Martyn, that jewel sounds great clean and really enjoyed seeing you play my friend. Nice job mate!!
Hello JT, Thank you. take care.
I love watching your amp repair/mods but Damn! , your playing is so good !! please make more lesson/ technique videos
Hello, thank you. There will be some teaching videos coming soon. Thanks for watching and take care.
I agree with you 100% on the output transformer. This obviously isn’t your first rodeo as far as being a class act amp tech or as a guitarist. I just discovered your channel the other day. I use to play electric guitar and fiddle with Jerry Reed back in the day from 1981-1984. Please keep up the fantastic content and playing. Unfortunately I am no longer able to play any more due to health reasons that have made me a 24\7 bedcare patient. Peace and goodwill to you. I’m going to check out more of your RUclips library..DB
Hello David. I have had a listen to some of your videos on here. I was blown away. Brilliant musicians. Some fantastic playing on the violin. Jerry Reed, what a master player. Some of his lines are so hard to play. Sorry to hear you don't play anymore and that you are ill. It's an honour to have you watching my videos. Thanks for watching and take care.
Sounds great! The amp now compliments the playing 👍
Hello, thank you. Thanks for watching and take care.
You've got that amp sounding righteous. That Les Paul is beautiful!
Hello Ron. Yep it's not bad at all now. The Les Paul is a limited colors model. Take care Ron.
If it ever comes back to you for further mods, the Primary Windings SE transformer is a gem. Built like a brick shithouse too. The 470 Ohm resistor on the 6L6/5881 could do with dropping to a 220 Ohm to warm the valve up. A 10W metal cased one mounted to the chassis and job done. With the 470, you could use a JJ 6V6S. The reflected impedance would be a little off, but it'll be within safety limits.
The bypass cap on V1a. Try a 1uF in place of the 22uF. It can help deflub if the flubs infest it.
Hello. Some good info there. I will add this to my notes. Thanks for watching and take care.
The amp is starting to sound great, huge improvement even through it's single speaker, you were obviously enjoying playing the demos with it.
Have you checked out ampbooks bypass capacitor calculator? It's brilliant, models a preamp section. You enter your plate volts and resistor value, the valve type, cathode resistor and bypass cap values and it graphs a frequency curve and expected gain etc. Trying to reproduce bass way down below what a guitar can make or human hearing range wastes so much power and tonal character especially in smaller amps with limited ironwork. The bypass cap and resistor value combo can set the bass cutoff knee to just where its needed for optimum setup for amp types. A bass amp, or clean with ample headroom or a distortion monster? Try various values and view results, seems accurate.
Hello Rob, I haven't check that out but I will doing so now, thank you. Take care.
Turned out real nice again.
Hello Neil, thank you. Take care.
Good show!
Hello Paul, thank you. Take care.
Sounds very sweet.
Hello, thank you. Take care.
Thanks alot. Cool video.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching. Take care.
Sounds pretty good now Martyn, got a fair bit of sustain after those mods, certainly an improvement, nice LP ,is it a studio ?and great playing again!
Hello, yes. I think that's about the best I am going to get it. Talk soon. Take care.
I'd have said you got a great result there Martyn. It's almost turned out to be a 'silk purse' having definitely been bordering on a sows ear territory.. Some great playing that illustrates the guitarist has a major part to play in the sound of any amp and guitar combination.
Hello Pete. I an surprised that it sounds so good considering the terrible it originally had. Thanks Pete and take care.
Nice job. Can you write down the mods you finally did with the right value of Capacitors and resistance? thanks
Hello Dario. Give me a day or so and I will sit down and write it all out for you. Thanks for watching and take care.
Hello Dario. Sorry to take so long with this, been ill .
