR and have loved this series. I'm so glad you made it to the Island. I've been there the last two years and it has certainly gotten busier but last year we had no issues securing a shelter at each site (except the inland lake ones that don't have shelters). Our route each time was S. Lake Desor, to Hatchet, to McCargoe, Moskey, Daisy Farm then to Rock Harbor so a reverse from what you did. I like ending on cheeseburger and beer at Rock Harbor. It can be a really brutal island with a lot of time in your head hiking and tripping over stones and roots. Anyway great work I loved your work capturing this experience.
thanks for the series - I too ahve not done the upper midwest. Really nice to get your ideas and views of it. I really liked the music in this series. seemd to be more jazz and slow jazz. The ending music in this episdoe was fantastic. Perfect arragnement and tempo and instrumentation! Loved it. And the shot of the little baby merganzers? with mom lined up on a log. Loved it! SO many shots i liked in this series - as always. But thanks to showever is picking the music. Is great and a delight to listen to with the shots and video!
An excellent series. I enjoyed all of it. From the opening and ending credits to the amazing content you both provide. Well done and I look forward to the next one. Enjoy SA.
MAK, your words, borrowed from a certain song, resonate with me too. We just returned from a 3 month trip that I waited 2 years for, only to have it be "less" than I had expected. The relative downtime was really what we needed, even if not what we wanted. Thanks for a really great series. Seeing these places through yours and Owen's perspective makes me want to pack the camper, after just getting home, and take off again.
We loved Isle Royale. Since your trip was different from ours, you treated us to another look at the islands. We took a ferry from Grand Portage, stayed in the lodge, ate in the dining room, hiked 13 miles all around our part of the island. Our most fun day was taking a row boat to 2 smaller islands. Raspberry Island gave us our first look at Sundews and a great interior bog. We even liked our leaking little boat! The islands are forever one of our favorite trips. I am so glad you chose to go this place
I am Rony from India. Actually from the naturally blessed North Eastern part of India. I absolutely, insanely love watching all of your videos. Much love Happy Miles! Me and my fiance would love to join you and travel the world around. Cheers! ❤
Just found your series. This video was beautiful in every way guys! You two arrived on the island a couple days after we left. Was there for a third time. It’s a Midwest gem. It was much more crowded than in previous years. I see you were in the Winds too! I’m going back there in August for a solo backpack trip. I dream of going back there every day!
You guys are...argh...so incredible! So inspiring! We have a perfectly good FWC Grandby on our perfectly good F350. We LOVE your series. So perfectly shot, such brilliant photography! We literally said to each other last weekend, " We can't sell our rig! If we do, we'd never be able to watch Bound For Nowhere again!" We're not selling our rig. We admire your journey so much. Keep at it, please!
I am glad to see you have also joined the XtraTough rainboot gang. Best option for rain, mud, snow, and dust while on the road! Love the video & series!
Your talent is what makes your videos stand out from others who visit these same places. I always enjoy watching your series and can’t wait for the next one.
For the love that is everything supercalifragilisticexpialidicious!!! How do you do it....I mean come on, I was passed inflating your own ego balloon at this point because clearly I am a fan and wanted to come from a stand point as if we were friends in real life. Maybe say something like "How cool is this trip" or "you two must have been so stoked"...but now, after watching it. Boom right back to fanboy! I just loved the whole thing honestly, truly heartwarming and nostalgic...left me daydreaming and wishing to the point I had to rewind multiple episodes multiple times. I tip my hat to you in appreciation and gratitude for sharing your stories with us, truly thank you...slainte!
I think this trip kind of captures a truth about Isle Royal from my experience, your plans and expectations kind of flutter at the whims of the weather. Add to that the influx of people last year… wow. It typically is a place to be away from people. The best way to do it though in my opinion is canoe. You can do some cool loops with reasonable portages and get to see the shorelines and bays from the water while camping at places that are only accessible from water. It’s a more tranquil way to tour the park and all the narrow long bays give you pretty good weather protection. Anyway, great piece, kind of fun seeing you come through the UP and our neck of the woods.
It's one of those places that when you leave you miss it. You will be sitting on your couch thinking back or laying in your camper van and get the urge to go back. There's a reason this park has the highest visiter return rate.
Absolutely beautiful series. Thank you so much for taking us with you. Your cinematography and photography continues to out do itself, with numerous occasions me yelling OMG at the screen. Just beautiful. Cant wait for the next one. Cheers to all your hard work!
Loving the ending SNL jazzy like tune! Snappy music on the outtake puts you in the summer mood. You know sometimes we get so wrapped up in the journey we lose focus on the stillness that is afforded to us by our efforts. Love this series and need to get some merch from y'all. Always the outtakes!
