How do you like the 2022 Tucson lights? I'm glad to see good headlight ratings and LED's available even on the base model. Ambient lights are on the SEL and Limited trim. Stay tuned for the full review!
Do you know if the headlights can be height adjusted? I live in an area where nothing is flat, so most times I can barely see in front of me, sometimes like 1-2 car lengths in front of me… kind of just driving by faith lol
Got to sit in one of these a few weeks ago. I was seriously impressed. Such a huge improvement over the last generation. The styling has definitely grown on me. Wasn’t sure about it at first, but I think it has just enough to stand out without looking too weird.
In November I got a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate Hybrid (non plug in) Deep Sea Blue with the light interior and I have driven 5800 miles and am averaging 40.5 mpg. This is my 5th new SUV since June 2011 and I consider it the best and I love driving it. Before Covid I travelled to Nevada and Calif and was averaging 25,000 + miles a year and I am looking forward to finally able to travel to the USA and some long drives to really test it. I used to have a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which required pugging in every night which became a nuisance for me especially when I forgot to do it.I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this wonderful Tucson, you won't be disappointed. ⚓
Revised January 2023, after owning one of these, white, for a month or two. I'll give you some long review... Headlights are great. NO complaints. As for rear turn signals, more companies that I can add here have rear LED brake lights but still standard incandescent turn signals. As for location, it meets federal law, not the only car with the light in the bumper, and they are visible from the distance as noted in most state laws while stopped....most laws stated you are to stop in sight of the rear tire where it meets the road. (So stop the whining.) Rear hatch light was replaced with an LED (Sylvania, cost about $5) time to replace approx three minutes. (Will admit, one on each side would have been a better idea.) Rear flashers replaced, took about an hour, but that included time to determine best place to install the two resistors (one for each side). Decided to go with bulbs requiring resistors since most that stated resistor MIGHT not be needed, still needed resistor. Push button vs. knob. After a few months, the pushbuttons are easier to work than a knob. For example, raising or lowering temp is so much easier to reach over and press an up/down three times to raise/lower a temp vs. a button. Many wills it won't work with gloves on. Could be true, I never wear gloves when driving even in the -20 degree we have in the winter but a small know would be hard to turn if wearing gloves the same as hard to push small button. (Steering wheel heater is fast and works great). Overall, this limited Tucson has been a great vehicle. Yes a few minor modifications are required if you want., but not required. Will say I tried the auto rear door opening but turned that feature off. Prefer to just press the button. Opened at times I did not want it to open. Car has a lot more pep than most reviewers cry about. Not of the line, but at around 20-30 mph it has a good kick which helps when merging into 80 mph traffic on the interstate. No problem. And will maintain 80 with no problem. Above 80...a bit slow to pass, but it is an interstate and it can. On two-lane, ok to pass below 50 mph, enough guts to push you pass the slower vehicle. DO I need to say it will take longer to pass then with a C8 Corvette?
Thanks for the info on the door ambient lighting- I have the 2022 limited but thought mine doesn’t have that. My salesman needs to go to Tucson info school. I’ve learned so much from you and others. Maybe I’ll tell the salesman to watch!😉
Thanks for this, I love the idea of night drive videos, I've been really doing my research and I never thought of this until I saw your video recommended. Now I'm going down a rabbit hole. This car truly does look beautiful at night, inside and out, and I love the ambient lighting and headlights. And the blue-light filter is a GAME CHANGER. thanks for the video.
Great Review. Your Night time review helped to "sell" me on the 2022 Acura MDX. The Tucson is far superior to the CRV Hybrid , at least in this repsect. Keep up your very good thorough Videos.
On the dark road they seem to shine pretty well over the road edges on both sides, but more wider on the non driver side. Would you really need fog lights with the headlights that low on the grill? No, I don't really prefer a car with lowered headlights, I think that it ruins the aesthetics of the car, but they are practical
Hi Nolan.. The new Tucson has a unique look for sure, and it has a very impressive interior. Quite an improvement on my older Tucson. Enjoy your day :-)
Thank you very much! I have a playlist of all the night videos, but it’s not called nightrider lol, I like that though! Here it is: ruclips.net/p/PLcvWZn_BRghA5WPONvJ4vm56hQVQdVz0P
Great review!! Question on car seat at the back. What brand is it and is it comfortable for passenger in front? And is it spacious at back for car seat.
Thank you! That one is a Graco extend 2 fit and it’s comfy for my daughter, but it’s a pain in the butt to get anchored in the car and tighten the straps on my daughter lol. We have another one we usually use that’s a chicco brand that’s easier to tighten and install. The backseat in this was definitely spacious enough to have the front seat passengers in a comfortable position too, better than most!
The only light I have a problem with at night is when the backup camera engages, it is kind of blinding if backing onto a dark road. I haven't been able to adjust it.
On my Tucson Hybrid Limited 2022 that does nothing. I can adjust what lines are displayed, but not the brightness. It’s blinding, can’t see anything else when the camera display comes on at night.
