HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2Td...
One of the symptoms is that it causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face..

Thanks for this detailed video for building my first electronic kit. i just started my retirement with a hobby in electronics.
You can do it!
Paul, as always very informative video, to the point and made even a 7 year old starting could understand, well done mate, keep up the great work 🤙🏼🇦🇺
There is a 3d printable version of the blue/black pub holder.
One day I may finish printing out and assembling it!
Just found you today, really love your style of teaching!
Thank you
Good tip for using needle nose pliers over tweezers as they are so much easer for arthritic hands
I'd be lost without tweezers
Very thorough, great job Paul. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Glad you enjoyed it
Great advice as always Paul!
For solder (doesnt matter if its leaded or lead-free) I would always recommend to buy from a good brand. MG is great. The cheapo stuff just doesnt have enough flux in it and can get frustrating easily. If u go lead-free make sure there is some silver in it. Dont get the Sn99.3Cu0.7. Its a PITA to solder. Get Sn95Ag4Cu or something similar. Using that for over 4 years now and works just great.
The cheap 3rd hand stands are great for tinning wires. Highly recommended!
Good video for newbie, should mention to check the pcb to be clean.
tin tap touch takeaway !! great video !
Great intro to soldering video!
I'm slowly watching my way through the channel.
Have you considered making / already done another fundamentals video on the functions of a multimeter?
Great basic info, wish this had been around when I was learning to solder. I am curious to know your thoughts on flux, when is it needed and the best method for removal of the excess. Thanks for another great video, I really like the way you explain the basic concepts so everyone knows what you are talking about. Keep up the good work!!
When I first started, my soldering was not very good. I tried different solders, etc. Then I learned about most of them using flux when soldering on components, taking off components, and wicking solder from contacts and components. Flux MAKES a huge difference! Always clean all flux up not mater how much is there. Even the non cleaning flux. Flux can help you solder like a pro! I use a cotton swab (Q-Tip) and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol cleaning flux, a toothbrush and 99% IPA will work....or any kind of ESD anti static brush. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol will work in a pinch, but I wouldn't go any lower than that. I hope that helps. i'm not a pro by any means, but I picked up things from people who are.
Great Job...Thanx...best wishes
I think kit building is the way to go these days since the closure of the radio shack and the like......the only way to buy components these days is to buy in bulk and buying 10 of something when i only need 2-3 gets expensive.
learned something new today
Thanks again
I’m not finding the flux that you mentioned. Do you have a link to the vendor or a distributor? Thanks, Kennedy
It's a boutique brand. Email the creator, he will hook you up: robert1636@gmail.com
With 3 pins, was that not a single pole, double throw switch?
how are u cleaning it and with what. im talking about the solder
The iron? I poke it into a brass wool. You can also use a damp sponge
Those blue resistors sometimes are not too good.
Strange thing is that soldering is addictive. Seriously.
I would almost say that a very cheap usb soldering iron is better than nothing
mmmmmmmm Hersheys kiss's!

I hate helping hands.....They're alright to hold wires as you tin them. Other than that, they piss me off where I cuss and throw it. The thing doesn't stay put, it won't go the way I need it, and 98% of them are just Chinese junk. I like the PCB holders....i've got a couple different types.
I just hate those helping hands. LOL.
I'd never heard of using blue tack until you mentioned it in another vlog. Works so nicely. Thanks Paul for all your great posts. 73 de n6bvz/4 wil