I am sorry you did not have a good time the first few days, but it looked like the rest of the trip went well. I hope in June it won't be so crowded. You did an amazing job with this video. You truly show the beauty!!! I can't wait to see what is coming for this year. Thank you again for all the work and effort that goes into these amazing videos. I love the animation at the beginning of your videos. You both are truly gifted. Have a great day ❤
Beautiful as always. So many good life lessons. The slow moments are the memories of a lifetime. Glad you got to do this trip and thanks for sharing it with all of us. 🎉💕 -western NY Troy & Aimee
This like the other series seem to fly by but was So Welcomed. The world seems crazy sometimes and sharing this kind of stuff is so important. Thank you and Happy Late Anniversary! 💛💚💙
We waited for the last episode to go live on RUclips then watched the entire series in one evening, it turned out to be as beautiful too watch as we imagined. The videography was wonderful, your storytelling in the narration was both romantic and honest. Now we’re looking forward to the next series having followed your travels on Instagram. ❤ the store name clip brought a tear🐈
For people that don't know anything about the aircraft you flew in...it is a Canadian Icon...the deHavilland Beaver. Legendary bush plane. Yours was still equipped with a radial engine...many have been converted to turboprops. Production ceased in 1967. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_DHC-2_Beaver
I have truly loved every bit of this series. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible journey! Very inspiring, can't wait to get outside this summer!
Like all of your videos, we absolutely loved this series! Your blend of cinematic filming, fun adventures, overlanding, and excellent storytelling is seriously top-notch. You inspired us to recently make our own van travel series. Already can't wait for your next video!!
I enjoyed every minute of the series. You all do such a great job of sharing the beautiful landscapes and adventures that are available. I wish you both an awesome 2023, will be looking forward to another series in the future!
Thanks for this series! It was interesting that on this trip, you hiked and packrafted vs just driving and doing day hikes. Have fun on your next journey.
Another well done episode and series. Thank you! Ok, you've covered the camera equipment, now tell us about your editing process ;) - Software you use for the vids as well as the sound (how do you get the gradation so consistent?!). Music scoring and sources (which btw has gotten much better with this series), Scripting, final storyboarding... and the voice overs .... and...what did I forget? Anyway, thanks again.Well done.
Just wondering at the end if you or anybody can Tell me the name of the song and artist. That was a great ending “again” Going to miss both of you but I am sure There is more to come. Be safe and if you or someone can answer my questions That would be great want that music. Thank you again for another great mini series.
No not at all. We are very cognizant of what we cook in the camper to keep that at bay. I also always have the windows open, fan going, and smell good items that I use a mix of to mitigate any smell
Such a beautiful and different look at this amazing place. It holds a special place in our hearts and we're happy you were able to experience this Michigan treasure. We were lucky enough to spend over a week on the island last year and we were able to capture some of our experiences, which you can find here... ruclips.net/p/PLLY7dSBXDeY4DNoJpDAG0xrsFG5LScZ6G
Depressing video, hardly saw a smile, didn't seem to have any fun, and almost did a disservice to one of my favorite places on earth. Seems to me, you're in too big of a hurry to get to the next place, to enjoy the place you're at.
Ok, so I'm just watching this last one. My next question is, why don't we just get rid of national geographic, and you guys can take it over? We'll call it National Geographic: Bound For Nowhere.
I can’t believe this was the final episode. Seems like the series was shorter than last year’s. Can’t wait to see next year’s series. Are u guys still doing a Q and A video?
Yes we are still doing a Q&A! More info on that coming later today! And we did make this one shorter as we had less time to film, but we are also still trying to find the happy medium as 15 episodes is not financially responsible or even possible for us to produce on our own. The Lost & Found series nearly killed us and was too expensive to do the post production on. So this is us calibrating ;)
The attitude and outlook you guys bring to every series is as special as the places you bring us along to. Thank you for that.
I appreciate that! These places always seem to have a lot to teach us
Every single episode of this series has been awesome. especially for me being in southern Ontario all of these places are within my reach for a road trip and every episode I've had to add another spot to my bucket list. cant wait to see the next series.
Well it sounds like you have a fun trip lined up then ;)
🍻 Here's to the slow moments! Thanks for a great series. 🖤
Loved the soundtrack on this one! Fit the mood perfectly!
Thank you so much! We had fun with the music this time around!
Your intro made so much sense after watching the whole series. You immortalized the little fox!
Gotta leave little bread crumbs in there for you all!
Nice guys, excellent editing work:)
Thanks so much!