@@PrimeAutotainment Thanks,....so,....the one on the passenger side, when depressed, will allow them to come on when the doors are opened from then on? So,...what about rear doors, anything can be done there?
That’s correct. If the lights won’t come in with the rear doors, perhaps the overhead light switch back there is set to off. It might have a similar button/switch for those rear lights
Please cover the Santa Fe Calligraphy trim & the Santa Fe Hybrid Limited trim next! I want to know how much ambient lighting the Hybrid Limited has compared to the Calligraphy trim
Great, I have been looking for decent night time reviews for some time. It makes a difference to me. I would however have liked to know what the lower lights under the dipped beam are. I suspect that they are high beam, and if so I would imagine that they must be a bit low to obtain a decent range??
Just started watching your reviews. Do you or anyone on this thread have experience driving in the rain with the 2022 Tucson Limited? Just wondering how the adaptive cruise control, lane monitoring and lane change warning and other camera and sensor dependent features perform.
I don’t believe I’ve driven the Tucson in the rain, but I’ve driven the Santa Fe, Palisade, and Genesis models in the rain and snow and they worked really well UNLESS it was pure downpour, or once when the sun was so low glaring off snow/ice that it couldn’t recognize the lanes. So if rain gets really heavy, be alert as systems could shut off temporarily
These night videos focus on the lighting more than anything. Not the sun visor, the vanity light. I mention multiple times that for more detailed information there is a full daytime review going through things like the instrument cluster, touch screen, etc
Sorry, but lights don’t make a good car. My door locks don’t work correctly, the transmission shifts terrible, when the auto start system engages the car lurches forward and you can hear a clunk. Hyundai service says the door lock problem is caused by the driver side door handle so I get the door panel pulled out of a brand new car to replace the handle. (397 miles in 60 days). I only have 397 miles because I hate driving the car at this point. Oh, but the lights work great! Wish I had the KIA Soul back that I traded in.
4:11 The dash dimmer does NOT dim the backup camera or map displays. The map lights up the whole car and ruins your night vision. Anybody find a way to dim it? It’s blinding!
I came here to investigate the same thing. It seems like it's on the lower trim and not the Limited. Maybe a package in the lower trims would upgrade the lights though
In the uk every trim level come with this style led drl itsva standard system so what do you get in the usa. ? We in the UK often wonder why your are are so much cheaper if we take this tucson as example you saying on top car get this displays Every trim get the same instrument screen there no different sizes all models get the large entertainment screen aswell. There is non ofbthis change screen on uk cars It's very strange but I understand why we pay more for our cars because they come with batter equipment and materials.
Nice review. I’m new to your channel and have subscribed. I’m in the market for a new car (in the U.K.) and the Hyundai Tucson Ultimate (Limited in your market) is so far top of my list. I think Hyundai missed a party trick with there ambient lights - I think they could have put all the lighting, including the two screens on the same light changing system. My Seat Alhambra has a really nice red glow and instrument panel with is a real delight at night. I’m not keen on the blue and old fashioned green or white looks awful. I’d like purple all round. Greetings from Cumbria in the U.K. stay safe and well.
I went with regular 1080 for this night video kind of as an experiment. I still recorded in 4K but because I have to crop so much on that one camera for the test drive, it gets really fuzzy. So recording in 4K with a big crop…publishing in 1080 should make it less fuzzy. Do you think it did or no?
I think the Hyundai is a super auto. My wife and I haven’t had a chance to TEST DRIVE THIS SUV but it on our calendar for this year All these gadgets are a bit overkill. I also think these gadgets takes the fun out of driving😢
Never seen a smaller back turn signal lights, than on this model, and on weird place, way down. Compared to all the christmas lights back and front. Same on front - tiny turn signals comapred to massive front lights.
the peripherals being so narrow, missing illuminated buttons on the top console and manual flipping vanity light is why Hyundai will always be Hyundai. They trick you into thinking you're getting into something nice by using big screens, flashy LED DRLs and modern looking interiors but look closely and you will notice there are some obvious cost cuts. At least the Germans are upfront about it. I don't like how Hyundai tries to hide stuff like that. Who knows what else could they be cheaping out on.
These light designs are a nightmare. Too many front DRL Very confusing . Also the rear turn signals are so lowdown that a Corvette's lights are actually higher. A great way to get rearended by an F150 and forget an 18 wheeler. I liked the vehicle and it drove nicely and I was tempted to buy it but after seeing where the rear turn signals are located, decided it was too much of a safety issue for me.
2:37. I wish I could get red. Or blue. Or green. Or ahhhhhhh! The Hybrid is only offered in black, white or 5 shades of grey. Stupid, when they have such great colors on other models. Oh, they do have “deep sea” which is black. If you’re in the sun just right, you can see a teeny hint of super dark blue. Otherwise the car IS black.
