Newcomers won't understand, how much this mod means, coming from an amazing project back in 2009, first demo in 2011, "dead" since 2012... finally resurrected unexpectedly in 2017 by a new team.

Dario Meza the reason there isn’t a half life 3 is because steam is making enough money for them.
Since there is enough money coming in from steam, they don’t need to make new games.

I thought like that before. But a few months earlier they announced they are back to game development, since by now Valve has managed to expand to develop hardware and software simultaneously. For me it translates as they are capable to make something revolutionary again. And the full half-life games usually brings about something like that. Thus it gives some hope. Also, If we go along this reasoning, no wonder they did not make a third installment to any of their games. Just think about it. All Half-life, Team Fortress, Left for dead, Portal and even Dota stuck after their second parts... I think it may say something. At least I really hope so.
More fun than hunt down the freeman
Watching paint dry is a better use of your time than playing Hunt Down the Freeman

Funny how this whole mod is around 6 gb when it could be only 2 if they just moved it over to SDK Base 2013 (they crammed in all of Ep2 assets, while also unpacking the VPKs into the folder, because Base 2007 apparently can't mount Ep2 content or VPK archives). Tried to clear it up but gave up and didn't play, so thanks for the walkthrough.

The mod is not bad, but, as for me, all the modes in which a seven-hour war is shown (both here and in the same notorious HDTF) lack epic and spectacularity. Understand, the developers to show all the horrors of the seven-hour war, not enough pair of striders, four gunships and a handful of incomprehensible synths

It's due to the mod being canned before it's just being cobbled together of what remains finished.
anyone could finish it, they have everything downloadable, so if a good story writer, mapper, and a 3D modeler got together, they could finish this, and hell, even if they wern't that great, they'd STILL manage to make something better than Prospekt

Also I think they should swap out the SPAS-12 for an M870 as the US military doesn't use the SPAS-12 and it isn't sold to to civilians (I think but could be wrong about that one)
An yes I know some SWAT teams use it but even then it wouldn't be nearly as common as the M870.

The thing that brings shame to HDTF is not only the crappy quality of story, map design and errors, but its on Steam. Being sold for about 24.99. And this mod is for free, about 10x better in every aspect possible.

What this mod needs is an actual team to salvage what was left from Menter's original design and redo most of the stuff from scratch in order to get with the times and bring it to 2021 quality. The mod itself was planned to be seven-chapter long, featuring locations like City 5, desert wasteland, underground complex and pine forest in Combine-occupied USA to name a few. Development screenshots also showed it to be in a more advanced stage of development than presented here, with original HUD design already being implemented.
Lost was an attempt to make something out of what was left by Menter and the original team, but it was just sloppily patched with glue and duct tape, rather than have had an actual effort to complete the mod as originally envisioned.
Here is how the original concept looked like:
The plot revolved around Adrian Shephard being released from detainment for unknown reasons, and the Seven Hour War was a still a recent occurence by the time he arrives in City 5. He joins the Phoenix Command, a special operations group consisting of ex-US operatives from various branches of the military, navy and air force, including the HECU, that was part of the newly forming Resistance. The exact reasons for his release from detainment by G-Man weren't clear, aside from the fact that he was still bound to his agenda. His mission in City 5 as a Phoenix operative was to prevent the Combine from gaining a foothold by establishing a Citadel, but we didn't really know how this mission goes. After that, the aforementioned locations were going to be visited by Adrian, but the details of the plot and how he got here, and for what reason... were known only by Menter and his associates at the time, and nobody knows what is he doing these days.
I'm posting this mostly because I hope someone who's interested in gamedev picks up this concept and make an actual, worthy continuation of Shephard's story, even if it's fanmade. And no, Prospekt doesn't count.

It parallels the idea that the combine took over earth quickly and effortlessly, and immediately began changing everything.
But also, it would have been deployed at the very end of the 7 hour war, so
Judging by the lack of military presence, the destruction, and the combine everywhere, at least in what is seen in this demo, the war is presumably already over at this point.
i want to see this as a full game the original was great and this has a lot of potential. to bad its cancelled

A few days ago me and a cousin and a friend started working on a half life : opossing force 2 project in source. I make the maps, my cousin writes the story and tests the game ,and my friend makes the models and animations, we hope it will look good when it will be finished :)

It's okay, I guess, but it's got one problem. The Citadel wasn't sent in the USA, but in Eastern Europe, presumably Belgrade. Or does the Combine have Citadels all over Earth? Nah.

It is. The book "Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar" Says the citadel was dropped from a portal during the seven hour war. Though I don't think that really happened, most of things in this book were changed during development, so we can't trust 100%. Everything tells it wasn't dropped, but built on earth.

I installed it but some of the original opposing force 2 weapons (including melee) and all original opposing force 2 npcs (except for combine soldiers) are not working. Anyone to help me?

I feel like there should be a Half-Life game that features Co-op, Where player 1 would be Gordon Freeman or play as if solo, and Shepard be Player 2 or if solo, be an A.I companion. The two would have something common as in they both work for G-Man and they were both at Black Mesa. I feel like it would be like Master Chief and Arbiter from Halo, Halo 3 specifically. If Shepard was an A.I he could say some lines, and if you're worried about Shepard talking "ruining" the experience, you have to remember that Barney was the protagonist of Blue Shift, and he never talked until Half-Life 2, so the whole Barney-Syndrome could happen with Shepard and still get a fantastic Half-Life game. Give me your opinions on this idea!

Fun but I had an idea like for half life 3 (yeah yeah never coming out) that on the boriallis shepherd shows up Alex freaks out not knowing he isn’t combine as she was A to young to remember the marines from Black Mesa or B fears the HECU marines because of what happened at Black Mesa, shepherd would then see free man and aim at the player, Mexican stand off style, then the combine show up forcing them to work together.