You guys are next level movie, I mean video makers. Wow. I would also like to acknowledge your Editor, Jackson Casimiro. RESPECT
Mac, what brand are those rubber boots, please, hon? Ty...
Thank you so much Jackson really did such a wonderful job and we wouldn't have bene able to do it (particularly not as fast) without him!
And those are Xtratuf boots!
Some of the best photography I’ve seen of Isle Royale, absolutely stunning. Sorry it didn’t meet your expectations but provided what you needed.
It absolutely did! And we are so thankful for it! And we appreciate the kind words
I love IR and have loved this series. I'm so glad you made it to the Island. I've been there the last two years and it has certainly gotten busier but last year we had no issues securing a shelter at each site (except the inland lake ones that don't have shelters). I loved the stars shining into the lake. This was a great series, thanks!
That is hard to capture so we feel very lucky to have captured that!
Isle Royal is the best. Been there 4 times growing up in MI. Love it.
I wouldn’t have expected that from Michigan!
thanks for the series - I too ahve not done the upper midwest. Really nice to get your ideas and views of it. I really liked the music in this series. seemd to be more jazz and slow jazz. IR is a magical place. Nothing like finishing off with a cold one in Windigo while listening to the moose in the river!

Brazil is waiting you guysssss! 🙏
Great series! I especially enjoyed this last episode. Great work.
Amazing place for adventure, beautiful days with stunning view.A great hiking documentary footage. 🐶😉
Been to the island 3 times, it’s a magical place of restoration. Rain and leeches included😂
HAHA I do agree with you!

MAK & Owen, a wonder episode and series. Kudos and Cheers, Mates.
Thank you so much!
Soooooo Goooood. Awesome series!
I appreciate it!

This was such a great series(once again!)! I’m sad that it’s over already. You really are among my favorite channel! Can’t wait for the next series!
Thanks for the series !! hurry back
Thanks for this series! It was interesting that on this trip, you hiked and packrafted vs just driving and doing day hikes. Have fun on your next journey.
What an ending to a series! Can't wait for the next series
Those folding chairs you're lounging in near the end...did the sea plane allow you to take those?
Another well done episode and series. Thank you!
Ok, you've covered the camera equipment, now tell us about your editing process ;) - Software you use for the vids as well as the sound (how do you get the gradation so consistent?!). I enjoyed the series. Looking at going to isle Royal as well. Did you see any moose while you were there?
This was an incredible series!! Whatcha gonna do to celebrate 100K subscribers?? So close!!!
What where all the sites you stayed at and the one you missed. What back pack did u use.
Beautiful footage. Do you use any luts for your color grading?
Waiting patiently. Not. Lol. Can’t wait.
Just wondering at the end if you or anybody can
Tell me the name of the song and artist.
That was a great ending “again”
Going to miss both of you but I am sure
There is more to come.
Be safe and if you or someone can answer my questions
That would be great want that music.
Thank you again for another great mini series.
❤😊
Any plans on passing through Colombia?
Does your camper stick from cooking inside?
No not at all. We are very cognizant of what we cook in the camper to keep that at bay. I also always have the windows open, fan going, and smell good items that I use a mix of to mitigate any smell
❤👍
glass half full
The glass is very half full, some would say to its fullest extent ;)
Tell Owen he's not supposed to feed the wildlife.😂
HAHAHHAHA. That will be a fine sir for feeding the leeches
a tote umbrella might be helpful
Agreed!
What dates were you on the island?
August 22-27th 2022
Isle royal? I guess if you had to go somewhere
Such a beautiful and different look at this amazing place. It holds a special place in our hearts and we're happy you were able to experience this Michigan treasure. So is there a next coming soon???😢
This fall! But we will have some one off videos coming in sooner than that!
I just can't see going to Isle Royale wearing bare legs. Mosquitos would eat me alive
Isle Royal isa beautiful place. You missed delivering it to your audience.
Always a nice video, lovely to watch.
(Note: avoid the scenes of eating food, cringy, triggers many people)
Soon as I saw the first plug for a company I stop watching. Later!
I can’t believe this was the final episode. Seems like the series was shorter than last year’s. Can’t wait to see next year’s series. Are u guys still doing a Q and A video?

@@BoundForNowhere ok cool. Definitely going to watch your Yellowstone and Grand Teton series soon since I’m going there in September!