I just want a plain normal vehiecle no computer or gadgets for phone movies. Manuel windows and normal head lights. The price would then be manageable and they would sell a million of them
Kia/ hyundai and any other brands that place rear blinkers below eye level should be taken to court. Apparently it’s the decision of ‘senior designers’ at kia/hyundai global design. Their title needs to change to ‘senior idiots’. This makes me so angry! I ordered this car and expecting it late 2022. It’s probably the best looking hybrid cuv in the longest time since cars were designed to look so fugly in the last few decades. Will have to change the horrid incandescent rear turn/reverse lights to leds so people can actually see them. What a horrible design flaw. Thanks for the video.
In fairness, you are supposed to maintain a following distance that allows you to see the TIRES of the vehicle in front of you. Of course people don't actually follow safe driving practices. All that being said, designers and engineers would not leave themselves open to lawsuits by ILLEGALLY placing the turn signals low. Is it a good idea or safe considering the world of distracted drivers we live in? I would say No. They should have made the turn signals integrated with the brake lights if you ask me. But they obviously meet or exceed ALL safety standards so they will not be being sued for that issue.
Huh, this other video shows a 2022 Tucson with cornering lights that come on when the steering wheel is turned. Yet you say it doesn’t have it. What’s going on? ruclips.net/video/aNHSZTZjMRs/видео.html
That video is from a Swiss model. I’m in North America…often times there will be differences like that from country to country and we don’t get the cornering lights here I guess. Glad to see they get them though
@@PrimeAutotainment So it seems the Euro model has several features that the US does not. Is there anything that the US model has that other countries don't get? The only thing I've heard is that the US version is about 4 inches longer. Euro version seems to have: - power folding mirrors - cornering lights - different drive modes - 40/20/40 back seat - temp control for rear passengers - front passenger adjustment buttons on side of seat - stylish tailpipe in bumper Anything else? It's very strange that they wouldn't put all this on every Limited model worldwide, especially for manufacturing efficiency.
@@bengarland also noted this review said that the running lights were different on lower trims in the US. They're all the same as seen in this video on all trims in Europe. Also noted that in Europe, some of the higher trims have replaced the rear bumper amber indicator with LEDs vs the bulbs on the US limited trim. The main difference with the lower and upper trims in Europe seem to be the panoramic sunroof (N Line S & Ultimate) and larger centre screen on the upper trims (Premium, N Line, N Line S and Ultimate). Only the very lowest trim (SE Connect) has the smaller screen. Also the lowest SE Connect has halogen front headlights, the rest of the range get front projector LEDs. You do seem to have to pay a lot more for the same amount of equipment in the US. Also we don't have the NA engines (2.5L etc). All engines are 1.6L turbocharged petroleum unleaded fuelled, most (all but one) with hybrid assistance (either mild 48V, self charging hybrid with a larger battery and a plug in hybrid version).
Ridiculous! This trend of putting the headlights down low and under the DRL's...where the headlights SHOULD be has got to stop! It looks so stupid! Manufacturers, please put the headlights back up top in the front end of your cars again.
You can get a chance and we are you and your family and friends is not available on Monday at noon so much yet received any response from you thanks and regards for and on Monday at noon so much for your family and friends is not available on Monday at noon so much for your family and friends

Just wait until someone rear end those cheap bumpers and break the turn signals.
$20 and 10 minutes to change out the rear turn signals to LED.
This is new tucson generation model it's not redesign
The 2022 Tucson is the latest generational redesign in North America. Are you in a different market?
@@PrimeAutotainment EU. I do think they called it 4th generation of Tucson.
@@Silentfeety yes the latest Tucson is a completely new vehicle. The outgoing most recent version having the facelift in 2018.
They need to go back to a six-cylinder engine on the Hyundai Tucson.
No need to say “what’s going on.” 😵💫
Huh, this other video shows a 2022 Tucson with cornering lights that come on when the steering wheel is turned. Yet you say it doesn’t have it. What’s going on?

That video is from a Swiss model. I’m in North America…often times there will be differences like that from country to country and we don’t get the cornering lights here I guess. Glad to see they get them though
@@PrimeAutotainment Interesting. Thanks for the reply.
@@PrimeAutotainment So it seems the Euro model has several features that the US does not. Is there anything that the US model has that other countries don't get? The only thing I've heard is that the US version is about 4 inches longer.
Euro version seems to have:
- power folding mirrors
- cornering lights
- different drive modes
- 40/20/40 back seat
- temp control for rear passengers
- front passenger adjustment buttons on side of seat
- stylish tailpipe in bumper
Anything else?
The interior is just ruined because of the gloss black. Was so close to buying it, but now, no. Too bad hyundai.
Hi which suv did you buy I’m looking too.
They have an off white interior too
I have a 2009 ford escape with glass bulk it looks good no problems my Tucson is on order love the interior
They are one of the most expensive SUV in their class. 👎
Ridiculous! This trend of putting the headlights down low and under the DRL's...where the headlights SHOULD be has got to stop! It looks so stupid! Manufacturers, please put the headlights back up top in the front end of your cars again.
