      Well at my rate I probably won’t have any pumpkins left here in a week or two lol….
      Plenty of season left you’ll get some monsters I know it!!!

      @@GardenofGiants what you mean you won't have any pumpkins left in a week?! They still need to get 3000lbs 🤣
      Also, on the Red Beefsteak, I have 2-3 double megas (one sexy one) and then secretly, one pollinated that seems to be a 3-4 and all pollinated. Bit late to focus on the one but sure as heck will see how big they will get lol

      Well if I can get 2000 pounds I will be thrilled Beyond belief!!!
      That is so awesome that your beef steaks are throwing these double, and triple megas!! I wanna see a monster from you!

      The double Mega probably approaching half a pound now. But let's see. I'll save from the largest tomato on this plant and send ya seeds. Maybe you can like breed with some of yours or whatever. Meanwhile, I'll try Domingo next season. I doubt the Big Zac this year will do much tbh lol
      But next year...let's see what happens lol

    Last year I had a pumpkin abort at 500lbs. It had the identical white spots. I attributed it to too much compost which then retained too much water which resulted in disease. My mistake.
    The rest of your patch looks very strong!

    What a bummer. 14 years and about my 5th year disease started. Those stumps are normal in my patch now because I can’t rotate living in the city.
    Taking the year off for the first time ever and working on my 3rd cover crop. I’ve been given a pretty good cover crop routine and some good chemicals for 2024.
    Such a bummer and disease is never fun. 1700 1800 is about all you can get with heavy disease.
    I’m hoping this year off and what we have planned for next year helps.🙏🏽
    Good luck and thanks for sharing!:)
    Your plants look beautiful!

      Have you tried burning your soil?dig it out and replace it? If you can’t move that might be things you can try.

    Do the heat cables add much to the electricity bill? I assume they are low energy like the heat tape we use on our water pipes.
    We are definitely putting them in the pumpkin patch next year.
    Thanks again for the videos

    • @GardenofGiants
      @GardenofGiants  Год назад +2

      No I don’t really notice any increase in my bill with the electric heat cables…. They are lower watt, they keep the temperature about 70 and if you have a hoop house over them it kind of insulates the ground and keeps it real steady so they’re not cranking all the time.
      Thanks for watching!!

    If growing field pumpkin, do you treat it the same way as a giant pumpkin

    • @GardenofGiants
      @GardenofGiants  Год назад +1

      For the most part…. I would grow them in a Christmas tree pattern set a pumpkin 10 to 15 feet out however know that a Field Pumpkin will mature in as little as 30 days upwards of 50 days whereas a AG will go 100 days

    Last year I had a foaming crown early August. I cut all the way through crown and cleaned it out daily. It still grew 300+ afterwards and ended up weighing 1029. Not sure why but personally, I think I over watered.

    • @GardenofGiants
      @GardenofGiants  Год назад +1

      That’s great you were able to get some growth after you cut it. I decided just to take the whole plant out. I grow so much I don’t really have time to baby one plant…. And the two pumpkins I had on the plant both aborted so I’d literally be starting over with pollination and just didn’t want to deal with it.
